My Benz won't start a few days ago.
I had it towed to a local shop.
After a day I talked to them.
They said they fixed the problem, and was a faulty fuse.
He said he found a engine misfiring when he took it for a test drive.
They wanted my authorization to continue working on it.
I said no, I will pick up my car this morning.
I do service on my car religiously, I change the oil less then every 5000 km or 3100 miles.
I have never ever had a chech engine light.
Now after 24 hours at their shop I get a "check engine light"?
When I got home, I parked it in my driveway and locked the car.
I always get a beep and flashing lights when Iock it.
Now I only get flashing lights, no beep.
When I call them to see how I can activate my beep, they said I need to bring the car to their shop and book another diagnostic appointment.
Are you kidding me?
So I end up with anther huge bill?
Unbelievable.

That's actually NOT the Sam module! it's an integrated fusible link platform, the SAM is on the other side where there are fuses and relays on top and the electronics are situated underneath on a ,motherboard.if you had a crash there would be a pyrotecnic high amperage fuse that would disengage the power from the battery in the event the vehicles fuel lines are ruptured or if any electrical loads get shorted to create a fire and create a safety hazard.
ha ha ha LOL! I have a door which squeaks like yours. So I'm listening with headset and kept turning around to see who was coming in, was freaking me out til I realised it was on your reecording. LOL!!
Quick question : re: that piece that broke. If I hook up the battery to, let’s say a power pack or a self jumper, will the the car be able to receive power? (As long as it’s still connected ) reason why I ask is because I am trying to figure out if the piece even broke before I disassemble and order. Thanks!!!!

Where would this module be located in the W210 chasis? I have a 2001 e430 is it the k40 module?
My front driver side axle broke off and was running fine up until that time. I noticed the broken axle out in the road while the car was still running, but then shut down and will not start. It is a 2003 Mercedes 430 S 4 matic. Does the fuse in the SAM unit need to be replaced (I have recently installed a new SAM unit) ? Lights come on, everything works but no power.

Hi George my 2012 E class won't start after a crash. I opened up the sam and did continuity and it seems all the fuses are fine but the car still won't start. What can be the problem.
Sir, is this module located in the trunk near my battery on my 2006 S430? My battery is behind passenger rear wheel in the trunk. I have had airbag warning on dash for some time now. I gave the battery a good charge several months ago but no problems starting after that. Car has sat for about a month and I topped off the battery again but No juice when I go to start. I have power everywhere (I hear fuel pump etc). But just won't start. Blade Fuse checks ok. I ordered a $22 starter fuse which will be here tomorrow as a stab in the dark.

Yo Blackguitarist. The proper way to jump start your MB is, you don't need to go anywhere near the battery! Instead you pop the hood, then you look up on the left hand side above the engine and on top the inner wing, back aways toward the windscreen in the area seperated from the engine bay by a rubber seal that snakes it way right across the car. (could be on opposite side on some models)
In that area you should find what looks like a small black plastic box with a flip cover on it about the size of match box though not quite the same dimensions. I looks like it may be hiding a relay or fuses. Often the cover is missing. If you flip the cover it should reveal a brass nut sticking up and nothing else, looks kind of odd. THIS IS POSITIVE LIVE FROM YOUR BATTERY SO BE CAREFUL!
So connect your leads to the battery of the car you're using as your jump, then connect your red positive lead to this brass nut and your black negative lead to somewhere on the engine casting, anywhere that you can get a good connection, I usually use the engine lifting eye. Always do it in this order not the negative first as connecting the positive second makes a spark and may ignite any fuel vapours.
Now raise the rpm on the jumper car for a couple of minutes to get some charge into your battery. Most likely you have someone helping you who drove the jumper car so they can sit in the jumper car with their foot on the gas, only a little to about 1200 rpm or so while you get in the dead car and crank her over, it should start easy. If you're doing this on your own then just sit in the jumper car for say five minutes with your foot on the gas to charge up your battery. (Or of course you can pull the throttle lever from under the hood if you know where it is, if you don't know then you'd better not try.) Hope that helps. Best, Guy.
It is not a good idea to keep the good car running while cranking the flat car.
You are effectively shorting out the running alternator with 200 amps trying to crank the flat car !
Better procedure is as you describe to begin with : run the good car for 15 mins with leads connected. This is enough time to charge a good (but flat) battery.
After 15 mins turn the running car OFF and then start the car being helped.
That way you will never damage an alternator.
You will get caught out one day leaving the good car running by destroying the alternator :)
@@timofglazz388 It doesn't matter what rating the alternator has! None of them are designed to have a starter motor strapped across them. Its like shorting the rectifier pack out with a 6" nail. I have not damaged an alternator myself but I know several cases of such damage where folk have left the engine running trying to jump start the other dead car and then wonder why their charge lamp came on afterwards !
I think you've just been lucky not to have damaged your own alternator jumping others with yours running .
Anyway I guess we beg to differ so I'll carry on with my long tried methods because they work for me :)

Hi, just saw and like your video on prefuse box repair. I have 2012 Mercedes E550. My electric steering malfunction code shows on dash. I did fuse repair in the prefuse box and it worked for a while but not working anymore. How do I troubleshoot this? Jim
i have a 2008 s550 it has 2 new batteries i drove it a lil bit last week and yesterday it was dead i had to use the key in the remote to unlock the door and tried to jump it but its dead nothing comes on. this was my first time using cables on it and the air bag has never been deployed. the SRS malfunction light was on last few times i drove it. do you think the SRS light has something to do with this issue
I have a 2006 sprinter. I replace the signal /wiper switch and put the power for the fuse box on the wrong bolt. Then realized the mistake then corrected it. Now I am not getting any electronic in the entire van. Only getting power in the lighter. I replaced some fuses add and still having the same issue. Any suggestions
I have a 2007 ML320 CDI I crossed the jumper cables which threw some sparks.. the key was off at the time, now there is no power to the car, i removed the SAM near the battery but there is no fuse as shown in the video just a couple of large clip fuses and 3 small clip fuses. Is there a different location for the fuse?

Hi there any help would be appreciated: 2012 Sprinter 3500, starting issue: Only way it starts up if there is a external power connection. The battery is new but still will not start on its own. I added a external pocket starter which has a digital voltage reader and sometimes it will show three - - - dashes and other times it will show 14.2v, now it will only start when there is 14.2v visible, im thinking a bad connection somewhere?? Purchased form auction
2011 E350 coupe. Engine cut- while doing 65 on freeway, entire dashboard lit up, coasted over to emergency area. Put in park then could not get it out of park roadside service could not get it started with a jump. Had it towed to house. Might this be the problem?

George: what do you think here please: 09 GL320, powers up but message about do not take vehicle out of park, or something. I am not at the vehicle. CEL has been on for awhile. I put a small inexpensive scanner on it, and attempted to clear the codes. IMMEDIATELY thereafter this problem appears. Battery was disconnected about 15-20 min, and then started and drove normally. Now doing it again. CEL still on of course.

What just work for me was putting the key in the ignition leaving it on the on position and then tapping a jump onto the car the alarm did not go off in the car started right up

So I have 08 ml350 I had no starting issue at all but battery was draining over 3 hours. I did parasitic draw test found the 5 amp fuse # 54 was the cause witch is headlamp range adjustment control unit front SAM control. No I have no communication with ECM and can code 9021. Don’t know what to do from here.
First of all I got to say you don't show where this module is so you know you could have uploaded that and edited it in. Second you not really saying what Mercedes models on model variants are covered. Really should least put something in the description.

smithy002000 if you replace module with exchange you will need to RECODE IT TO YOUR CAR with a MB CAN Bus tool or MB Xentry... so the best thing is to REPAIR your very own module then NO RECODING needed! (do your forum reading around about that coding topic to learn abc's)

2004 Mercedes S-600 v-12 duel turbo crank no start suspension down hydraulic can’t get it up. mine is a 2008 s550 and this module has fuses on top of it. a 40 a 75 and 15 the 40 is a big fuse i took it out put it back and the car had power again. i drove it and the next morning no power again

had the same issue in July of 2017 - our problem was in the transmission and was a dealer only repair, cost was $2000.

That's not a SAM module (Signal Aquisition Module), it's a prefuse module.

Im having a problem with a no start after replacing the headliner.. all the done lights work. But no lights on dash when I put in key. Key fob doesn't work for anything, no power to door lock or windows. Both batteries have power under passenger seat. It's a 2011 ml350. I'm pretty sure there's nothing that was left unplugged.
my Mercedes-benz e250 2010 is shutting down when the rpm is low, plus sometimes I kickdown the fuel paddle, the RPM goes to 4-5 but no power, and sometimes the vehicle works perfectly, can you please help me ? i changed the crankshaft and the camshaft but still have the same issue,

I’m having a problem with my 2015, Mercedes ML 350 where once in a while I’ll get in the car everything‘s normal but when I push the start button everything goes black no power nothing works. But when I put my charging Bank on it for a few seconds at a crank right back up and everything seems normal. Have any ideas what might be causing that? Thanks in advance for any help.
Interesting. I have an 06 C230 sport that I tried to jump-start due to a dead battery ( no other issues ). When I turn on the ignition, all the lights on the dash come on, but the engine will not turn over. I checked and jumped the starter relay on the left side fuse box under the hood and the starter cranks fine, so I am curious if this "could" be the issue.
Does your cigarette lighter outlet not work as well as the radio turning off after only a few minutes? I have the same issue except these added on top, brand new battery, fixed the issue for about 1 week, then back to not even being able to jump start, even on a charger over night, yet lights everywhere work fine, now I did notice lights and electrical activity delay after I’ve turned the key more then a few times like The next day when I open the door or a few hours later to get back into the car the lights - take a few seconds delay to turn on

hey george.. i have a 2010 s400 mercedes hybrid. and it wont start or even get nay power. i changed the converter because the benz dealership told me that this is what i needed. after getting a new converter installed which was stupid expensive .. the car still dint stat or get any power. how can i check the computer to see what the problem is and see if this module is in fact the problem.
Hello Hector , I have the same problem s400 hybrid , the mb dealership told me to change the convertor and I didn't accept that thinking it's something eles like starter or something , I didn't do more diagnosis , hopefully you can help me and tell me how you fixed yours please .thanks
I have a c220 cdi w203 that has a similar issue. The glow plug lights stays on. As long as the glow light comes on and stays on when i crank the car, it will start. As soon as that light does not come on when you switch the ignition on, the car has no action to the starter. the rest of the light are on but the car does not crank. The computer is rep[laced all ready, as well as the glow plug module and the battery, no fix.
When the glow light does not come on and i jump start the car with another car with a strong alternator, it starts every time. Only trouble code is P0683, Glow plug module to PCM communication circuit.
As i say we have changed the glow plug module.
The car would start for a long time and it could also go 2 weeks without cranking. Unless you jump it, and only with a car with a strong alternator. My sisters golf 1, does not start it, my vw Bora 1.8T starts it. My pajero/montero gen 2, 3,5 v6 starts it. My friends camary, dont start it. Jump starting it with even 2 batteries, no start.
So if the Glow light comes on the car will start. If the glow light stays of but all other lights come on there is not even a clicking noise from the starter. Oh and if the glow light does not come on the diagnostic does not read the computer. It syas communication error. But when glow light comes on and car starts then i can do diagnostic and only error code is P0683 from my autel .
Any advise.

Yes that part should work. You can always call your local dealer and give him your vin number and then give him this part number to verify. But I am 99% sure its the same.
