I hope who ever gets this truck keeps it original as I love old stuff un messed with
Great to see the patient between the old and young mechanics
LOVE IT THAT THE OLD MAN IS PASSING ON HIS KNOWLEDGE TO THE YOUNG ONE
VERY MUCH!!! THAT'S HOW I LEARNED SOMEONE SHOWED ME ALSO WHEN I WAS 10YR.S OLD IN 1967..
The knowledge and expweience the older guy has cant be replaced we are lucky to see it
Young dudes think they can solve everything with google.
USA number one
Good to see you have a young mechanic willing to learn and work AND has some personality!
The stylists back then made some cool looking trucks, and they actually used real metal!

Another John 11:43 mechanical miracle success - Iron City Garage !
Why is he tapping on the pushrod. Tap on the valve spring. You could brake the lifter
I personally hate short beds, to cut it down from a real long bed truck is sick in my opinion. Jeeze!
I love short beds! Had a 57 gmc short bed way back when, but I agree with you that to cut a long bed down would be sacrilege
You should of took the valve cover's off before forcing the engine over if you would of had the valve covers off you would of saw it was the valves and not the pistons that was stopping the engine from turning over.
Great video! Nice to teach younger folks how to do things ! I am 62 and a mopar guy been running 64/65 barracuda for a long time and I learned alot! Great stuff! Am a Chef have been teaching for a long time, patience is a good thing, doesn’t matter what profession you are in, being able to teach is a great talent! Speak so people will listen, listen so people will speak!
I have the same truck 1955 GMC half ton was told 347 Pontiac hydra matic I’m probably 120 miles from y’all in Ohio and…. Not for sale
GREAT VIDEO!!! YOU HAVE ALOT OF GMC THERE MY SON MAX 7 YR.S OLD SAYS THAT TRUCK ROCK'SSS HE LOVE IT ,, HE LIKES THE MEAN GRILL LIKE OUR 1958 DODGE CUSTOM ROYALE SWEEP WINGS,,..HE'S A GREAT YOUNG AUTO REPAIR GUY TEACHING US ABOUT THE LIFTERS ALSO THE OTHER GENTLEMAN NOT KNOWING NAMES ..WOW!! GREAT JOB GUY'S SEEING IT NICE AND SHINNY THE CROME AND SEEING IT START,, MY SON AND I LEARNED ALOT FROM BOTH OF YA!!! THANK'S ..
The old engine know how. Love the old mechanics better than techs. Mechanics know how to fix a part. Techs only know how to replace them.
Great job! Especially Clay! He’s an asset to your team!
You got that right!
Great job on teaching , staying calm makes it so much easier to learn from. Good knowledge is hard to come by.
Wow. Nice. I'm glad it ran.
Had a 56 GMC short bed, same color, fully optioned. Great body, door hinges were shot. Replace the original 287 with a tri-power 421 and Hydramatic trans from a 63 Catalina, all stock. Was stolen.
Thank you for saying saving them awesome vehicles
Y'all keep on saying LS but a 9.1 compression Pontiac 455 would be the way to go.
That motor in it would probably fly with a little love.
I like the way the older gentleman is using the vehicle as a teaching time for the younger guy to gain knowledge and to become better at his craft
Iron City puts out such great stuff thank you
Hey Oron. Good video. Keep up the great work. Thanks for sharing.🍁👍👍

Pull the heads fill the cylinders with aceiline light em up with a propane torch bump the starter until it will free up some times that will work. that clay is a beast love the old school mechanics
I hope no one chops this truck up and ruin it.
So mainly for the most part a carb rebuild is about what it really needs as far as keeping it short of moving around.

I love these trucks.. I wish the dash were like the ford f-100s but these are actually super reliable for a classic car.. looks like the Pontiac 347?
Use aero krol penetrating oil. The best I've seen. Ken Burrow Oklahoma.
Non adjustable rockers in early Pontiacs, torque spec only 18-22 ftlbs
My dad 1 I was born in 56
The AD3100 shirts are sold out. When is the new merchandise coming out?
You don't learn unless the older wanna teach
i like this teaching technique, you mostly see this in a family type setting.
Glad you liked it!
My dad owned an old 56 GMC Pickup that is a spitting image of this one. He sold it to a gentleman in Australia and was to paint and restore it. Now yall said you bought this through an auction in Nebraska, so I'm wondering if it got bought from the man in Australia. And auctioned off. I believe my dad sold his truck in 2010. Do you know the back storty on this truck? I would like to know more if you do
I know you will get it running .love it so much n can't wait.reminds me of friends ,cars, trucks, beer,n us girls watching guys work on there vehicles .
When you sell these vehicles where do you put them up for sale at? Looking for a old truck around this year. Something to tinker around with. Looking for something I can keep original and the Vitinha look to it.
there is a big NPK racer Jim Howe down south might want the mantle Howe Racing he is on you tube
Lesss goooo
Years ago i put Champion spark plugs in my 1946 Chevrolet and i still had a miss so i put my old spark plugs back in one at a time i still had a miss so i took one out at a time and put a new spark plug in in its place then it ran good so i put the rest of the new spark plugs in one at a time and started it up until it missed. I found the new plug that would not fire. I took the new plug back to the auto store and they did not believe me so they checked the number on the spark plug to make sure it was the spark plug they sold me. It was so they gave me a new plug!! After they put it on their spark plug tester!!
They had fan shrouds back then?
You should get a wireless mic that will Bluetooth to your camera. It's really hard to hear you sometimes, especially when you turn away from the camera.
Give clay a raise he is good hard worker
Can anyone tell me why the floor is wet in the shop, why does it look like it's raining on the shop floor? Thanks it's bothering me
Thats so crazy I just bought one of those trucks today out of a junk yard for crazy cheap. I have a question for anyone who knows anything about them is there any way to change that mustache looking front grill and bumper to the 56 chevy style?
Just found your channel. With a name like iron city garage I have to ask, : are ya a yinzer? Cause we don't see much vintage iron like that up here in the steel buckle of the rust belt
Born and raised!
My man! McKeesport here. Just came out of RUclips retirement, building a channel and a business and working full time while moving and setting up shop in a place with a garage FINALLY! Been a long time coming. Definitely gonna sub yinz
This thing is still for sale, $17,500.

Looks like a 1955!
Look at most recent video that’s a 55
Cadillac of trucks.
Bad head gasket?
That's minty get her inspected throw clear on and it's a daily cruiser leave it original
😃😃😃😍👍👍👍👏👏👏
Where is bill?
Bill is no longer with us
yeppers, if ya throse enuff parts and time and stuff at it...hell, anything can run...the 24,000 dollar question should be, can you convert it to an EV and make it go ?
That is happening in the hot rod world already believe it or not
want to sell it?
Carb needs a rebuild

I think that the rocker studs are screwed in on Pontiac engines rather than the Chevys due to the increased power of the engines.
there were not any 150s till 1975 that is a 1oo
Looks like a 57, not 56.
The dude in the red sweatshirt needs to quit smoking in the shop! Fire hazard!
Not just a guess. Not an educated guess. But an EXTREMELY educated guess... 🙄
