You’re a lifesaver! I owe you. I have a 2008 Mercedes C300. It wouldn’t start. It wasn’t a battery or alternator issue so I thought it was the starter until I seen this video. It was the steering lock issue because when I put the key in I didn’t hear the zip noise like you mention, so I did what you said by putting the key in and turning the steering wheel back & forth and that un jam the steering lock & that fix the issue. My car started right up. Thank you my friend I was preparing to take it to the shop. Where can I send you at least $20 for your help?

Wow, my Mercedes c300 has been sitting on my driveway for 6months because I thought it was the ESL. After looking at this video it make me take a look at my 2yr old battery. And yes, it was no good. I replaced it and now the car turns on. Smh!!! Man!! I feel dumb. But thanks you really help me out. All other videos tell you it’s the ESL, but you explain what it does if you have a good ESL or not, that really helped me out too. Thank again!

We been having bad storms and did not drive the car for 5 days ! And the car was dead ! Dead dead no crank no start ! After taking it to a shop ! The guy claims I need a new fuel pump at the cost of $1000 parts and labor ! Had it towed back to my apartment as I knew that was not the problem! Was able to get it star and run ! But unfortunately the repair shop had stollen parts from the car ! The break light switch and even the connector and harness are gone
I have a 1999 C230 Kompressor, W202. The tip start worked intermittently, sometimes requiring several tries to start the car. I tried a number of things including new relay, new starter and solenoid, new fuse box, new battery and removing the key assembly to have it checked over with the keys. All to no avail. Finally a light dawned and I realized that it is an infrared key. I cleaned the tip of the key with glass cleaner and I wiped the inside of the ignition latch with q-tips. Problem resolved. Hope this helps.

My husband just bought a 2010 Mercedes S550V with 34k miles and three keys, and hasn't owned it for only 2 weeks and i have driven it to work and returned to him when suddenly it wouldn't start or anything. I drove it four one week from dealership and everyone is charging $600-$1000 to do a diagnostic test on it to see what the issue is but all of the lights on the dash are all on but no start. My 2010 C220 wouldn't turn over despite the battery being fully charged. I tried the trick of moving the steering wheel as suggested in the video and the steering lock disengaged. The engine jumped into life when I turned the key. Thanks for the tip!

Thanks for the information. I have a 16 c300 that won’t start. However mine is recognizing it’s on park. I have many mechanics that looked at it and went through it even the local dealership. As a matter of fact the Mercedes dealership also requested a technician from Germany to look at it and with out any luck. I had to tow the vehicle out and still trying to find out what’s wrong.
I don’t understand why Mercedes can’t solve arising issues with their vehicles🙄 I seems to me they just Love whacking people with over charges!! That’s why I’m going back to Lexus!!
I have a 2008 C300 that wouldn't start because of the steering lock failure. The battery was okay, no lights on dash. To avoid a tow, I released the steering wheel level adjuster (underneath the steering column), and slammed the steering wheel up and down. This released the lock and I was able to start it. Drove it to a shop for repair. This is only a temporary solution to avoid a tow.
Great video. I got my car to start wiggling my steering wheel and inserting the key and it released the steer lock. Life saver I literally canceled my tow truck right when It got there lol
Jim Gar my steering wheel locked for the first time got a jump from another car the car starts but have a voltage of 11 while running do you think that could cause the lock position thanks
@@cease19811 I've heard from some that replacing the battery was a temporary fix. Eventually their steering locked and had to get fixed. In my case my steering eventually locked again and replacing the battery didn't fix it. Had to replace the ESL motor.

Your video is really great, especially 4th option, I want to explain my situation, I had a battery problem and I have changed the battery, but what I did with battery, it was 82AH (actual) and I replaced with 80AH (correct me if it the good idea to do so or not) why because I didn't find 82AH battery in market. Well, now after replacing the battery the first start was good, but next morning my car is not starting at all, everything happing same as you explaining in your video, can open doors, lights are on, car lock sounds are there but not starting - please help me - Thanks
Thanks for the prompt response - well, last Thursday car I went office with car in the morning and afternoon I went for lunch by drive everything was okay, but when I back from restaurant and try to start my car was not happening, so I call my friend for help and he suggest me to do jumper, so I did and car started. Therefore, I look for battery replacement as that battery was even old, I have changed the battery yesterday evening, and back to home. Today morning also it was started without any noise and I went to the office but after around an hour I want to go out and try to start the car but :( everything looks fine to me, just not starting, I am afraid If goto mechanic they will charge like anything :(
M10vir Kemosabe you need to check your alternator or if you have power draw from a bad module or motor (window motor, seat motor etc) charge your battery again and try to start if after charging the battery the car starts than you have to check what’s killing the battery if it doesn’t start after fully charging the battery you need to check the starter.
Folks, when you turn the key, and the engine starts to turn over, then stops, it could be as simple as corrosion on the connectors in the electronic ignition switch module. just remove the EIS and disassemble and clean all the contacts and reassemble.
David Jacobs when I put my key in and turn it doesn’t even crank. The battery is good for sure it’s been tested and the radio and everything else works fine.

Hi there! I have a 2008 Mercedes c350 4matic. Car will not start at a all. The key fob seems to work fine with unlocking/locking of doors and with illumination lights showing up but only in the middle tachometer where mileage is located. So battery seems to be okay. Also I'm able turn the key in the Ignition all the way to the right but with no response whatsoever unfortunately. Any advice or solutions you may know of? Really appreciate it! 🙏🏾
I have a c250 2012 drove it about a block then it completely shut off. It unlocks and the radio works but I cannot move it out of gear. The key turns to 4 but won’t turn on. ( last few weeks I noticed it kinda got stuck when pressing the gas) like it would take longer to respond. Any thoughts?
Hi I have a 2011 E350 cupe when i put the key in the ignition it turns but ignition lights don't come on then I have to play with it taking the key out and putting back in 3-4 sometimes 7-9 times before the lights turn on and it starts I changed batteries on both ignition keys still the same problem? My 2013 c300 was taking a few tries to start but it would start. Couple days ago it happened again but there was no noise when I inserted the key. Car seemed dead. Waited few minutes and it started. This morning I shook the steering wheel before inserting the key and it started right away. When I left work I turned the key, but didn't move the steering wheel, it didn't Start. Repeated the process this time including moving the steering wheel and it started. Stopped at store, left the car , came back, moved the steering wheel , inserted the key and it started right away. Thanks man!!!! But one question. Why is this happening?

Helpful video 👍 I have an issue with a 2012 GLK350. The battery and alternator were tested and are working as expected, but engine will not turn over. I can hear the clicking noise when attempting to start the car but it will not turn over. It's the same with a jump from another battery. This statement a couple months ago. Sometimes it will work after 5 for 6 attempts. Does this seem to be a starter issue?
@@MercedesBenzTechs Thank you. The battery terminal connections are secure. This problem exists even when attempting to start the engine with the good battery and jumper cables. Can this be due to a faulty starter relay?
This video summarizes how I just diagnosed a 2008 CLS 550 with a no crank no start. First lights and accessories worked. So next went onto battery. Battery was good according to tester. Next I checked on my Scanner for drive authorization and if there were and codes with the EIS and none and drive authorization said yes. You could hear the steering lock disengage when inserting key and no crank in park or neutral. next went out to the sam. no fuse blown and replaced relay... nothing. Next suspicion was either bad SAM or bad starter. I think that is where I deviated from your video... it ended up being a bad starter but what if it was a bad sam??? would you see other things failing? or
also if the vehicle intermittently starts my first suspicion would be corroded wires especially if its after the car is heat soaked. Do mercedes commonly have ground corrosion issues???

I have a 2005 Mercedes . It runs fine but sometimes the dashboard, ac, radio won’t turn on when I start it up. But it drives. Once I drive around for a while and turn it off and back on everything works again.
That's the problem with newer Mercedes. The company unnecessarily made it complicated so that the owner will simple sell it if problems like this begins!!!
They're german. Everything is unnecessarily complicated, but it somehow works. I had an old brit teacher in med school who told us to "stop being german" when we tried to find complicated solutions for simple problems.
I changed my fuel pump and it started up rite away,the next day I went to start it and the car just turned over but not start up and run,so I changed fuel filter but no luck,I checked fuses and they are good,haven't checked relays yet,I have 2006 c 230
My ML320 occasionally (usually at the worst time) won't start. I've studied, checked components, still no definite diagnosis. I think its the starter. Even if the battery shows 12.6 volts a 10 minute jump fires it up. Battery is good. New key helped in the past. Also dealing with transmission leak. Learned a lot about that one, including a diy transmission dipstick...
Thanks for the good information, but it the trouble shooting didn't include mine . I just replaced the auxiliary small battery on my 2006, e350 Mercedes-Benz. When I tried to start the car, there no light on dashboard. Therefore the key doesn't go in and the car doesn't start. Can you please let me know what is going on? Thank you.
After checking all of that could be crankshaft positing sensor bad it's located between the engine and transmission for the do it yourself it will give a code most time po335

My car was locked for about a month, I went out to start the repair this weekend, reached over and opened the passenger side door because I was hot and suddenly the car came alive and steering unlocked ...It has started every-time since this happened...I have no idea what happened and will probably get rid of this car because not sure when this may happen again.
W209 320 situation: woke up one morning tried to drive my car, I pressed unlock on the key fob and car wouldn't unlock. None of the buttons worked. Took the metal turn key out the fob and unlocked the driver door, put it in the ignition and it wouldn't turn. No interior lights work or headlights after checking headlight switch. Smh Edit1: just tried the steering wheel method, turned the wheel while turning the fob in the ignition and nothing happened. I'll try changing the fob battery.
Hello I have a 2010 c300. I cant get it to start. I turn the key and nothing. The radio and lights come on. But it won't start. I cant shift the gear out of park either. When i place my key in the ignition the dash says, remove key from ignition. I tried both of my keys and same thing. Battery is also good. Thoughts?
Cat allack steering lock, do you hear the steering lock retract when you put key in? Is steering wheel locked when you try to wiggle it from side to side when key is out of the ignition ? The C300 has a common problem of the steering lock stop working and since it’s part of the drive authorization it will not let you start the car when it’s faulty. About $1,000 give or take, TRP do only authorized shops can replace and programmed. Good luck

Mercedes Benz Techs my car is doing the exact same thing it won’t start or even turn or click. The radio works and but windows don’t and the dash lights do come on. I was having a cam shaft sensor problem earlier could that be it???
Regarding the battery .When the battery doesn't turn over the engine and you've close to 12 volts does that mean you don't have enough cold cranking amps? Would that mean your battery has a dead cell.
I have an 09 S550. My yellow marker light in the back randomly comes on by itself…my other lights on the light switch that switch between left and right stopped working, but the high beams come on. Key won’t lock or unlock that doors…after I jumped the battery & the key unlocks the doors & cranks, that light is still by itself…kicks on at random times….any feedback as to what is causing this will help….
Hi there! I have a 2014 e63-S and it started having random issues not starting. I’d go out for dinner, go out to the parking lot and car won’t start. But I just drove it, battery is good, key is good. When I try to start it’s like when I push the button it isn’t recognizing that my foot is on the brake. Even when I remove the button and use the physical key the car doesn’t turn over or even try. Like it’s not recognizing I’m trying to start it. Happened to me last week and after trying like 20 times it just randomly started fine. Happened a few more times, and now it won’t start at all no matter how many times I try. I’ve spent hours. Battery is fine, full power, key fob fine etc. I was told maybe brake light switch to cause it to stop from starting. Any ideas? Key turns, the car just doesn’t even try to start. It just goes to position 2 and when I turn it, it turns but nothing happens to the car.

The glass does not open, the eternal problem with firing like in your movie and today he is crazy he started to open the boot as I press the brake.
I’ve got a 2001 s500 with a crank no start . Before it stopped starting there were times when I went to start it and it was like the key got stuck in the crank position and would have a unusually long crank before it would start . I do understand when you turn the key you’re supposed to just let go and not hold it in the crank position. Sometimes I’d turn the ignition off and start over if it cranked to long and it usually would be fine and start right up until now. Gonna buy a scanner and see if I get any codes but so far no check engine light so if anyone has any input I’d appreciate it thanks.
Take ofc top of the rally and try to start by push ralley if not crankling starter gone if starter crankling is something wrong with starting lock or key

Usually fuse 52 in your front Sam “start enable” is the fuse. Starter relay is the small rectangle type, usually consigned with a mark “S” underneath the relay (marked on the plug socket itself)

Hi. Great channel. I have a e 270 cdi 2005 model. Battery is in the boot. The car was working fine. Parked it in the garage. Came back 2 weeks later. Battery was dead. Tried using good quality jumper cables. Car wouldn't start just made a clicking sound, I then took the battery to be charged, its carong power but car still doing the same thing and on the dash it says battery protection mode disabled. I have a 2002 CL600 V12... it was misfiring, in all cylinders, so I removed the coil packs to inspect the condition and the boots and sparks, after a cleanup and reinstall the car suddenly did not start the engine again, it turns all lights, I can open the key and move the shifter through the gears but it won't start the engine, it simply does not make any click or nothing, the power windows are not working also.
I have a 2010 C300. Steering locked on me the other day when I was removing my head lights as I had the front wheels turned to one side to access fender well. Had to jiggle the steering wheel to get to get it to unlock while key was on the ON position. Today it won't start again. Bu this time steering is not locked. I can turn it with enough force. Car will unlock/lock. I can use the key fob to roll all the windows up or down but if I use the buttons inside I can't roll up /down the windows. Stereo will not turn on automatically but it will if I press the on button. Headlights won't turn on. Steering will come down automatically sometimes. No whirl sound coming for the column. Jumping the car didn't help. Jiggling the steering left and right didn't work this time. So I think this is another EIS issue. I assumed this only happened on 2008 2009 cars. Had the car for 6 years at 165k miles.
I have a 2004 sl500 and it started i moved it to work on the suspension issue. The back baytery was dead and wouldnt hold a charge so i replaced it and checked tge front is fine. Now the car wont start, everything lights up and i here a click but wont turnover. I have never had an issue with the starter which i woild think it would before going bad...is there anything it could be?
I have a CL500 2002 been sat in my drive 6 months. Put new battery in and all dashboard lights lit up. But want turn over and also the fan goes on like it’s trying to cool the engine. Any ideas. Or shall I go ahead with your 4 tries. Thanks.

Thank you for the video, I have a 2007 S550 i’m very mechanically knowledgeable. I stop by the store to pick up stuff came back turn the keys on lights goes on everything‘s on but the starter would not crank now the 2007 have a fuse box in the right hand side on the left-hand side have a small box with a 40 amp fuse and three fuses I believe those for the starter. My keys is good. I even have a spare keys. I tried when I turn the Keith’s decision four the starter would not turn over I have a brand new battery, i’ll trade my spare key as well. I have a 2010 s550 4-Matic that won't start and the battery is not even 6mos old. All electrical instrumentation works fine and the key clicker locks & unlocks doors with no issue. Only problem is when I try to crank it and get nothing but all lights work fine. I understand it could be the sensor inside the key or a blown fuse in the SAM or ISM panel box? Any suggestions? Did you get this fixed? What was the issue? I am having the same issue with my 2010 E350. All lights come on including radio, I can roll down the windows but when I turn the ignition there is no sound at all.
Tonya M. He has different system than you, he has two batteries and yes he did get it resolved, it was his starter battery. Always check your battery first, the starter needs cranking power the lights don’t. If battery is fine, check your starter, if both good, check with another key(you should have two). If nothing works take it to the shop.
Thank you. I have replaced the battery and was told it could be the EIS so I had it towed to a shop. But since the shop owner was able to get the car to start after wiggling the key in the ignition a couple of times I was told it was fine and charged for diagnostic test and sent on my way. I got the car home and now can not get it to start again. I unfortunately only have one key.

Every Mercedes vehicle should have two working keys, the key is not only turning the car on but it is also a part of your drive authorization, a good technician should be able to tell you if your EIS (Electronic Ignition System) is faulty, if he charged you diag and fail to tell you what the problem is you should ask him to repeat the process or refund the money regardless, order a new key from Mercedes, should be around $300 you need to have two keys and take it to a reputable Mercedes shop around you, check their reviews before you take your car there, just google Mercedes repair shop near me or something like that and read their reviews.
Your Video was GREAT!!!!. My problem is I had my 2003 E320 Brake Operating Unit replaces & both batteries replaces. 6months later, now I have to jump the battery all the time. Some said It's the SAM Mudule. is that right.
look at the alternator charge voltage while driving (use the "service menu")... it is controlled directly by the main fuel injection computer and uses various sensors across the entire car (temperature, battery sensor, battery control module)
How common are the Mercedes fuses to buy? Do auto parts stores such as Advanced Auto hv them on hand? Also i hv a 2004 Ml350. Put in new starter, it turned over, lasted for a month that way, then wouldn't turn over again. I replaced it with another brand new starter and it wouldn't turn over. Lights on all the lights on the dash but just won't fire up won't even click. if there's any way out of bringing it to my mechanic please let me know, battery fine, fuses I've shifted around to check it seemed okay.
Yes I have an 08 S 63 car starts and runs fine with the key however the push button will not start the car once the key has entered the ignition you can take the Key out and all the functions on the fob work fine however after a period of time it seems like the system in the car shuts down and the remote no longer works any help would be appreciated I’ve checked all the fuse panels but not the relays

Hi , i have a 2006 Mercedes B200, 3 days ago i opened the fuse cover to review if a fuse are open due to the wippers are not working... i'm testex all the fuses with a multimeter and i pulled out a couple to test if are good..... all of them are good, but know the car is not working.... the dashboard on, radio, windows powers, but the starter is not activating.... the key open the switch and I move the knob to neutral and nothing..... literal i didn't do noting to damage the car and is not working.... what I can do to find the problem... a technitian scann the car and it said somethink like ... the car is registering a manual transmision instead of an automatic transmision.... any help will be highli appreciated
You’re a lifesaver! I owe you. I have a 2008 Mercedes C300. It wouldn’t start. It wasn’t a battery or alternator issue so I thought it was the starter until I seen this video. It was the steering lock issue because when I put the key in I didn’t hear the zip noise like you mention, so I did what you said by putting the key in and turning the steering wheel back & forth and that un jam the steering lock & that fix the issue. My car started right up. Thank you my friend I was preparing to take it to the shop. Where can I send you at least $20 for your help?
Hopefully it doesn’t happen again. Make sure when you come to a park, keep steering wheel straight so it doesn’t set back in the lock

Wow, my Mercedes c300 has been sitting on my driveway for 6months because I thought it was the ESL. After looking at this video it make me take a look at my 2yr old battery. And yes, it was no good. I replaced it and now the car turns on. Smh!!! Man!! I feel dumb. But thanks you really help me out. All other videos tell you it’s the ESL, but you explain what it does if you have a good ESL or not, that really helped me out too. Thank again!

Thanks so much for sharing your videos and helping others ! Your videos help solve my issues after dealing with a very dishonest auto repair shop !! Have an ml 350 , 2005 with 109 k miles ! We been having bad storms and did not drive the car for 5 days ! And the car was dead ! Dead dead no crank no start ! After taking it to a shop ! The guy claims I need a new fuel pump at the cost of $1000 parts and labor ! Had it towed back to my apartment as I knew that was not the problem! Was able to get it star and run ! But unfortunately the repair shop had stollen parts from the car ! The break light switch and even the connector and harness are gone

I have a 1999 C230 Kompressor, W202. The tip start worked intermittently, sometimes requiring several tries to start the car. I tried a number of things including new relay, new starter and solenoid, new fuse box, new battery and removing the key assembly to have it checked over with the keys. All to no avail. Finally a light dawned and I realized that it is an infrared key. I cleaned the tip of the key with glass cleaner and I wiped the inside of the ignition latch with q-tips. Problem resolved. Hope this helps.

My husband just bought a 2010 Mercedes S550V with 34k miles and three keys, and hasn't owned it for only 2 weeks and i have driven it to work and returned to him when suddenly it wouldn't start or anything. I drove it four one week from dealership and everyone is charging $600-$1000 to do a diagnostic test on it to see what the issue is but all of the lights on the dash are all on but no start. My 2010 C220 wouldn't turn over despite the battery being fully charged. I tried the trick of moving the steering wheel as suggested in the video and the steering lock disengaged. The engine jumped into life when I turned the key. Thanks for the tip!

Thanks for the information. I have a 16 c300 that won’t start. However mine is recognizing it’s on park. I have many mechanics that looked at it and went through it even the local dealership. As a matter of fact the Mercedes dealership also requested a technician from Germany to look at it and with out any luck. I had to tow the vehicle out and still trying to find out what’s wrong.

I have a 2008 C300 that wouldn't start because of the steering lock failure. The battery was okay, no lights on dash. To avoid a tow, I released the steering wheel level adjuster (underneath the steering column), and slammed the steering wheel up and down. This released the lock and I was able to start it. Drove it to a shop for repair. This is only a temporary solution to avoid a tow.

Great video. I got my car to start wiggling my steering wheel and inserting the key and it released the steer lock. Life saver I literally canceled my tow truck right when It got there lol

@@cease19811 I've heard from some that replacing the battery was a temporary fix. Eventually their steering locked and had to get fixed. In my case my steering eventually locked again and replacing the battery didn't fix it. Had to replace the ESL motor.

Your video is really great, especially 4th option, I want to explain my situation, I had a battery problem and I have changed the battery, but what I did with battery, it was 82AH (actual) and I replaced with 80AH (correct me if it the good idea to do so or not) why because I didn't find 82AH battery in market. Thanks for the prompt response - well, last Thursday car I went office with car in the morning and afternoon I went for lunch by drive everything was okay, but when I back from restaurant and try to start my car was not happening, so I call my friend for help and he suggest me to do jumper, so I did and car started. Therefore, I look for battery replacement as that battery was even old, I have changed the battery yesterday evening, and back to home. Today morning also it was started without any noise and I went to the office but after around an hour I want to go out and try to start the car but :( everything looks fine to me, just not starting, I am afraid If goto mechanic they will charge like anything :(
M10vir Kemosabe you need to check your alternator or if you have power draw from a bad module or motor (window motor, seat motor etc) charge your battery again and try to start if after charging the battery the car starts than you have to check what’s killing the battery if it doesn’t start after fully charging the battery you need to check the starter.

Folks, when you turn the key, and the engine starts to turn over, then stops,
it could be as simple as corrosion on the connectors in the electronic ignition switch module.
just remove the EIS and disassemble and clean all the contacts and reassemble.
David Jacobs when I put my key in and turn it doesn’t even crank. The battery is good for sure it’s been tested and the radio and everything else works fine.

Hi there! I have a 2008 Mercedes c350 4matic. Car will not start at a
all. The key fob seems to work fine with unlocking/locking of doors and with illumination lights showing up but only in the middle tachometer where mileage is located. So battery seems to be okay. Also I'm able turn the key in the Ignition all the way to the right but with no response whatsoever unfortunately. Any advice or solutions you may know of? Really appreciate it! 🙏🏾

I have a c250 2012 drove it about a block then it completely shut off. It unlocks and the radio works but I cannot move it out of gear. The key turns to 4 but won’t turn on. ( last few weeks I noticed it kinda got stuck when pressing the gas) like it would take longer to respond. Any thoughts?

My 2013 c300 was taking a few tries to start but it would start. Couple days ago it happened again but there was no noise when I inserted the key. Car seemed dead. Waited few minutes and it started. This morning I shook the steering wheel before inserting the key and it started right away. When I left work I turned the key, but didn't move the steering wheel, it didn't Start. Repeated the process this time including moving the steering wheel and it started. Stopped at store, left the car , came back, moved the steering wheel , inserted the key and it started right away. I have an issue with a 2012 GLK350. The battery and alternator were tested and are working as expected, but engine will not turn over. I can hear the clicking noise when attempting to start the car but it will not turn over. It's the same with a jump from another battery.
This statement a couple months ago. Sometimes it will work after 5 for 6 attempts. Does this seem to be a starter issue?
Can be a starter but can also be a loose contact, check the terminals on the battery, make sure they are tight..

Thank you. The battery terminal connections are secure. This problem exists even when attempting to start the engine with the good battery and jumper cables.

Starter is on the back of the engine on the passenger side about half way down, you will have to get to it from the bottom of the car.

What can it be?
This video summarizes how I just diagnosed a 2008 CLS 550 with a no crank no start. First lights and accessories worked. So next went onto battery. Battery was good according to tester. Next I checked on my Scanner for drive authorization and if there were and codes with the EIS and none and drive authorization said yes. You could hear the steering lock disengage when inserting key and no crank in park or neutral. next went out to the sam. no fuse blown and replaced relay... nothing. Next suspicion was either bad SAM or bad starter. I think that is where I deviated from your video... it ended up being a bad starter but what if it was a bad sam??? would you see other things failing?

also if the vehicle intermittently starts my first suspicion would be corroded wires especially if its after the car is heat soaked. Do mercedes commonly have ground corrosion issues???
I detached the connector from the battery source and it reseted the whole system and it turned on afterward, you can try this also.

Michael Annor I think your fuel gage is wrong, it shows 1/4 tank but you are empty or your fuel sender unit is bad

I have a 2005 Mercedes . It runs fine but sometimes the dashboard, ac, radio won’t turn on when I start it up. But it drives. Once I drive around for a while and turn it off and back on everything works again.
That's the problem with newer Mercedes. The company unnecessarily made it complicated so that the owner will simple sell it if problems like this begins!!!
They're german. Everything is unnecessarily complicated, but it somehow works. I had an old brit teacher in med school who told us to "stop being german" when we tried to find complicated solutions for simple problems.
I changed my fuel pump and it started up rite away,the next day I went to start it and the car just turned over but not start up and run,so I changed fuel filter but no luck,I checked fuses and they are good,haven't checked relays yet,I have 2006 c 230
Check your work again or test the pump you just installed, make sure it gets power
If the wheel is locked, try push the shifter forward then try to turn wheel. Works for my ML320
My ML320 occasionally (usually at the worst time) won't start. I've studied, checked components, still no definite diagnosis. I think its the starter. Even if the battery shows 12.6 volts a 10 minute jump fires it up. Battery is good. New key helped in the past. Also dealing with transmission leak. Learned a lot about that one, including a diy transmission dipstick...
Thanks for the good information, but it the trouble shooting didn't include mine . I just replaced the auxiliary small battery on my 2006, e350 Mercedes-Benz. When I tried to start the car, there no light on dashboard. Therefore the key doesn't go in and the car doesn't start. Can you please let me know what is going on?

After checking all of that could be crankshaft positing sensor bad it's located between the engine and transmission for the do it yourself it will give a code most time po335

My car was locked for about a month, I went out to start the repair this weekend, reached over and opened the passenger side door because I was hot and suddenly the car came alive and steering unlocked ...It has started every-time since this happened...I have no idea what happened and will probably get rid of this car because not sure when this may happen again.

W209 320 situation: woke up one morning tried to drive my car, I pressed unlock on the key fob and car wouldn't unlock. None of the buttons worked. Took the metal turn key out the fob and unlocked the driver door, put it in the ignition and it wouldn't turn. No interior lights work or headlights after checking headlight switch. Smh
Edit1: just tried the steering wheel method, turned the wheel while turning the fob in the ignition and nothing happened. I'll try changing the fob battery.

Cat allack steering lock, do you hear the steering lock retract when you put key in? Is steering wheel locked when you try to wiggle it from side to side when key is out of the ignition ? The C300 has a common problem of the steering lock stop working and since it’s part of the drive authorization it will not let you start the car when it’s faulty. About $1,000 give or take, TRP do only authorized shops can replace and programmed. Good luck

Regarding the battery .When the battery doesn't turn over the engine and you've close to 12 volts does that mean you don't have enough cold cranking amps? Would that mean your battery has a dead cell.

I have an 09 S550. My yellow marker light in the back randomly comes on by itself…my other lights on the light switch that switch between left and right stopped working, but the high beams come on. Key won’t lock or unlock that doors…after I jumped the battery & the key unlocks the doors & cranks, that light is still by itself…kicks on at random times….any feedback as to what is causing this will help….
Sounds like several different problems, try changing the battery on the fob also, sounds like maybe your combination switch might be bad
Hi there! I have a 2014 e63-S and it started having random issues not starting. I’d go out for dinner, go out to the parking lot and car won’t start. But I just drove it, battery is good, key is good. When I try to start it’s like when I push the button it isn’t recognizing that my foot is on the brake. Even when I remove the button and use the physical key the car doesn’t turn over or even try. Like it’s not recognizing I’m trying to start it. Happened to me last week and after trying like 20 times it just randomly started fine. Happened a few more times, and now it won’t start at all no matter how many times I try. I’ve spent hours. Battery is fine, full power, key fob fine etc. I was told maybe brake light switch to cause it to stop from starting. Any ideas? Key turns, the car just doesn’t even try to start. It just goes to position 2 and when I turn it, it turns but nothing happens to the car.

I have a 2011 glk350. Steering isn’t locked. Got new battery and starter. I don’t hear that zip noise though. My key only work when I’m close on the vehicle. Dash just says take key from ignition. Radio comes on. Interior lights and headlights come on when I hit the alarm. But no start at all.

I’ve got a 2001 s500 with a crank no start . Before it stopped starting there were times when I went to start it and it was like the key got stuck in the crank position and would have a unusually long crank before it would start . I do understand when you turn the key you’re supposed to just let go and not hold it in the crank position. Sometimes I’d turn the ignition off and start over if it cranked to long and it usually would be fine and start right up until now. Gonna buy a scanner and see if I get any codes but so far no check engine light so if anyone has any input I’d appreciate it thanks.
Take ofc top of the rally and try to start by push ralley if not crankling starter gone if starter crankling is something wrong with starting lock or key

Where on that fuse diagram does it show which is your starter relay? My just shows the relay, not lableled.
Usually fuse 52 in your front Sam “start enable” is the fuse. Starter relay is the small rectangle type, usually consigned with a mark “S” underneath the relay (marked on the plug socket itself)

Tried using good quality jumper cables. I have a 2002 CL600 V12... it was misfiring, in all cylinders, so I removed the coil packs to inspect the condition and the boots and sparks, after a cleanup and reinstall the car suddenly did not start the engine again, it turns all lights, I can open the key and move the shifter through the gears but it won't start the engine, it simply does not make any click or nothing, the power windows are not working also.
I have a 2010 C300. Steering locked on me the other day when I was removing my head lights as I had the front wheels turned to one side to access fender well. Had to jiggle the steering wheel to get to get it to unlock while key was on the ON position.
Today it won't start again. Bu this time steering is not locked. I can turn it with enough force. Car will unlock/lock. I can use the key fob to roll all the windows up or down but if I use the buttons inside I can't roll up /down the windows. Stereo will not turn on automatically but it will if I press the on button. Headlights won't turn on. Steering will come down automatically sometimes. No whirl sound coming for the column. Jumping the car didn't help. Jiggling the steering left and right didn't work this time. So I think this is another EIS issue. I assumed this only happened on 2008 2009 cars. Had the car for 6 years at 165k miles.

I have a 2004 sl500 and it started i moved it to work on the suspension issue. The back baytery was dead and wouldnt hold a charge so i replaced it and checked tge front is fine. Now the car wont start, everything lights up and i here a click but wont turnover. I have never had an issue with the starter which i woild think it would before going bad...is there anything it could be?
Try to start it at N.. or check if you get trigger at the starter when you try to start it
I have a CL500 2002 been sat in my drive 6 months. Put new battery in and all dashboard lights lit up. But want turn over and also the fan goes on like it’s trying to cool the engine. Any ideas. Or shall I go ahead with your 4 tries. Thanks.

Hi my w211 220cdi has this issue no crank no start sometimes especially after a drive..first start will be ok..the problem comes after a 20mins drive.. the key will on the ignition but a further turn wont crank and gets started after a few tries

Thank you for the video, I have a 2007 S550 i’m very mechanically knowledgeable. I stop by the store to pick up stuff came back turn the keys on lights goes on everything‘s on but the starter would not crank now the 2007 have a fuse box in the right hand side on the left-hand side have a small box with a 40 amp fuse and three fuses I believe those for the starter. My keys is good. I even have a spare keys. I tried when I turn the Keith’s decision four the starter would not turn over I have a brand new battery, i’ll trade my spare key as well. I have a 2010 s550 4-Matic that won't start and the battery is not even 6mos old. All electrical instrumentation works fine and the key clicker locks & unlocks doors with no issue. Only problem is when I try to crank it and get nothing but all lights work fine. I understand it could be the sensor inside the key or a blown fuse in the SAM or ISM panel box? Any suggestions?

1moegen check the starter, they have a very small starter compare to the size of the engine, they go bad all the time
Did you get this fixed? What was the issue? I am having the same issue with my 2010 E350. All lights come on including radio, I can roll down the windows but when I turn the ignition there is no sound at all.
Tonya M. He has different system than you, he has two batteries and yes he did get it resolved, it was his starter battery.
Always check your battery first, the starter needs cranking power the lights don’t. If battery is fine, check your starter, if both good, check with another key(you should have two). If nothing works take it to the shop.
Thank you. I have replaced the battery and was told it could be the EIS so I had it towed to a shop. But since the shop owner was able to get the car to start after wiggling the key in the ignition a couple of times I was told it was fine and charged for diagnostic test and sent on my way. I got the car home and now can not get it to start again. I unfortunately only have one key.

Every Mercedes vehicle should have two working keys, the key is not only turning the car on but it is also a part of your drive authorization, a good technician should be able to tell you if your EIS (Electronic Ignition System) is faulty, if he charged you diag and fail to tell you what the problem is you should ask him to repeat the process or refund the money regardless, order a new key from Mercedes, should be around $300 you need to have two keys and take it to a reputable Mercedes shop around you, check their reviews before you take your car there, just google Mercedes repair shop near me or something like that and read their reviews.
Your Video was GREAT!!!!. My problem is I had my 2003 E320 Brake Operating Unit replaces & both batteries replaces. 6months later, now I have to jump the battery all the time. Some said It's the SAM Mudule. is that right.
Did u figure what was up with your 2003 e330? Just curious because I did the same thing you did and am having similar problems
look at the alternator charge voltage while driving (use the "service menu")... it is controlled directly by the main fuel injection computer and uses various sensors across the entire car (temperature, battery sensor, battery control module)
How common are the Mercedes fuses to buy? Do auto parts stores such as Advanced Auto hv them on hand?
Also i hv a 2004 Ml350. Put in new starter, it turned over, lasted for a month that way, then wouldn't turn over again. I replaced it with another brand new starter and it wouldn't turn over. Lights on all the lights on the dash but just won't fire up won't even click.

Yes I have an 08 S 63 car starts and runs fine with the key however the push button will not start the car once the key has entered the ignition you can take the Key out and all the functions on the fob work fine however after a period of time it seems like the system in the car shuts down and the remote no longer works any help would be appreciated I’ve checked all the fuse panels but not the relays

I have 2012 c300 the lights in the dash would flash on and off .this was happening for some time then I had to jump the car a few times .put it on the scanner and a few things popped up the main code was for outside ambient temp sensor .replaced that and it was still doing the same thing .than was driving parked the vehicle can there was no power no start I replaced the battery and still nothing I replaced the battery again no there is power but won't turn over or start. Hi , i have a 2006 Mercedes B200, 3 days ago i opened the fuse cover to review if a fuse are open due to the wippers are not working... i'm testex all the fuses with a multimeter and i pulled out a couple to test if are good..... all of them are good, but know the car is not working.... the dashboard on, radio, windows powers, but the starter is not activating.... the key open the switch and I move the knob to neutral and nothing..... literal i didn't do noting to damage the car and is not working.... what I can do to find the problem... a technitian scann the car and it said somethink like ... the car is registering a manual transmision instead of an automatic transmision.... any help will be highli appreciated
