Great video as always but surprising you missed some of the cool quirks about the car. The LED light sequences when you lock/ unlock the car, how the whole mirror housing moves when you adjust the mirror (instead of just the glass), and how the polestar logo is projected on the glass roof from above the front seats. I’ve had mine for almost 3 months and it’s been an amazing car. Like you said, the best part is nobody knows what it is. Lol
I don't pay attention to fancy stuff like that. As long as they're not starting their prices at a ludicrous $70-80k, I might consider this instead of the overpriced Teslas or Rivians.
Good video. I’m glad you brought up the quality of this vehicle compared to Tesla. Prior Tesla owner, so many problems. Vehicle looks good. Definitely on my radar.
Thanks for sharing that!
What is your radars RANGE ? 😅
Why did you get rid of your Tesla and what car do you have now?
Lolololol, super troll
Read about the constant network connection problems and app problems with this car first. Also, the Polestar 3 coming soon will have a more advanced Android Auto OS that this one will not get.
Loving all of Polestar's products so far. They've really outdone themselves.
I totally agree with you Brian!
@@RaitisRides Good.
@@brianlee9233 good.
Enjoyed the review even though I have been driving the Sport version of this car for six months now. The one thing that you cannot experience with a review is the sheer power this car has on tap. The acceleration is simply not short of epic, there are not many cars on the road that can keep up.
The best vehicle reviewer on this app, you go into depth and relay information as if the audience knows nothing about the vehicle. Bloody brilliant you are, and you’ve earned my sub.
I have seen a few of these on the road and I think someone in my neighborhood just bought one. It’s definitely a unique looking car. No one will mistake it for something else
You are so very right about that Alex!
I had testdrive on Polestar last weekend. I have to say that the car surprised me very positive way. It has got kind of premium car feeling. It was quiet and very good to drive. Driver's car in one word to say. If I had to choose between Tesla and Polestar I would definitely take Polestar.
You hope it would have a premium car feeling for 50k😂 I think I’m getting one been shopping for electric car and this is definitely best value for you money

I just took delivery of a Thunder with the Performance Package. This car is amazing and I'm very happy with my purchase.
How long did you have to wait? I am looking at either the plus/pilot with the leather seats or the plus/pilot/performance.
@@stgeorgee I was lucky. My car wasn't due to arrive until June. I placed my order on the 1st of February. My Polestar agent was able to find the exact specs with all the options that I wanted (including the tow hitch) sitting at the port in LA. They were able to get it through customs and deliver it to me on February 19th.
Congratulations on your new car. I absolutely love the Polestar 2. How are you liking the color thunder? I have been on the side between thunder and midnight
@@robc7563 I absolutely love Thunder. I wanted Midnight but it doesn't look as good in person. To me Thunder really shows off the body lines. I get so many compliments about it when I'm driving around. Plus I have all of my windows tinted and it looks amazing. Have you had a chance to see them in person?
@@antoniosamuel819 Thank you. You are helping me make my decision. I appreciate it
I like how sleek and attractive this car is. I got a feeling the polestar brand will grow and make a statement in the ev crowd
I think you nailed it Matt!
I have to admit, I've always like the look of Polestar and I cannot explain it, it just looks more cohesive than Tesla! 👍👍
It’s a shame the car he was given wasn’t outfitted with the 20” wheels. It makes the car look so much better!
Love these. They’re currently building a showroom in my city. Huge Volvo fan, and this is far better than anything Tesla makes. If the new ID Buzz wasn’t getting my money, this would.
ID Buzz is very cool. Good to see something that resembles the iconic VW Bus come back.
I agree, tesla is pretty much junk
LOL. Ok shill.
This is the best looking EV i’ve seen! if i was in the market for a EV i would definitely be buying this.
The suspense of seeing what non twinkie items joe will use to measure out storage is incredible
A few things about this.
It's a Swedish brand. Geely is a parent company that finances Polestar but Polestar is a racing company that dates back to the 1990s where they tuned Volvos to race or be sportier street cars. It's a Swedish brand than means something like "north star." The Polestar 2 uses the Volvo Concept 40.2 body designed by Volvo's design team of Ingenlath and Missoni, both top designers at Volvo that have moved over now to Polestar where Ingenlath is CEO and Missoni is head of design. Geely provides money and use some of Volvo's technology in the shared Swedish/Chinese brand Lynk and Co. Lynk and Co. serves to have Geely get at Volvo technology so Volvo and Polestar are more autonomous and there's minimal Geely involvement in their designs/engineering. This is a much better deal than when Volvo was under Ford and used Ford components and platforms or the EUCD platform with Jaguar so Volvo was much more compromised. Polestar is a spin-off company of Volvo changing purpose form its sports tuner to making their own EVs. They've used Volvo designs for the Polestar 1 and 2 but will make their own designs for the 3 and beyond. However, if you look at Volvo's future Concept cars and Polestars, they're design language is quite similar.
I understand people not wanting to support a company that has a Chinese backer. But I see them as a company that handles a Euro company the right way and separate a company from a horrible regime (even if the regime is involved in companies).
So, that's what Polestar is. As for the 2, it wasn't designed with the Tesla 3 in mind. It was designed to be a Euro-feel car with a Scandinavian design sense. It's a "cooler" (temperature) design than Volvo but still has that sort of sober, functional look of Scandinavian design. It might not excite everyone. The Polestar 2 is the entry level car to Polestar. The flagship, the Polestar 5 coming in 2025 will be at least $90,000 so this is a premium, expensive brand. I read some think the car is expensive but this is an expensive brand. A bit more than Volvos are.
Fair enough but this is Made in China, correct? That is a issue for many.
@@theequalizer2727 Yes. If it is, then you can't buy this particular Polestar until they expand production to Ghent, Belgium. The Polestar 3 for the North American market will be made in the USA.
Just about every car sold in the world has some parts made in China even if they are assembled somewhere else.
@@theequalizer2727 I have a 2018 Cadillac CT6 2.0E plug-in that was assembled there and also had a 2016 Buick Envision also assembled in China. Both are quality vehicles and a very fair price back then.
I think that the best thing I like about these dual-motor EVs is the amazing torque you get with that acceleration! I actually like the look of this EV much more so than the standard Volvo sedan. Very nice, Joe!
I work in Scottsdale, Arizona and see them quite often - the 2 has very good proportions in person that you can't see in camera, sits low and wiide, looks a little aggressive and sonewhat sporty for sure 👍
Not really a Volvo fan, but I really like this Polestar because it looks more like a regular car. I would pick this over a Tesla, great review Joe!
A bit less range than the Tesla E & Y, sure. But with the combination of solid Volvo build quality, killer looks, and adjustable Öhlins dampers, it’s easily the best sports sedan on the market for the price in my opinion.
I still choose a Tesla over this any day
If I didn’t live up north where the winter kills batteries I’d get one of these in a heartbeat. Amazing car.
I put down a deposit on a fully loaded one just a few hours ago after an amazing test drive earlier today.
Edit: drove a 2022 model y performance and switched to Tesla Deposit LOL
Much much better choice … even though the PS may have more buttons .. it can’t outbeat Teslas: charging network, UI, autopilot, range, acceleration, sound System… you did good… 2021 Performance here
Between Polestar and the Fisker Ocean, tough choice. Polestar has a nice, clean look to it. Very beautiful design.
Like Polestar. They done really good work with design, even better, than Tesla
I agree with you!
I work at a car wash and some guy brought one in, it looked great, and I don’t mind the flat black because it didn’t take away from the body design, if anything it adds to it, especially the back bumper, but inside it’s so comfortable and I love the sound system, especially the surround sound, it’s super comfortable and everything is soft touch, and I loved the styling. Did it have a sound? No, but the looks and the speed does it for it, it has great quality as well, all I’d need to do is lower it, and add additional power (the guy had 70 additional horsepower added)
Just put a down payment on a 2023 because it totally blew away Tesla only downside is range but I have a short commute and don’t do long distance often I cannot wait to get mine
How have you found the car? I'm getting a new 2023 model next week.
Great video, this vehicle kinda looks like the side profile of the 2014 Scion tC which isn’t a bad thing at all. Thought it was an underrated vehicle.
That car is frickin gorgeous
I asked for this a week ago and BOOM we get the review! Thank you good sir.
Looks better than a Tesla.
So right about that!
Doesn’t take much 😂
True
What doesn't?
I think the Polestar 2 is a very handsome car. I haven't driven one, yet, but I wish the mileage was a little more efficient. I also wish there were some more exciting exterior color options.
I’m so beyond excited to take delivery next week of my Magnesium 2!
Great review as always Joe! Next I would really love for you to take a look at a Lucid Air. That would be dope!!!
I like it. My only zonk is they upcharge for every color other than black.
That’s a great point!
I've not seen an automaker that DIDN'T do this. (it's not always black though, but there's always only one choice that doesn't cost extra)
What a heavy car. But I love that there is info where the gauges are. The one thing I hate about the Tesla model 3 is that it’s just a screen. No info or gauges.
Thanks for letting me share this one with you!
I'm a kia guy, really never heard of polestar or been interested in any Volvo but this is nice.
Few things that would keep me from buying is the range and I live in Texas I need that sunroof shade and ventilated seats but nice car overall. Especially since I'm an android fan And this infotainment system is android based.
A sunroof shade is now available on the website to purchase.
Good video, and a great car to review. The POV take was a good idea. My only suggestion would be showing the shifter operation. The tradional P-R-N-D-L shift arms are going away, and it would be cool to see how each manufacters gear selectors operate especially in the upcoming age of EV's
Uncle Joe This Polestar 2 is Midsize Sedan Right Like a BMW 3 Series,Audi A4,Mercedes C Class,Tesla Model 3,Lexus IS 500,Infiniti Q50,Acura TLX & Genesis G70 Right Joe

So much better than the TM3.

the open roof actually does a good job keeping heat out.
Thanks for sharing that Intel. It would be nice to have a shade though.
Nice car. The 2nd cup holder could have a heater or cooler. Keep your drink at 34 degrees on the dash. They should also have a sliding roof on the outside for summer.
roof cover available on website now.
I like the flat black at the bottom of the body, less paint damage from the road.
I am so glad that you like this one.
Also, I think it breaks up the bulk of the body and makes the car sleeker. It already has relatively small windows.
Great review. I test drove one last week and was impressed. Wanted to compare it with Kia's EV-6. Have you done that and had an opinion? VERY hard to find an EV-6 in stock anywhere that hasn't been bought within the last hour. Polestar tells me that if I put a down payment down today, the car would arrive in late October...
I test drove a new ev6 Friday
As An Volvo / Polestar Fan, I Really Like Their Vehicle New & Used Especially This One. Also This Vehicle Is Done Much Better Than Tesla For Good. Also I Hope That I Will Afford One Of Those Sooner To Drive Around. But Excellent Review Joe.

I love the flat black .. It looks so amazing
Are you saying the projector beam will move with the steering. This is my first time seeing the adaptive features. Amazing!
Putting the Google map out of the infotainment system from the middle of the car rather like Tesla where everything is there really makes me love it more.
Yea, pixel LED technology allows the high beams on and not blurring vision of oncoming drivers.
As usual great review! Too bad this car doesn't have the performance package. For a mere $6500 Canadian dollars you get 4 Ohlins suspension forksand 4 Brembo brakes which easily worth the cost alone. A no-brainer IMO if anyone is getting a polestar2.
I am so glad that I could bring it to you!

Look at that, you can have a large info system screen without it looking like you superglued grandmas tablet to the dash. I find it weird that not all new vehicles especially EV's coming out don't have rearview camera mirrors. That should be standard.
just test drove one of these today. at fist it was "ok", then i tried to pass a slow poke and it launched like a rocket, whoa!
Love the look at this car. The only thing holding me back is I would need to update the wiring in the house. But I will be keeping this vehicle in mind if and when I do buy a new car
I bought and installed a charging station in my driveway for less than $1500 for the station, wiring and circuit breaker upgrades.
I drove one of those last year in August. This girl was a spokesperson for the company here in Austin TX. I was at top golf with her and a friend and she let us get in and drive in the parking lot . She said they have a program where if you want to test drive one all you do is go online make an appointment and a rep will show up to your location to give you a test drive . I will say it’s super plasticky on the interior in person . To me it looks like a Dodge Avenger with a bit of Ford Taurus . Not a great look but not super ugly either it’s just kinda meh to me personally . The one I tested didn’t have the Brembo break kit but you can get it with orange calipers or red I believe .

I'm near where Tesla originated here in California and have yet to see a Polestar on the road. That says so much!
At one time I was seriously considering Polestar but just thought their pricing and separation from Volvo dealerships didn't make any sense.
I've had my M3 Dual Motor for 14 months now which was delivered to my apartment in perfect condition.
No issues whatsoever and I'm still receiving free charging. Millage is still low so that may account why free charging is still valid.
Driving this car is a hoot.....everytime!
Other brands are interesting but I still have the most efficient and powerful EV on the planet with a charging network that's perfect.
Yeah, Tesla's are like the new Corolla here in California. So tired of seeing the bloated fish everywhere.

@@benjaminsmith2287 To each his own I guess but at least you rented one and have had a good look. @A Light I just don't like how tesla design their cars, it look like bug .
Almost bought this car but didn’t like how the center console takes up so much space. Love the tech though.
I am so glad that I could share it with you!
Damn had me up until no ventilated seats. Also the pano roof with no cover during the FL summer months could a problem.
I feel your pan man!
There are ventilated seats with the Napa leather interior option. It’s another $4,000 but worth it in my opinion. This price point should have nice materials and ventilated seats haha
Love this car. It's really nicely designed and as it's really a Volvo, I can bet it's very safe too. However two things puzzle me about it. Why would you put the second cup holder under the armrest? It means you can't have two drinks in and rest your elbow down at the same time. I also don't get why the floor isn't completely flat in back given it's an EV.
I am glad that I could share this one with Justin!
Yeah the center console doesn't really have a lot of room and the non flat floor at the back is because they share the XC40 plateform which is an internal combustion engine car in the first place so they used that space to put some extra batteries, not a big deal because you wouldn't be able to fit 3 adults at the back comfortably, it's really more of a 4 seater, the car seems big but it really isn't it's pretty easy to park and has a really small turning radius, also it is really good looking and unusual to see on the roads it turns some heads. I have a Polestar 2 myself and something that I think isn't mentioned in the video and is for me the biggest problem is that the camera at the back sits very low and gets dirty easily and they didn't put a spray to clean it so you must actually go there and wipe it sometimes. It is for me the biggest problem otherwise I didn't get any issue it is a joy to ride in, especially if it's the dual motor.
@@Boombi_ Wow that's quite insightful. Thanks for sharing. It's surprising when little inconveniences come up on cars at this price point. Don't they do everyday testing that point these things out?
@@justincredible1990 For a Volvo -because underneath the skin that's what it is- I'm surprised it isn't more expensive, XC40's with a few options get really close to the polestar 2 price and more expensive than the entry models. And given it's an EV and that right now that technology is more expensive and the interior which imo is prettier than Teslas and better built the price seems ok, the model 3 has a lot of things that would put me off buying it, yes it has a bigger range and has the Tesla supercharger network, it is the better EV, (Other EV's can now charge on superchargers in some countries already so it won't be an argument soon anymore) but other than that, the fact you have a dedicated driver display with your map, your speed and don't have to look at a center screen, have a big trunk hatch which makes it easier to load things, or have more confidence in the built quality and that you won't have to send it back to the dealership just after delivery because some panels are misaligned or you have foggy headlights, this makes the polestar 2 the better car, it feels more premium to sit in, Tesla's interior are minimalistic, but they're so empty, the polestar 2 also has a minimalistic interior but that's been better achieved. And exterior wise it is also arguably better looking compared to the Model 3.
@@Boombi_ Exactly. I think the Polestar 2 is almost a bargain for the tech and refinement you get. Forget that it is an EV and just think of the suspension tuning and brakes that you usually pay at least $10,000 more for in a Polestar Volvo. This is essentially a Volvo with this tuning. People don't really realize that Polestar is an expensive brand and this is the entry level car. The build quality is considerably better than any Tesla I've been, including S models. Teslas have a ton of performance and a lot of tech but Volvo/Polestar has build quality and more mechanical refinement. They're worth at least as much as people pay for Teslas, IMO.
Lets talk about what's going on here......Loving the sick fade haircut Joe.....That said, I love this car. Your review has convinced me. I think the full glass roof's lack of a shade is bad. That would be the the only thing (zonk) for me. PoleStar 2 > Telsa for me.
100% Agree
The color is 👀🔥
Especially in the Florida sun!
Much to like, but not sure I could live with it. If that suns beats through the roof, forget it. Also, strange location for the second cup holder. Lastly, why can’t designers take the time to build a screen into the dash? It’s as if they build the vehicle and then see what size screen they can fit on top of it. By the way, the vertical screen layout does not work well with CarPlay, learned that from my Volvo experience.
I know how you feel!
The Polestar 2's infotainment system is Android Automotive OS. As far as I know, there is no support yet for CarPlay. It is eventually expected to be added as an OTA update.
You can get one without the glass roof. The center console is definitely unorthodox but the cockpit overall has a cozy drivers car feeling. Get a test drive (they bring the car to you for it) if you are living near a Polestar space.
I like the flat black around the wheels. I really like the looks of the Polstar. Would like a little better range and the cup holder/armrest setup needs help. Current events give me pause regarding Polstar and Volvo's mother company. Still high interest to me though.
No Twinkies; you Sold me Joe with the first ON THROTTLE!!!
I like the way that you think!
I would go with the Polestar, Volvo has always made nice cars and I trust them more.
At least you realize it's a Volvo. Some folks here are calling it Chinese, which is a mistake. It drives like a Volvo but with a much more precise and sporty suspension. Or like a Polestar Volvo like the XC60 Polestar or S60 Polestar.

What size is the tire in inches? Hello
Joe just say it a VOLVO twin brother of an Polstar brand under a Volvo brand twin! TINY Fog lights and not sure this has rear fog lights? No LONG range!
Most of the personnel at Polestar are ex Volvo or shared Volvo engineers and designers. The CEO,Thomas Ingenlath, used to be Volvo's head designer, for instance.
The fog lights, although tiny, work great! There is a rear fog light as well.
My buddy is a tow truck driver. He towed a few of them under 3k miles with issues.
Joe and Lori: Nice car…where are the knobs for info center? Seems like great performance though. How do you load stuff in the back with your garage door in the up position..lift back seems really high…guess you need to back out of garage to load stuff in the back? Thanks for bringing it!
I have the polestar and there’s no issue at all with the tailgate height in my garage. You can set a memory on the tailgate if you don’t want it to open as high.
Just curious, why is the plate from Washington?
JJ - amazing > ya bring the goods when, no one else got them
That center console is a huge waste of space - the shifter is electric and could easily be pushbuttons on the dash or on one of the stalks and all of that space in the console could become storage.
I’ll take the 7500 tax break on this that poor fit and finish Tesla no longer qualifies for.
I like the features on this better than the Tesla.
Same here! Plus it is better put toghether!
I wish more companies beyond Ford and Rivian were competitive with Tesla... 250 Mile range, 4.4 sec 0 - 60, $55k... I'd rather keep my model 3 performance - 300+ Mile range, 3.1 sec 0-60, $59k. Granted this car looks a bit bigger and I am sure the fit and finish is nicer. Probably better support from Volvo dealerships as well
It's smaller. It's just a bit higher up. But I think the overall width and length is a bit less than the Model 3.
Interestingly, I saw a real world range test and the polestar outperformed it’s stated range by ~20% and Tesla underperformed from their stated range. The service is definitely a plus with polestar. They will pick your car up and bring it back which is nice. The fit and finish is exponentially better, like you said. The new performance polestar 2 is 4.2 sec 0-60 which isn’t as fast as a M3P but still pretty damn fast. And with the fast back you can fold the seat down and get much more storage than a model 3. Overall, a really nice entrant into the EV race. I love Tesla but this definitely makes me think a little! Haha
This is probably the only EV I’d buy currently. Looks good, very safe, not ridiculously expensive. Seems good to me. Tesla are 🤢🤮
ill keep my s90 for now, when polestar makes a luxury sedan hit me up.
