Hi, My Name is Kathy and I love to sew, especially garments, for myself, my friend and my family. I like to believe I’m on a minimalist journey and will share my closet with you. Five years ago, I started sewing garments after my daughter asked me to teach her to sew and I realized I had forgotten most things! Next came finding social media for sewing and then indy patterns. Currently, I sew almost everyday and love to share this passion with you.
My Measurements are: Height 5”10’, upper bust 37”, bust 40”, waist 34’ at bend and 39’ at the belly button, hips 43”
    Instagram is @mysewingpractice.

Came to watch about the Harmony blouse and Kersoe tank which was very satisfying. OMG ...need to comment about your nephew's jacket. Phenomenal!!! That is something that might come out of a designer shop...so well done. Karen

I’m no sewing or fitting expert but I struggle with fit. I have realized I like less ease than many patterns have. So I use the finished garment measurements to choose a size as well as the pattern measurements. That has helped me a lot. I am also trying to learn more about flat measuring patterns to make some fitting adjustments. It’s not easy!!! Looking forward to your next video!

Thanks for sharing! I will focus on the finished garment measurements more. Like I said, I have a body image problem and I fear things being too tight.

Hi Kathy, so happy to have found & subscribed to your channel as a newbie garment maker, so many good sewing tips, thank you! Cute grandkids. We took our 3 kids to Great Wolfe lodge in WI (I live outside Chicago) when they were about your grandkids ages & I agree it is very loud with need to be on stressful high alert every second for their safety. Very nice LN Harmony top. I love their patterns & met Tami the owner, her sister Tessa & their mom & aunt at a sewing retreat here in Illinois (they are local to me about 30 minutes away) in 2019 & they are all so nice & super talented. Hoping they will offer more retreats & in person classes in their pretty new studio, but nothing yet. I use color catchers every time I wash new garment fabric. Take care & have a good weekend & nice Thanksgiving next week!

Wow you have been busy! Love that little jacket, that looks so perfect and so well made. I also loved those tops you had made and well done for making one out of double gauze, that is just not my favourite material to sew with 😕. That hem shaping was just as I like my hems to be. 👏🏻. 3 grandkids? Gosh I can just about keep up with 2 and although I love them at our house, it’s oh so lovely to have it back to ourselves after they leave isn’t it 🤣😊. Enjoy your weekend 🌸

I love how your top turned out. I have the pattern but have been unsure of which type of linen to use. Cute jacket I have that same pattern but plan to make a romper first.

Thanks! I have been sewing with linen all summer and have determined I favor quite a bit of viscose in my linen.

I think people who dye fabric add salt to set the color. Maybe a little research will help with that red vegetable dyed fabric from JoAnn's?

that's interesting you said that, because I have been researching how to dye with avocados, they give off a pink hue. I wonder how the vinegar effected the dye? I could add some salt, that is what they recommend for plant based fabrics to "stay" the color.
