- Doctor Who actor Peter Capaldi hit the stage at Fan Expo Boston 2019 to talk about his amazing career, his thoughts about the Doctor and answer fan questions. This panel is a must for fans of Doctor Who!
The Twelfth Doctor was quite different from his predecessors and Peter Capaldi played it well. This fine actor is also known for The Thick of It, World War Z, Torchwood, The Hour, The Musketeers and has recently completed a role in The Personal History of David Copperfield (based on the Charles DIckens book, not the magician). Sonic screwdrivers were held in salute to greet Peter Capaldi and celebrate 12's run as the crazy man from Gallifrey.

I love Peter Capaldi!! I don't care if it's an unpopular opinion, but the 12th doctor was my favorite. I had the honor of meeting Peter last year at Boston Comic Con. The person before us took ten minutes cause they had him sign ten things. Peter had limited time, so I thought the rest of us would only have a few seconds with him. However, when I got up to the front and shook Peter's hand, he smiled and engaged conversation. I felt so bad for the people behind us, but Peter talked with us for ten minutes! My dad mentioned the episode Listen, and Peter recalled the speech from the episode. Before we could stop him, he pulled out his phone, looked up the speech, and started writing the entire thing on the paper we brought with us. We were expecting to only get his signature, a small hello, and be rushed away. But he was so kind!! Never be cruel, never be cowardly. He really is the 12th Doctor

You can tell Peter is a superfan. He's gone from watching it as a child, to playing the Doctor to now cosplaying as Davros.
Peter Capaldi is just fabulous. I'm a huge Whovian who lives down under but I hope to meet him one day. He's my favourite Doctor.

I was there and as you can hear in this Q&A Peter Capaldi is a very humble person. In my personal opinion he's the 2nd best doctor, but just barely, since the 2005 reboot. Christopher Eccleston has remained my favorite. That being said, Capaldi has put other people above himself, directors, writers, even Matt Smith and David Tenant as the 10th and 11th doctors plus Jenna Coleman and Michelle Gomez. Most actors will spend most of the time puffing themselves up, but given the chance, Capaldi put others ahead of him. That's real class.

When I saw Peter's hair and didn't believe what my eyes were seeing, I was amazed, I swear I almost screamed when I saw it. but now everything is settled, it was nothing, thank God.

I love the way Peter stood up for Steven Moffatt even though the person asking the question wasn’t actually being rude. We as a viewer have no clue about what goes on behind the scenes but when people still go to conventions to criticise and thinking that everyone at the panel is on their wavelength they are fooling themselves. Moffatt has a brilliant response to someone being bitchy about the sunglasses - ‘everybody hates them’, he said that parents are grateful that they can just buy their kids glasses and they are immediately the Doctor.
I think this is the first time I'm hearing of hate for the Sonic Sunglasses. They made perfect sense to me.
@whyemceeay Yet I think Kill The Moon is a great script and episode, let down by only one, easily fixable thing - the whole moon being an egg. They could have easily sorted it by having the same episode but making the creature smaller and have it birth out of a crater on the dark side. That way nothing changes from our perspective, no destroyed moon and no new moon that looks exactly the same. Such an easy fix.
@@lwaves I'm thinking he fixed some series 10 episodes hence not being able to write the full monk trilogy. My bet is he didn't take credit for Oxygen and Empress of Mars + The Eaters of Light but contributed heavily.
@@lwaves It might have been a decent story, with work, but... "only one... ...thing"? The script was rampant with appalling schoolboy science howlers. Yes, they could have been fixed (many of them in the way you suggest, although not all) - but if the script had actually been checked by anyone with a smidging of science knowledge, that work would have happened before it got anywhere near the screen. A reasonably smart 13 year-old could have pointed out several of them; a few minutes with a search engine would have corrected others. Personally it all utterly trashed the episode for me, even on rewatch after years.

“No one is forcing him but the other doctors have done it”... like what? Peter is there to answer questions, it may be a great speech but you would have gotten a swift no from me if I was in Peters shoes. Capaldi was hurting whoever that was with kindness. Glad he stuck up for Matt Smith and respected that it was his speech, really shows you his character.

Its not because the others did it that they didnt respect Matt, they did it because exactly because they respect him and his work on this speech, it doesnt take that much to say a speech that is legendary, only 1 min like seeiously even less time than he take To answer others questions

Adam Darren I was sad to see him do only 3 years, he is the best Doctor since the reboot!
I could've loved 10 more seasons of Capaldi on Dr. Who. He was literally the best since Baker and Pertwee. Whittaker is even pretty good if you take dr. who in a certain context. Better writing could make her awesome. But Capaldi was set to be amazing.
Legend has it that Tenth loved his hair so much, he wouldn't let his future incarnations keep it.

He is a god on this earth... we simply do not deserve him.... My favourite Doctor Who era is 2010 - 2017 it just felt ME.... odd, quirky, scary, dark, twisted, macabre, funny, cold, Spielbergian fantasy..... it was gorgeous and i miss it... Smith was the Mad Man in a Box and Capaldi was the eccentric wizard professor definitely... i miss it. What a genuine soul..... Every film should cast Capaldi i miss him being on our screens weekly.

Peter Capaldi is a class act and probably the best actor to play the Doctor. He loves the show and he cares about and respects the fans. As far as I'm concerned, he's the last true Doctor.
He comes across as such a nice genuine guy and I still miss him as the Doctor. I think he was perfectly cast and wish he stayed on a bit longer as I feel he had more to offer the part.

I was delighted when I heard Peter was going to be the Doctor. He was the perfect choice. I'd love to see him in the - 'Multiple Doctors'. Oh, and I would do ANYTHING to work on that show ( I worked on the 1980s shows as a VT engineer and my Father did the sound on several of the first three Doctors - Now, I want to ACT in it ! - is that asking too much :? -)

It happens when he puts the glove on before the spoon fight. He did it once (casually and disguised) during an Australian interview and Jenna nearly cracked up when she saw it. I've always wondered but never had the chance to ask.

Thanks for posting this ❤️ ❤️ panel. At first, I was like " 😱!! 12's beautiful silvery coif is poofed! FRICK!!!" Luckily, I found out it was for his upcoming role in Suicide Squad 2 ( plz grow it back, I ❤ it the way it was😍...back to the subject at hand...) Capaldi's magic always resonates with each US Comic Con visit he goes, and I for one can truly say that Capaldi's Twelfth Doctor possessed the electrifying power to quicken our pulses, heightened our senses, captivating our emotions, impeccable fashion sense ( ❤ the shades, the 🎸, everything....and the hair, of course 💋.... oops, a little blip there...ahem..) but most importantly...leaves us breathless. This Boston panel ranks right up there with his 2017's panels in Minnesota, Miami, San Diego, and New York City and 2018's Baltimore's and Atlanta's Dragon Con panels ( abit the Baltimore panel was an edited version and all I watched on RUclips... multiple times ). In fact, I just wanted to see this before I resumed watching BBC America's Doctor Who Marathon ( right now as we speak...and in another room, I'm watching Season 10 Episode 10 The Eaters of Light....and we ALL know what comes next....World Enough and Time, The Doctor Falls and Twice Upon a Time..8pm, 9:00pm and 10:30pm... hopefully I'll get to see them before I go to bed.... I work tomorrow...wish me luck 😁 ). Again, thanks for posting Fandom Spotlite, and may we ( and me ) laugh hard, run fast ( or walk fast in my case ) be rockstars in our own right.....and to be kind in the new year....and decade forthcoming.# I STILL haven't let 12 go. Two years later, I still ❤ 12... back to the marathon on BBC America!

The 12th remains my favorite, even after seeing them all. Us graying Scotsmen have to stick together. And hey, if I got to work with (and get hugged frequently by) Jenna Coleman most every day for two years, I wouldn't mind. Lucky man! The question begs: yeah, he's a good man.

@@AlienWithABox Agreed. It's unfortunate that she asked that. Hyperacusis and synesthesia here. Some of these convention videos can be a bit difficult to find a good sound level but, there you go. It's one of those things when you hear a certain type of voice and it rips through your brain, but the question itself was cringeworthy enough. I certainly glad that there are those that take the trouble to record them. I'd never be able to cope with going to one without earplugs.
@@josefschiltz2192 It's simply a convoluted question to ask during a panel...especially when they're trying to wrap it up and get through people quickly.
@@AlienWithABox Exactly. I can understand her interest. People without these heightened senses tend to associate them with madness, which is very unfortunate. Being an artist, I would love to be in contact with Peter as we have converging interests in areas of art. It's just one of those things that you don't try doing that in a convention Q&a. Just enthusiasm got one over clear thinking.
