      @@alanchamberlain9902we do see in 2 that his family style was deadly, and taught to US special forces. We can also infer from cobra kai it might actually have replaced the way of the fist (which is the style silver uses) It’s not hard to believe at all he could take both of them down. Remember he never teaches Daniel anything about fighting, yet Daniel wins two major regional tournaments; if that’s just the defensive side of the style, I think he’s good.

      A friend of mine was a teacher at a kung fu school many years ago. Every year the old chinese masters would come in and fight the younger black belts straight up as an exhibition. It was amazing that the older masters never lost and pretty much embarassed their younger, stronger opponents. Older masters defeating younger fighters is very common and realistic. The Miyagi scenes are good and could easily happen in real life. Our western culture is so behind in many disciplines and it really shows up here.

    Watching the fight choreo of these old films really shows how much fight choreo has come.
    Now you got everyone learning wushu and kung fu to really create the fast pace action of Hong Kong cinema.
    Watching this now. The fighting in these looks so stupid and clearly completely crap. Unlike the Kung fu films this genre of hollywood martial arts films mimicked which had a real visual story telling to it while keeping up a rhythm and pace in an ongoing fight.

    • @JessicaChastainFan
      @JessicaChastainFan 3 дня назад

      Wrong. Fights now are awful because they were inspired by the obviously choreographed fights that look and feel more like rehearsed dancing. You can't tell a story if it's am overly long fight with fast moves that lack realism. That's why Bruce Lee's fights were the best and, unfortunately, briefly ended the dance choreography in Hong Kong. Bruce's fight were grounded, real and if you've ever been in a fight or seen one, it NEVER plays out like a Chan or Jet Lee fight. It doesn't even play out like a typical fight from the Raid movies or John Wick.
      You're at a major loss here with this particular fight. Miyagi vs. Silver, Kreese and Barnes is more like a real fight. Brief, awkward and unexpected. When I watch the Raid and Raid 2, I know exactly how the fight will go and how it'll play out. The rehearsed routines of modern fights make it too obvious.
      Nice try, though, kid. One day you'll learn.

      I don’t think Brandon would’ve taken it. The franchise started about ten years after the death of his dad, which isn’t all the long considering. starring in a movie about karate would bring significant comparison. No matter how good or bad he was, it would always live in his dad shadow.

      I disagree. A big part of the movie was a martial arts novice being taken under the wing of an elder from a completely different culture. Lee doesn't fit that bill.

    Mr Miyagi is overrated and a Yoda rip off, this worked in the 80s but wouldn't translate today, Someone as small and old as Miyagi taking out prime Silver who's 6'5, prime Kreese and Mike is just not believable. Then in Cobra Kai the writers simp for Miyagi and Daniel. Literally Daniel can't go 2 full sentences without preaching about Miyagi. And Miyagi Do is a cringe style, it would never work irl, the crane kick? give me a break, and the terrible writers Jon, Josh and Hayden copied this scene in S5 of Daniel v Silver similar to Terry v Miyagi. The writers love having Cobra Kai looking weak and losing all the time on the show.
