Matpat's kid watching some random show (ex. Dora, Blue's Clues, Paw Patrol, Frozen, Encanto, every single other lovable Disney movie on the planet) Matpat: *notices something weird* "LORE!!!!" The rest of us: *watches the videos* "Yet another childhood show matpat has ruined for us." Can't wait for him to make a video on an innocent show like Max and Ruby or Caillou.
Timmy got fairies because his parents are borderline abusive. They lied to him saying they were abandoning him to get a home video of him crying. So he called Vicky and ended up with an abusive babysitter. So I think it goes deeper than him “just not wanting to do chores”
They were initially good, if oblivious and frequently stuck on weird trends, and they were shown to be tough but fair (by cartoon standards, anyway) in earlier episodes, usually in service of a message relating to respecting your parents. Then, perhaps like a TV-Y7 version of Peter and Lois Griffin, their quality as parents, or lack of it, became almost entirely dependent on what the writers thought would be funny at certain moments. And then Timmy's Dad became one of the most focused-on characters, for better or worse, usually worse.
I was thinking about that as well. Another point to consider is one time Timmy said: "no amount of therapy will make this moment okay." So, he's either been to therapy or just knows what it's for.
Something to note about Da Rules is that a lot of them are only added when a wish goes catastrophically wrong and the only solution is to wish for it to have never happened. So my theory is that Da Rules are effectively a way to teach the children to use the magic for good, positive reasons. Perhaps as a way to prevent the Darkness from being lured to them
Also a few things. Flappy bob DID have "fairy" god parents. The pixies. It just sort of makes sense that he didn't get actual fairies. Second, alot of the rules are broken via indirect means. Or extenuating situations. Like the super thing. Magic both can create super x but can't undo it unless x wants it to be undone or it's been weakened somehow. (Except in the episode when he wishes the world was a comic book) Also fairy babies aren't rare because fairies breed slowly. They were litterally outlawed because of Cosmo
“A lot of them are only added when a wish goes catastrophically wrong” Makes you wonder what happened the last time somebody wished for breakfast after 10:30am.
Theory 1: she had but she reveal it. (Lile she almost did when she got Cosmo and Wanda for her birthday) Theory 2: the love she feels for Timmy make up for her horrible personal situation. Or better pur: She is mentally quite strong, she is kind and sweet even when things are so dark for her. There's not enough Fairies for everyone, so as she is doing fine with what she is in the waiting list. (Kind of sad that her and the poor kid are in waiting list when Timmy and the rich kid are not...)
yeah like what if maybe only kids who tried commiting suicide got a fairy? And because of her love of timmy is enough to keep her clinging on life????? Anyone watched platinum end the anime? Where people who tried comitting suicide recieves an angel and becomes a god candidate
I'm actually surprised that MatPat did an entire episode about Da Rules and at no point did he mention that Timmy is actually like 50yrs old and actually wished for everyone to be perpetually the same age.
The plot hole you didn’t mention was that in the same episode where Cosmo says he was the last fairy born, they literally say that fairy’s couldn’t have anymore children due to how destructive Cosmo was as a baby
@@Piggyplush85 That was the crux of Fairly Odd Baby. They didn't want another kid like Cosmo. Timmy had vetoed the baby ban, which caused a slew of misshapes.
@@Piggyplush85 There was a ban on natural fairy births, but it was never put in da rules that you couldn’t wish for one, Jorgen actually checks the rules and confirms that while that should’ve been included at the time of the ban, it wasn’t, and so the wish was legal.
@@Piggyplush85 it's a gag in the movie it's self. "You can't do that it's against the rules" "show me" jorgon pulls out the rule book and a sticky note containing the rule falls out. And jorgan kicks himself because "oh no I forgot to add it"
Da Rules were actually created after one of the notes Butch Hartman was given after he pitched The Fairly OddParents to Fred Seibert and Larry Huber which says that he can't give Timmy unlimited magic. So as he pitched it again, he brought up the concept of "Da Rules" and it became a cornerstone of the show.
He should have realized that he can't give Timmy unlimited magic. If Timmy had unlimited magic, he would basically have the power of a god and then there would be nothing that could ever cause him trouble. Then why would anyone watch since there would be no conflict.
I remember that in one episode, Timmys fairy’s were revealed to his parents. Jorge was about to take them away when the dad suggested that Timmy keeps his fairy’s and that he and the mom gets their minds erased. Wanda said they can’t do that but Jorge said they can.
That episode was honestly such a vibe. Even Jorgan was like "... Fair point, actually." That one single day where you can just be open, knowing there won't be consequences about it.
Da Rules have loopholes. The child can't wish for violence, but fairies can use their magic freely to do whatever they want. Another possible loophole a child could wish for a weapon of some kind. The creation of the weapon doesn't hurt anyone, but the child could use the weapon to hurt someone.
Let’s not forget the council’s very existence in the first place. As much as it was brought up in the show, and in this theory, the only thing that would make sense is that Da Rules were a decision of the council. Jorgan was put in charge because he’s strict, not strong. Any fairy can look like him through magic. Even he does this, his iconic appearance is just him using magic to look intimidating. But therein lies another aspect to Jorgan. Fairy Boot Camp. He may not actually be as strong as the soldiers of old but he can, and must, make the rest. So decides the council. What no one expected was two fairies being given to an average kid that no one understands.
Anyone _can_ look like him with magic doesn't mean he didn't work to be strong. Any godkid can wish to be the faster person on earth, anyone can do it with magic. That doesn't mean anyone and everyone who is fast didn't earn it
You completely forgot about the episode that reveals the show's biggest secret. In season 8, episode 10, "Timmy's Secret Wish", it's revealed that timmy made a wish for everyone to stop aging, and cosmo granted it. It's then revealed that timmy wished for cosmo to forget and that's why cosmo is so dumb. And it's revealed that he made that wish 50 years ago.
@@Omori201X I love fnaf what can say oh and watch the new reboot of the show if it was REALLY cannon then everybody should've not progressed in age everything should've stayed the same as the original!
The fact that Matpat blatantly disregarded the real CHILD ABUSE Timmy faces on the daily that lead to him getting his fairies is kinda hilarious to me, "he didn't wanna do chores" bros parents told him on the daily that their lives would be better without him and repeatedly left him with a babysitter that tortured him 💀
Yeah. True! There’s even an supposed “lost” episode where Timmy wished for a better life. In the episode he was born as a girl and he was extremely smart and successful. Both his parents took advantage of his smarts and used his smarts to become rich Edit: After going through the show’s catalog I realize that this the worst episode of the show. Not a lost episode. My bad
@@alexandrafernandez2439 I think you're talking about "Its a Wishful Life" which isn't a lost episode, in that episode Timmy wished he was never born and saw that everyone was better off without him, Mr. & Mrs. Turner had a daughter who was extremely successful
@@krystalcasey Yep. That episode because in that episode Literally everyone hated him. And thoughout the show he faces Child Abuse from Vicky and neglect from his parents
I think the orphaned clown getting pixies actually makes sense. He was conditioned into endless joy and fun, which can be just as damaging as endless sadness, but because he was so seemingly happy Da Rules basically said he didn't need fairy god parents instead he needed pixies, he needed to be balanced out in the opposite way, but that had unforeseen consequences.
There’s been hints that Da Rule book is constantly updated with new rules. So from the beginning, Da Rule might not have been as restricted as the current edition. For example, in current time, it is against the rules to wish someone back to life, but in the episode Timmy meets King Arthur, who actually died fighting a dragon, Timmy wished him to be brought back to life with Cosmo and Wanda actually considering do it which they did, which implies fairies can bring people back to life, but a rule was later added to restrict that ability Also, there are ways to get around some rules. For example, Timmy tried to wish his embarrassing threat-mantic email (wrote by his parents) to come back, which was denied because it is against the rules of love. He was still able to get it back, but not directly by wishing himself into the internet to get it back himself. So it is possible to break some rules, you just need to be smart about it.
Not to mention your theory hold up water because in the christmas special when timmy wished everyday would be Christmas the ending showed Da Rules being updated saying no God child can wish for everyday to be Christmas
"He was still able to get it back, by wishing himself into the internet to get it back himself." That is NOT an example of BREAKING a rule. That's an example of using a wish/method that does NOT break any rules to do something.
Words cannot explain how happy I am that MatPat suddenly uploaded a video about the Fairly OddParents. It almost felt like a wish came true, one that I never knew I wanted.
Don't forget the ultimate loophole: in one episode timmy wishes anything he said becomes true, and it seems to work even if what he says would be against the rules to wish for. In fact, it works even after he loses his fairies (which is supposed to nullify any wishes).
That's an impressive feat! But that begs the question, can Timmy wish the fairies to be back? Or for the Darkness to seize to exist? It seems like the wishes aren't reversed when a child loses his fairies, or perhaps only the ones directly granted by them... This means that you'd be able to grant wishes yourself if you wish to become some magical creature yourself... As evident in the series.
@@Azoraqua in theory seeing as the darkness is a equal power to magic by the fairies I’d say no. Their magic is equal to the darkness so it is not powerful enough, just equal.
If you really wanna drive yourself a little crazier over the world of FOP, you should discuss the implications from that Timmy’s Secret Wish special where we learn he wished for the world to basically run on loop so he could keep his fairies forever & all of fairy world learns how long it’s really been on earth (50 years)
Actually, Cosmo and Jorgen being cousins would explain why Timmy can get away with writing stuff in his version of Da Rules and the episode just rolling with it. Because technically speaking, being related to the owner of the master copy, Cosmo, Wanda and obviously Timmy can treat them as more like hard coded suggestions if they're creative enough since their copy is a less powerful version of it. By the way, I remember an episode where Timmy traded places with Cosmo and Wanda for a bit. Which makes me wonder if there was a ever a child who wished for a human child or adult to become a fairy to expand the population if only a bit. Don't know if that was ever covered in the show.
Actually it not that the only way to become fairy. If we considered the live action movie where those who was exposed to the Abracadabraium and died can become a fairy and live action Jordan aka discount Arnold Schwarzenegger basically allowed that.
@@Jinxanator66 Was it added in because of Timmy or was it there before? Also, he only became a fairy temporarily while Cosmo and Wanda became human kids. If the rule existed before, it might allow a trading places scenario if the godparent wants to teach their child how hard it is to be one.
@@wariodude128 I remember from the Poof special when timmy and jorgen were reading the book timmy says 'no wishing yourself into a fairy' I always thought it was because of that episode
I personally have a theory that Cosmo is the most powerful Fairy in the entire Fairyverse, this is only really counterbalanced by his vast stupidity and innocence. and because hes so powerful hes able to break any of the rules on a whim or by accident. And the reason Timmy has 2 Fairys is because Cosmos isnt allowed to be alone.
"That’s always been my theory too. Especially since the anti-Cosmo is the leader of the anti-fairies, and not Jorgen. There's also the fact of the last fairy baby to be born, because of how destructive his magic was. This could mean that his magic was just too powerful. He's also a van strangle like Jorgen, so he's related to them in some way. They're the most powerful fairy family, so him being a powerful fairy makes sense. Also, the addition of Poof/Peri, who is very popular due to him being a fairy baby, as there hasn't been one born in a while after Cosmo. They kinda give him some chosen one stuff with Poof/Peri because even his magic was a bit unpredictable."
The craziest rule they broke is when Timmy wished he didn’t have to grow up so he can keep his fairies and on the series finally it’s revealed Timmy is over 50Years old! And it effected everyone as well the whole world had been paused for 50 years!
10:12 I thought Timmy was assigned his fairies because his parents were essentially neglecting him and left him with an evil hearted babysitter. The moment Cosmo and Wanda appeared was when he found out his parents would be late coming home from a movie.
i love just how every cartoon episode of film theory is just Matpat and theorist team watching at least +10000 episodes making unique theorys out of them and mat making at least one bad joke
1:06 “Don’t worry about it Timmy, my dreams where shattered years ago” “How many years ago?” “How old are you?” God that scene went under my child brain.
Matpat should make a follow up video on how to maximize the value of your wishes following the rules until you lose the fairies… it would be a good idea
That's such a great idea I'd definitely watch a theory on that but if you do take in account Timmy making the secret wish for everything to stop aging you could make the same wish he did and end up having fairy's for as long as you want xD
Dumb loophole that "Oh he doesn't know it's TIMMY'S Fairy. So it's okay." Doesn't really matter when in the later seasons they would rather do this same joke of him seeing the fairies but get told "nuh uh" and he just follows their word because he is stupid like every other episode.
@@guywhoateallthepizza1031 I mean, to be fair, you lose your fairies when you grow up, right? I mean, technically they go away when you don't need them anymore too, but the first point relates more to what I'm talking about. So, do you lose them if you tell anyone about them? Like other kids? Anyway, my point is, Timmy's Dad never really grew up, and pretty much has the mind of a child.
@kyles9937 You're stretching a non-existing argument just to try and make a flawed crux. But I will tell you that there are instances where you technically are able to tell other kids about your fairies, but mainly other God Children only. Case in point, reoccurring character Remy Buxaplenty.
@@guywhoateallthepizza1031 Ok, well, to be fair, I never actually watched Fairly OddParents, just know some stuff about it, and besides, like any other show, there's gonna be plotholes. I'm just trying to fill one of them.
one of the biggest questions I always think of when I think of Fairly Odd Parents is "What is up with Cupid?" Every time I watched the show and he showed up I was just like, what are you? He has been proven to be a lot of different things throughout the show, but at the same time he limits himself a ton too! He is a holiday character, due to being the representative of Valentines Day. He is the Greek god of Love, Ya know, CUPID! But he is also apparently a Fairy... But he also doesn't have the "Wands and Wings, (and) Floating Crown-y things" that all other fairies have (except Jorgan for whatever reason), he has a pair of feathery wings, no hat, and a bow with arrows. He also has control over one of those rules that Fairy's aren't allowed to mess with, love. Making him one of the strongest fairies there, and yet he has to listen to Jorgan. So, what is his deal? Is he just forcing himself to be limited because he lives in Fairy World? Does he get annoyed with the other gods on Olympus and relax in a world where he is more powerful than everyone around him? I just don't know.
cupid isnt connected to the greek gods in FoP canon because he was created far before the greek gods were considered for the series. they just didnt retcon it (and if the series ended where it was originally supposed to, none of the other greek gods would even be in the show). but remember that the fairies can modify any aspect of their appearance as needed. its the reason why jorgen doesnt show his wings to not appear as a sissy, but uses a jetpack instead because "its cool". but he chooses to display his crown as a show of his fairy pride. so its not doubtful that cupid has his wings like an angel and doesnt show his crown as a sign of his own vanity. holiday fairies and specialized fairies are definitely ranked higher than normal fairies and some rules are in place to specifically prevent you from overstepping your wishes into their job. like how all dental related wishes are approved by the tooth fairy, and all sleep related wishes are handled by sandman. cupids job is to spread love, but he doesnt force people to fall in love. he only shoots arrows at those if the feelings are reciprocated by both parties, which doesnt violate da rules at all.
@@MasterOfTruck Ok, fair. But he is still a very weird one. And he is known to take bribes when it comes to having people fall in love which would be considered breaking the rules. And there was at least a consideration about having connections to the Greek gods due to the reference of the actual Cupid in that mythology getting hit by his own arrow and the FOP Cupid having the same thing happen in the first episode he was shown in.
I hate to be THAT guy, but Cupid isn't Greek, they're Roman. The Greek equivalent of Cupid is Eros. Cupid is based on Eros. (because Romans stole everything from the Greeks).
@@rosaeruber225 I don’t mind anyone being “that guy” when it comes to corrections on Greek vs Roman mythology. I’ve never been that great at telling which is which from those two.
Interesting fact about the wishology movie since you mention it. Originally wishology was the second time the show intended for a proper series finale (the first being channel chasers) and the line at the end of part 3 when Jorgen casually said that he was going to erase everyone’s memories and everything would go back to normal was added in last minute when Nick renewed the show for season 7 forcing Butch Hartman for the second time to continue the show when he didn’t want to. Personally I wish that it did end with wishology it was an action packed 3 hour event that wrapped up all the storylines and brought them all together instead of the show being cancelled without a proper series finale only to be milked for a shitty reboot that paramount regrets making
Well, you know popular cartoons, they get milked dry until it's no longer profitable, so they cancel it until people get nostalgic for it, so they milk it all over again.
@@jmurray1110 that’s what I was referring to when I said shitty reboot Paramount regrets making. They took it off paramount plus and removed it from Nickelodeons website, it’s clear they realized it was a mistake
Bruh's parentsremind him he's a dissapointment on a daily basis, a babysitter that literally enjoys murdering children, a corrupt teacher constantly failing him, ruining his chance ot learning, and a society that outs him as a nobody.
The problem is, due to being a Clown, Flappy Bob is always happy, forever happy, unable to not be happy, he is miserable, but to Da Rules, since he is always expressing happiness, he isnt miserable according to Da Rules.
I just want to take a moment to say thank you for adding proper subtitles! It means a lot to those of us who rely on subtitles to fully understand and enjoy the video. It's appreciated. Thank you.
Vicky was very abusive towards Timmy. I think saying that Timmy was on a lower scale because he didn’t want to do chores. Vickey’s violent and manipulative nature is actually scary.
@@woobgamer5210 The fact that Matpat blatantly disregarded the real CHILD ABUSE Timmy faces on the daily that lead to him getting his fairies is kinda hilarious to me, "he didn't wanna do chores" bros parents told him on the daily that their lives would be better without him and repeatedly left him with a babysitter that tortured him 💀
Technically it was his parents fault as they pretended to leave him forever and they just recorded it for memories which then caused Timmy to call Vicky himself.
The episode of Timmy's secret wish shows that you can break the rules and bypass it. Fairly odd parents was also the second most popular show on Nick it was Jimmy nuetron that was underrated
Remember how there’s certain characters that are in charge of specific wishes rather that Da rules (and by extension Jorgon) being in charge like how sandman is sleep, tooth fairy is anything dental, etc? I think in that case Father Time accidentally approved it (or let it go at first because Timmy’s intentions were pure but revoked it because of the council’s pressuring knowing they wouldn’t understand). Timmy wishing Cosmo forget he granted it just covered his tracks.
The ‘we can never interfere with true love’ rule always stuck out to me, mostly because I remember most of the episodes where it was used. The Timmy/Trixie shipper in me noticed that Jorgen broke the rule at the end of Wishology by wiping there memories, so yeah I was pretty mad at that!
@@thesdfrommw9311 Trixie should of still had those feelings after the memory wipe. Sucks when characters reset and reconfigured for the sake of the plot of the episode.
I can't say for any episodes, but I think when they say interfere with true love. It means they can't interfere if there is a true love between person. (For example they can't separate them) Not that they can't interfere with love.
Ok. I have to say this. Cosmo _is_ supposed to be a bit dim-witted, so it’s possible that Cosmo just hadn’t heard of a fairy being born since him so he thought the last one to be born was him and Wanda forgot to correct him.
Fun fact: on one of the episode the main caracter reveal that he made the wish that nobody age so he can kept his fairys forever, and that he made this wish... 50 years ago, so that explain why nobody in cartoons age...
Jorgen's elite military fairy status makes sense considering there's an episode where they all fight in a big cage and Jorgen is beating fairies left and right.
At no point did you mention the episode where Timmy's parents see Cosmo and Wanda, but they just decide to not tell Jorgan and he's left completely oblivious until the end of the episode
There is also an episode where Timmy gets a cupcake, then eaten, allows for rule defying wishes. And he got it because he spent 5 years (I think) with his fairy godparents without revealing that fairies exist.
Technically with Aladin, the rules were no wishing for murder, no wishing for people to fall in love and no wishing for ressurecting people from the dead
The reason Timmy got Fairy God Parents had nothing to do with not wanting to do chores. It was because he was under the care of the worst babysitter of all time.
I think he might've been looking at the original pilot short, which was a lot more tame than the later episode showing vicky making his life miserable for a while beforehand.
@@Ariaelyne Even in that short, Vicky slammed him with so many chores, ordered a pizza that she ate all by herself and offered a slice that no child would ever eat. She worked him hard and didn't feed him.
I used to think it was strange he had fairies until I remembered that he was a disappointment to his parents at birth, somehow dropped the quality of the lives of the people around him and has shown them living happier lives without him, was bullied by his babysitter (she bullies a lot of people though) Basically it was because no one really cared about him
Remember that Jorgen is also a tool; He gets duped and enforces Da Rules when it would cause a bigger problem instead of fixing the mess any other way. In the first movie, when a stray wish causes Monkeys to become the dominant species of the planet, instead of letting someone undo the wish, he forces every fairy to godparent a monkey child. And when Cosmo and Wanda get captured by Crocker, he pulls a Kyoshi and does jack-doodoo to stop the crisis on Earth.
No, one thing I have to point out is that a lot of people forget just how much Timmy's life sucks, his parents don't care about him, he gets bullied at school, Toodie is obsessed with him, and his babysitter Vicky is outright cruel to him. There is an episode where Timmy asks for a magic free day and that episode makes it clear that without continuous use of magic, Timmy has it pretty bad.
@@lillypad5317 He has a desire to use magic to solve his problems, even Wanda sometimes coaxing him into doing so, and she's the voice of reason in the group. Couple that with the neglectful parents and the evil babysitter, and Timmy consistently uses magic, not just because he can, but because he normally has to think on his feet.
FINALLY!!! A refreshing episode! As a child of war (second Chechen war, and the war on Iraq) I could not care less about horror movies Thanks Matty, keep up the good work
For as good as theory videos are, even without having watched the source material, its always a special feeling when its something you have actually watched in the past. This is one show i did watch as a kid, i remember that.
The very fact that the first episode of Fairly Oddparents has Timmy turned into an adult, and then finding a loophole that says he can use wishes if he is a "kid at heart" explains PERFECTLY why my childhood was spent arguing even the tiniest of details about what someone says in order to try to get things to go my way. I mean, if he got magical wishes, why can't I argue my way into some extra dessert? hahahahaha. I really enjoyed this show growing up. I was born in '95, so just the right age for when it was being new in the early 00's, until around '08. That was when I started to do more outside as a teenager.
on your note about not having another fairy baby being born Jorgan himself actually did intend to make a rule where fairies could not have babies. he unfortunately didnt write in the actual Da Rules and timmy took advantage of this loophole allowing cosmo and wanda to have poof.
I had just gotten into this show this week, and the fact that this theory came out around that time made me lose it! 😂 Anyways, it’s pretty ingenious how the Fairly OddParents manages to dance around “Da Rules” just to make sure Timmy gets what he wants, yet also ends up learning from making those wishes. And I didn’t expect to love his fairy godparents! They sort of have that “Roger and Jessica Rabbit” vibe, where it’s clear as day their differences don’t make them any less happier to be together. Plus, their contrasting personalities add balance to how they care for Timmy: Wanda gives him the wisdom and knowledge he needs to grow, and Cosmo gives him more of the optimism and hilarity to find light in the darkest situations.
What I meant was it was first time actually getting into the show. I’ve heard about it before, and I’m sure I’ve seen bits and pieces of it. But, I never really watched the episodes fully until I learned more about it from RUclips. And now I ask myself: Man, where was I to miss such a classic?! Definitely one of the most fun and imaginative concepts for a show I’ve ever seen!
Another rule that was broken when they give Timmy’s mom money, there was this one episode where it said in the rule book: They can’t give wishes to adults.
You got why Timmy had his fairies wrong. Timmy’s parents are shown to be VERY neglectful and abusive. As a toddler they made him think he was abandoned to get a video of him crying, then Timmy called Vicky and from then on was abused every single day as his parents went out and had fun while neglecting him. Timmy is also told by his parents that they were better off without him, CONSTANTLY. Add that to Timmy getting bullied by Francis everyday, looked down on by the popular kids, and having the mean teacher mr. Crocker and that’s a recipe for misery. Cosmo and Wanda changed Timmy’s life.
Well not only does Timmy get abused and tortured by his babysitter, get bullied at school, has a teacher that one always gives him Fs is cruel to him, he has neglectful parents so it’s not only that he doesn’t wanna do his chores 10:12
One thing you didn't mention was the reason given for Cosmo being the last fairy baby born...unstable baby magic...Jorgen just never made the rule official
Wow, I missed so much lore in all those reruns of this show. I pretty much only remember "Shiny Teeth," Timmy being a girl and becoming real monsters for Halloween.
It super cool to watch these types of lores because it goes more in-depth on things we probably missed watching it. I wish Matpat could do music videos theories like skzverse/skz Lore . It would be cool to see what mat comes up with.
I actually think he should do a theory about how Danny phantoms "ghosts" are not actually the spirits of dead people. It seems like they're more like demons or entities, because some of them don't have a story from where they're alive and the ones that do seem to only have become the creatures that they are now due to some type of trauma.
@@brokenfoxproductions yeah! That would make a perfect theory. He could also go in-depth into the nature of the ghost zone and the ghost portals, as well as certain ghosts like clockwork or Dan Phantom
@@brokenfoxproductions The lore is that they were at the beginning of the show but someone thought it was too dark so they changed it so the ghost zone is just another dimension, if he could make a theory putting them together and fixing that huge series of plot holes due to the retcon, that would be awesome.
I think in Danny Phantom there's actually 3 varieties of ghosts: 1. Spirits of the dead (Ember, Box Ghost, Sydney, the Dairy King) 2. Manifestations of nature (Nocturne, Undergrowth) 3. Native entities born to that world (the ectopusses). We know at least some of the ghosts are spirits of the dead given their back stories.
I just gotta say I really appreciate the Assyrian Lamassu that pops up in the background at 1:51 with genie 💕 Give whoever picked that Middle Eastern background with Genie from Aladdin!!! Absolutely genius! Also the nostalgia in this episode regardless of Mat’s theory is still such a nice sight to see- for once my childhood isn’t ruined by one of his videos 🥰
Ngl what makes this even more confusing is that Chloe got fairy god parents for no reason at all yet Vicky’s sister who is twice as miserable as Timmy doesn’t get god parents. Ya that makes sense.
I saw a reaction to this that had an interesting counterpoint. The reason why no more babies are born is because Jorgon made it an unofficial rule after Cosmo and an official one after his kid is born
I did end up buying an Air-Up starter kit and a few extra packs. Came back to give my opinion. Due to the air-delivery system, it feels like there's a hole in the straw. Otherwise it turned my works drinking fountain (normally a mid-tier tap water) into something a bit higher end. Obviously it pretty much tastes like slightly flavored water, but better than regular water. And wasnt horribly expensive. That said the refills are going to be where they get you. If you want to get better about drinking water it's not a bad idea. I've only tried the Orange Vanilla swirl so far. Does taste (smell?) like fresh oranges.
This video was interesting. Something else that was an effect of the fairy shortage is Timmy having to share his fairies in the last season of the show.
Thank youm I've been saying this to my family for years. They literally break their own rules like every other episode. They only follow them when it furtherz the plot
Or when they made Chester's dad win all those baseball games, or when they made Timmy's mom's garden win the competition, or when Timmy wished Trixie would fall in love with him yet somehow he couldn't UNwish it. So apparently you can break to rules to make a wish just not to undo one💀
Thank you for reminding me of the pixies. My mom saw that episode and was like “are they meant to be Jewish?” I, a child, was like nah those are pixies. But looking back now, knowing more about Butch Hartman, this doesn’t seem out of place.
I think the council is more behind the rules than Jorgan as seen in the special where Timmy’s secret wish is exposed and even Jorgan is affected by the mega reversal…the council are the ones to make the final decisions throughout the episode and at the end Jorgan is a strong and strict fairy and is actually against the Pixies…he certainly doesn’t approve of them impersonating him and even encourages Timmy to make one last irresponsible wish The last couple seasons with the dog and Chloe or whatever her name was were just a final attempt to stretch the series but they really just led to it being ended on a negative note like the real life films throwing everything out the window

Timmy got fairies because his parents are borderline abusive. They lied to him saying they were abandoning him to get a home video of him crying. So he called Vicky and ended up with an abusive babysitter. So I think it goes deeper than him “just not wanting to do chores”
I actually forgot about that, what an excellent point since they hammer home the fact that fairies are assigned to kids that are miserable.
And then Timmy's Dad became one of the most focused-on characters, for better or worse, usually worse.
i second this
Don't forget that Timmy get constantly bully in school everyday, he life is a miseble wreck before he met his fairy odd parents.
(Except in the episode when he wishes the world was a comic book)
Also fairy babies aren't rare because fairies breed slowly. They were litterally outlawed because of Cosmo
Or just don’t grant infinite wishes at all.
@Rick Owens No it isn’t.

Another question, why Vicky's little sister didn't get a fairy? Even Timmy feels bad for her having to deal with Vicky more than him.
Theory 1: she had but she reveal it. (Lile she almost did when she got Cosmo and Wanda for her birthday)
Theory 2: the love she feels for Timmy make up for her horrible personal situation. Or better pur: She is mentally quite strong, she is kind and sweet even when things are so dark for her. There's not enough Fairies for everyone, so as she is doing fine with what she is in the waiting list.

There’s been hints that Da Rule book is constantly updated with new rules. So from the beginning, Da Rule might not have been as restricted as the current edition. For example, in current time, it is against the rules to wish someone back to life, but in the episode Timmy meets King Arthur, who actually died fighting a dragon, Timmy wished him to be brought back to life with Cosmo and Wanda actually considering do it which they did, which implies fairies can bring people back to life, but a rule was later added to restrict that ability
Also, there are ways to get around some rules.

Matpat is just a half baked theorist
"He was still able to get it back, by wishing himself into the internet to get it back himself."

And the reason Timmy has 2 Fairys is because Cosmos isnt allowed to be alone.
like Luigi ...?
"That’s always been my theory too. Especially since the anti-Cosmo is the leader of the anti-fairies, and not Jorgen. There's also the fact of the last fairy baby to be born, because of how destructive his magic was. This could mean that his magic was just too powerful. He's also a van strangle like Jorgen, so he's related to them in some way. They're the most powerful fairy family, so him being a powerful fairy makes sense. Also, the addition of Poof/Peri, who is very popular due to him being a fairy baby, as there hasn't been one born in a while after Cosmo. They kinda give him some chosen one stuff with Poof/Peri because even his magic was a bit unpredictable."

one of the biggest questions I always think of when I think of Fairly Odd Parents is "What is up with Cupid?"
Every time I watched the show and he showed up I was just like, what are you?

Ok, fair.
But he is still a very weird one. And he is known to take bribes when it comes to having people fall in love which would be considered breaking the rules.

@CEO of Eternal Damnation I think they do ultimately love him, but they are awfully neglectful.
I used to think it was strange he had fairies until I remembered that he was a disappointment to his parents at birth, somehow dropped the quality of the lives of the people around him and has shown them living happier lives without him, was bullied by his babysitter (she bullies a lot of people though)
Basically it was because no one really cared about him
Remember that Jorgen is also a tool; He gets duped and enforces Da Rules when it would cause a bigger problem instead of fixing the mess any other way.
Timmy doesn't need to use magic continuously, he just chooses to because it's like a cheat code.
You spelled Toodie's name wrong
@@bronykingamethystrain5676 Thank you for telling me.
@@randomnessltd What would you consider as him having a "need" to use magic continuously?
@@lillypad5317 He has a desire to use magic to solve his problems, even Wanda sometimes coaxing him into doing so, and she's the voice of reason in the group. Couple that with the neglectful parents and the evil babysitter, and Timmy consistently uses magic, not just because he can, but because he normally has to think on his feet.
FINALLY!!! A refreshing episode! As a child of war (second Chechen war, and the war on Iraq) I could not care less about horror movies
Thanks Matty, keep up the good work
For as good as theory videos are, even without having watched the source material, its always a special feeling when its something you have actually watched in the past.
This is one show i did watch as a kid, i remember that.
Small corrections: Timmy got fairies because he is often neglected and abused by Vicky
1:15 “How old are you?”☠️☠️☠️
Omg how did I not pick up on this 😂😂😂😂
The very fact that the first episode of Fairly Oddparents has Timmy turned into an adult, and then finding a loophole that says he can use wishes if he is a "kid at heart" explains PERFECTLY why my childhood was spent arguing even the tiniest of details about what someone says in order to try to get things to go my way. I mean, if he got magical wishes, why can't I argue my way into some extra dessert? hahahahaha. I really enjoyed this show growing up. I was born in '95, so just the right age for when it was being new in the early 00's, until around '08. That was when I started to do more outside as a teenager.
8:05 did you really have to use that picture.
It's looks worse with subtitles on
@@Professional_sexhaver It reminds me of that picture he took with his kid where he made it look like he was the one who just gave birth
it looks like a large peepee
That sussy picture
😂😂😂
on your note about not having another fairy baby being born Jorgan himself actually did intend to make a rule where fairies could not have babies. he unfortunately didnt write in the actual Da Rules and timmy took advantage of this loophole allowing cosmo and wanda to have poof.
Hold up 7:16 Timmy's God Parets inadirectly caused World War 1!?! I ain't watched this show in a hot minute but WTF!?!?
So did like a kid wish that bitler to fail art school
I had just gotten into this show this week, and the fact that this theory came out around that time made me lose it! 😂 Anyways, it’s pretty ingenious how the Fairly OddParents manages to dance around “Da Rules” just to make sure Timmy gets what he wants, yet also ends up learning from making those wishes.
And I didn’t expect to love his fairy godparents! They sort of have that “Roger and Jessica Rabbit” vibe, where it’s clear as day their differences don’t make them any less happier to be together. Plus, their contrasting personalities add balance to how they care for Timmy: Wanda gives him the wisdom and knowledge he needs to grow, and Cosmo gives him more of the optimism and hilarity to find light in the darkest situations.
you hadn't watched it before??! wtf
This is one of my favorite child hood shows. Being 22, now, I still love it 😂😂 I'd love to see you do more Disney/Nickelodeon videos!
Trying to make sense of Fairly Odd Parents is like trying to make sense of how dogs would wear clothes.
1:14 THAT WAS ON TELEVISION
10:15 maybe people can't be granted fairies if they already have another kind of magical creature as a guardian.
1:10 Bruuh💀💀💀
I love when matpat theorizes about shows that I loved to watch : ))
I'm so happy to be a part of this community please keep making the great work
Well not only does Timmy get abused and tortured by his babysitter, get bullied at school, has a teacher that one always gives him Fs is cruel to him, he has neglectful parents so it’s not only that he doesn’t wanna do his chores 10:12
I mean, I think he was assigned Cosmo and Wanda not as much because he didn't want to do chores, but because his parents are straight-up neglectful.
Now that Mat’s done a theory on the fairly odd parents, he should do a theory on Danny Phantom
I think in Danny Phantom there's actually 3 varieties of ghosts:
1. Spirits of the dead (Ember, Box Ghost, Sydney, the Dairy King)
2. Manifestations of nature (Nocturne, Undergrowth)
3. Native entities born to that world (the ectopusses).
We know at least some of the ghosts are spirits of the dead given their back stories.
Personally, I wanna see him do a theory on LazyTown...
Fairly Odd parents is one of my favorite childhood shows and I'm so glad there's finally a theory from film theory of it!
I just gotta say I really appreciate the Assyrian Lamassu that pops up in the background at 1:51 with genie 💕
Give whoever picked that Middle Eastern background with Genie from Aladdin!!!
1:54 and "i can't bring people back from the dead it arent a pretty picture"
The overwhelming amount of musical cues and sound effects in the intro is incredibly accurate
I can’t believe he did a whole video on Breaking Da Rules without mentioning the early 2000s video game of the same name.
"Oops! Sorry dad. "
"Don't worry about it Timmy! My dreams were shattered years ago. "
"How many years ago? "
"How old are you?"
💀💀💀
Sooner or later matpat is going to ruin everyone childhood cartoon memories from his theories 😂
K?
I saw a reaction to this that had an interesting counterpoint. The reason why no more babies are born is because Jorgon made it an unofficial rule after Cosmo and an official one after his kid is born
I didn't realise the lore for fairly odd parents went so deep.
Now I wanna watch it all
I did end up buying an Air-Up starter kit and a few extra packs.
This theory feels so legit. As an oldie FOP fan, I love it.
Agreed
Thank youm I've been saying this to my family for years. They literally break their own rules like every other episode. They only follow them when it furtherz the plot
Yeah perfect example is when they help Timmy cheat in the film making competition
Or when they made Chester's dad win all those baseball games, or when they made Timmy's mom's garden win the competition, or when Timmy wished Trixie would fall in love with him yet somehow he couldn't UNwish it. So apparently you can break to rules to make a wish just not to undo one💀
@@JaketheMovieGeek I think the show should have ended because the writers are having a hard time remembering all Da Rules.
Thank you for reminding me of the pixies. My mom saw that episode and was like “are they meant to be Jewish?” I, a child, was like nah those are pixies.
But looking back now, knowing more about Butch Hartman, this doesn’t seem out of place.
Why are both the villains German then
I think the council is more behind the rules than Jorgan as seen in the special where Timmy’s secret wish is exposed and even Jorgan is affected by the mega reversal…the council are the ones to make the final decisions throughout the episode and at the end
Jorgan is a strong and strict fairy and is actually against the Pixies…he certainly doesn’t approve of them impersonating him and even encourages Timmy to make one last irresponsible wish
The last couple seasons with the dog and Chloe or whatever her name was were just a final attempt to stretch the series but they really just led to it being ended on a negative note like the real life films throwing everything out the window
God what a throwback, I just love seeing a theory on a show I watched as a kid.
This show was so funny! “Don’t worry Timmy my dreams where shattered years ago😂” I felt that
Then timmy "how many years ago"
"How old are you" was too funny
