Sweet choice. My research is leading me to believe this is peak pure Porsche. Lots of videos on this please. Comparisons between generations, facelifts, running costs, reliability, fun factor, track days. Keep it up 💯
Congratulations man! You won't get tired of it. Don't ever sell it, keep it forever. I bought a 997.2 Carrera S with no aero kit. Has the same wheels as yours. Love that thing, and love blasting through corners with it.
Congratulations. I test drove a c4s 997.1 on Saturday. I couldn’t believe how heavy the clutch was. The steering was heavy but probably cause I’m use to a m4. How it got down the road. I completely get why ppl crave them. As I do now. M4 will be going. Who cares about speed n numbers it’s how it feels n drive
Hey, I know where you are at, earlier this month I bought my dream car. A 997.1 911 turbo. I agree 100% with the comment about enjoying driving at low speeds. Just feels special. I love mine. Hope you enjoy yours.
Sounds great! what a good example. I did a similar purchase, buying my old boss's 997.1 C4S convertible. "You will have smiles per mile", is what he told me when I bought it.
Congratulations! You finally have taken the Porsche Red Pill and will never look at cars the same way again! I have owned a 2006 997.1 Carrera 4S for 14 years now. Purchased with 6k miles, pristine/new condition. 14 yrs later, now it has 95k miles, and I still love it! It still thrills me and looks so good rolling down the road. I have driven the newer Porsches and although they may be faster and feel newer with the latest tech/gadgets, I have yet to be able to justify upgrading for the price difference. The joy to drive versus price of admission is just not there for me to upgrade. I love the 997/987s that much. Great, simple, beautiful cars. Great spec you got. Enjoy in good health!
997s are really great cars! Will go down as one of the best 911s, but what makes it truly special is that it rescued Porsche from the 996. Had a 2006 S & loved it. Now have a 997.2 4S, my dream car.
Congrats Stef. Just bought my first Porsche 4 days ago. It is a 991.1 Carrera S convertible. I have come from a long line of Mercs with the last 2 being a SL500 and a SL 63. There is no comparison to the Porsche. The 997 and 991.1 share the same NA engine so I get the joy of listening to the engine from 6K revs upwards. Enjoy and keep up updated. The SL63 had 585 BHP but the Porsche is a different level. Power without control is nothing!
Congratulations on the new car, it looks fantastic. You will probably now always have a Porsche in your life. You need to do one of those movie video's like the Alfa.
I bought a 2006 C2S about 12 months ago. Threw the PASM away straight away and had her dialled in on KW V3s. Took it straight to the Nurburgring after that and haven't looked back. Such a great car! mine is Balsalt Black also. Great choice!
Congratulations! I have a basalt black 996 C4S with a factory aero kit too! I absolutely love mine and I can hear it in your voice. It is also my first 911. Enjoy! 👍😎
Nice video Stef! Nice car and low mileage too. I’ve owned my 997 4s for 7 years now. Love the buzz it gives me and all the analogue stuff you mentioned are true. Newer cars are faster for sure but they feel disconnected compared to this generation. Sadly may have to sell mine soon to pay for some building works but will be back in the market for one as soon as I can afford the next one.
rear engine, rear wheel drive, staggered width front and rear setup, big grin on your face from driving it.. man this is almost as good as the smart 451 brabus! 👌👌🙂
Such a pretty car, I’m looking for one at the moment, but it will be my daily, so may be a 991 4S. Coming out of a C7.5 RS6, I so need to scratch that 911 itch!
Am now into the 3rd year of Porsche 997.2 ownership , I’m still smiling and like you can’t believe I own such a car . I just love mine. Yours looks very clean , great car. I got a beauty too , same colour . Have fun !
i had the same car but with auto box back in 2006 with same aero kit. white paint with black interior red stitching's and transmission tunnel was white and seat backs white like exterior color. congrats man excellent choice.
Beautiful car. I was in the market for one of these, but a Turbo Tip with 44k miles came up for sale that I couldn't pass up. The manual version of my car was out of my budget but I'm still pinching myself that I have a Turbo 911. If I "need" the manual in the future, this is exactly what I'd get. Subscribed!! Also, I couldn't agree that the 997 shape is by far the best looking 911.
Congratulations on getting yourself an amazing car! What are those spings? I’m thinking about getting H&R springs & spacers for my 997.1 4S, but I’m a bit worried that I will lose the ride comfort.
I recently fitted Eibach springs with H@R spacers to my 997 C4S and if anything the ride comfort is as good if not better than stock whilst also feeling more planted during ‘spirited’ driving! Go for it you won’t regret it.
Do it. I fitted blue H&R springs and the matched Bilstein Sport B8 shocks to my previous 996.2 C2 manual. And spacers 17mm all around. Perfect height drop and stance. The 997.1 suspension is very similar to the 996.2. Big handling improvement, and steering sharper (the 996 steering is better than 997). The ride was firmer but not hard, compliant and great damping. And.importantly, 'Er Indoors was happy with it.
Congratulations Stef. That’s my dream too; a manual 911. I currently drive an Abarth 500 Esse Esse with Record Monza Exhaust in Red with white accents.
I’m on the look out for one of these or gen 2 GTS I recently drove a 997.1 Turbo and to be honest as brilliant and exhilarating that it was I found it too explosive and frantic. My choice would always be a naturally aspirated flat 6 engine
Funny enough I have the 997.1 C2 and I bought the Arbath 595 Turismo after watching your channel. They are both amazing cars, I love both cars as they put smile on my face every time I drive them 😂
Stunning car fella. Whatever generation you want, always just go for the one that’s right when the chance presents itself. My dad looked for ages for his g series, ended up calling into the Porsche centre near to where he was at a meeting in Corby, sales exec showed him a few in stock, including the one he bought - it was stunning condition, and had his dream spec (leather, sports seats in nice colour, good stereo, alarm and immobiliser, whale tail, sunroof etc. The dealer said they’d bring it down to Surrey when they could but he picked it up 3 weeks later when he finished his deal and loved it so much he kept it for 20 years.
Great vid. Just got a C4s and loving it but my 996 .1 with engine rebuild and MO30 set up gives me more grunt and visceral experience. The 997 is very nice but definitely more refined which is very welcome but my 996 is so raw in comparison and definitely feels more nimble with it being lighter and 2wd. Still in the honeymoon period and hope I get through it or I may keep the 996 and let the 997 go 🤦🏻♂️😑
Love it!!! Absolutely stunning example. The only thing I would change would be the wheels for a current Porsche rim option. I just think the current wheels although nice make it look dated.
Congratulations! I echo your excitement for the 997.1 as well. I bought my 2007 997.1 CS2 in 2021 and absolutely love it. The 997.1 is truly becoming a Porsche classic and will only go up in value. What year is your 4S?
I have a 996.2 3.6 c2 cab love driving it with the top down in sunny California. 911 are the perfect sport cars great handling and it seems like there alive. I have driven new mustangs, hellcats, scat packs and there missing something even tho they are more powerful cars.
What a stunning car! Love it. Really curious as to how much one of these set you back? Hope you don’t think it too personal a question. Have liked and subscribed. Thanks 🙏
Well done Stef, looks like a great car. Been a while since I’ve caught up with your channel. Sounds awesome, like a Porsche should. I might be in the market for a “proper” car again soon too!
@@StefABtv interested as you seemed to know the car well, did you have a full pre purchase inspection, especially around the much documented bore score? I'm guessing this spec and condition set you back around £40k and I can only see prices increasing as the last pure 911.

Great car and good video. It looks fabulous and the paintwork clearly well sorted. Ceramic finish gives easy care, but the same quality finish is achievable with paint correction and non-ceramic coatings. The coatings just need reapplying, so more work, but if you love the car that's a Labour of love and adds to the ownership experience. The downside of ceramics is often glossed over (pun intended) and that is that they eventually degrade and then in order to correct the finish it needs to be cut off because it's an integral part of the paintwork. I wouldn't ceramic a car like this.
Hey stef, I think I’m in the same boat as you about these cars with the exception it’s one of those cars you love to own but quickly forget about so hey presto it took a few years to finally find one same as yours except with a ‘Makkassr sycamore package “ basically it’s a tan interior with wood on the wheels and inserts around the interior, I think there aren’t many or even any in wood, midnight blue same factory aero kit and wheels 2006 6 speed C4S with upgraded LED drls & rears lenses & all bulbs LED and had a Hartech full rebuild by previous owner who is the credit to before I bought it and absolutely love it!!. I finally could say I have a Porsche now that I’m fast approaching 50! , my other cars is a 2016 CLS63 S (721bhp)shooting brake in hyacinth red which incredibly rare in the estate let alone in regular coupe which is still a rare model by Mercedes . Best of both worlds for I have a busy lifestyle and a 911 for those Sunday cruising and the estate for family usages for all to enjoy the power 💪🏻.
Got to say, this generation of Porsche is probably my favourite, and really good value at the moment. The 3.8 does suffer from a few common issues, but as long as you have it in mind that at some point it 'may' need an engine rebuild, just drive it and enjoy it! Regular oil changes every 5k miles or so and definitely no point in worrying about what 'might happen'. I bought a 3.2 987 Boxster S last year and whilst not quite the power of the 997, it's still nigh on 300bhp with the stainless valved exhaust I fitted (read LOUD!) helping it breathe a bit better. Love the car and not sure I will ever be without some kind of Porsche in my life. Mine is also Basalt black, it's not my favourite colour (Seal Grey is probably my favourite) but I did not want a silver one having had many silver cars in my time. I think your car does look a bit 'plain' without some decals on (if it was mine, I'd definitely add the 'Cayman R' style side stripes as they make the 987/997 look so good), and perhaps add back the rear badge. Absolutely amazing car, PCCM+ is also a big bonus!
My 2006 911 C4S 6 speed I bought in late 2017 with 83,000 miles , now has 105,000 miles after just completing a 5,000 mile, 5 week, 5 western US states , 5 National Park journey with my bride of 38 years this past summer 2023.

It looks perfect without decals they just cheapen the look and look tacky
@@2702simmo I disagree if done tastefully but each to their own.
