48 Packard doesn't have hood hinges, There is a release on each side of the dash. The hood lifts from one side or the other. Or you can release both and lift the whole hood off.

I would much rather restore that Packard then four Fords or Chevrlets of any age. That was when they used real true steel to build a car. And that Engine was the same engine used in Army Trucks, Tanks and even some Aircraft.

I don't know what they call it there but in the UK it's called the Suzuki 'Swift' Easy to work on, reliable and economical, get it cleaned up and pop to the shops every day for a month on one gallon of fuel. Edit* The timing belt should have a plastic cover over it.

If you don't have a direct use for it yourself, then tidy it up and sell it, giving you hopefully more to spend on vehicles that do interest you. Maybe it might be something that might appeal to someone for a swap? You might be well served in getting the exhaust back to something a bit less noisy.

I remember when these cars were new. My sister in law had a Geo Storm and they were the talk of the town at that time, late 80s, early 90s. Geo was a partnership between Chevrolet/GM, Isuzu, Toyota and Suzuki. They were sold through Chevrolet dealers. Their tag line was "Get to know Geo" They called it GM's "world car" and they sold really well until the early 2000s. Chevy then removed the "Geo" name from all the models and just started calling them "Chevrolet"....for example, this car went from "Geo Metro" to "Chevrolet Metro" ......and in fact, if you look at the badge on the hood, it has a little tiny Chevy bow tie right in the center. Overall their popularity declined and Chevy phased them out. But it's definitely an interesting piece of automotive history. Very cool acquisition Richard! I'd hang on to it. You might need it when gas prices go back up again, which unfortunately they are predicted to do. Speaking of Suzuki, the Geo version of the Samurai was the Tracker. And it had the same rollover issue as the Samurai did. Thanks for sharing, Richard and Christina! Congratulations!

I worked at GM and was teased about buying a foreign car (was made in Canada) like you said Szuki engine. Fun to drive but those 13 inch tires and size of the car scared me so I did not have it long! That's what we call a Suzuki Swift here in Europe, ours were mostly made in Hungary of all places (they made them in quite a few countries). You can still find those here in Austria and a good one goes for €1500-€2000 with a valid inspection sticker (unless it's a cabrio or the Gti which are collectors items now). Service it and use as an everyday car, the money you save on fuel could go towards the Chevs!

It isn't difficult in TN if the vehicle has not been tagged in 20+ years. It is also possible to get a title via a certificate of ownership if the vehicle is over 30 years old and sold for less than $3,000. That is a simple process.

Get a second job delivering pizza's, i've been looking for one of those but never ran acrossed one. You could drive around the back roads looking for all those 50's chevy's.

I daily drive a Geo car so i know all about them. Mine is the Toyota Corolla equivilent, the Geo Prizm, which has been the best car i have ever owned. I get 38 miles per gallon on the highway and can sometimes push 40 if i drive it like a baby. The Metros do have a cult following for just the reason that Richard stated. They can get over 50+ mpg on the stick models and with today's gas prices, EVERYONE is trying to buy them up. They have the Suzuki 3 cylinder motor which is mediocre at best but they are easy to work on and rebuild so technically if the engine ever blows up, you can have it rebuilt for $750.00 and be back on the road again. They came in 3 door and 5 door hatchbacks and a 4 door sedan. The holy grail, which you won, is the 3 door, with a stick shift and the XFI model which was tuned for extra fuel economy. Yours even has the optional air conditioning. Even with 260,000 + miles you could flip that car for $2,000 or more easily. Like i said, that's the exact model and configuation that everyone wants.

That's stupid for the amount of money that wasted to chop up and ruin to make that 69 camaro and race car he could have put it back to original car

out of all those vehicles and you pick the ugliest worst vehicle you can find...but it was prob the cheapest so i guess that why

You should have bought that 69 camaro and had a better project car instead of that ugly little blue
