My first time watching. I had to see it run. My parents wanted to move from Philadelphia to the newly built suburban community of Levittown Pennsylvania in 1952...but there was no train service for Dad to get to his job at a bank. So his boss lent him $50 to buy a car... and it was a 50 Chevy. Sure looked like one. I only saw a picture because I wasn't born until 1954. I know it was green and white top, that body style, and Mom was preggers with me when she learned how to drive in it and took her driver's test.

This is your best video yet. I am so glad you got back to this car. As a viewer I hate to see when you give up.. I know it happens but sometimes taking time and coming back is what the situation needs. Your perseverance is why I enjoy your videos. Keep it up.

Thanks for the feedback. You are right about sometimes just taking a step back. That is what I did on the Ford tractor, and it worked out well.

Good old 216 stovebolt 6! Sounds like it still has a stuck valve or 3, but it may seal up after you run it for a while.. they've been known to do that.🤣 With the old splash lube bottom end, you definitely want to keep plenty of oil in it (straight 30w. or straight 40w. on a high mileage engine). That 7 or 8 lbs. of oil pressure is for the top end only. They generally have cast iron pistons, unless they were changed out for weighted aluminum slugs, which usually last a lot longer. If it continues to run, you'll probably want to change the oil a few times in the next 50 miles or so to get all the crud out of the bottom end.😉

That one had the iron pistons in it. Your're right, the valves got better and better as it ran.

@@whattherust Heh heh, cool! I had a 47 Chevy 1 ton that originally had a 216 in it, but eventually changed it out for a '79 250 - 6 out of a Camaro, mainly for better reliability, and a little more top end.😉👍

Wow I was so excited for the both of you! I love watching your videos and learning what to look for when wanting to fix an old car!! My dad was a mechanic and taught me a lot about cars. We had a few old cars one being a 1969 Chevelle and he traded it for a 1947 Ford street rod. Sadly he recently passed away. I hope one day I get the opportunity to fix up an old car to remember him by. Until then I will keep watching your videos and learn as much as I can from the both of you. Thanks so much and god bless you both.
