What i always see with actors or actresses, that they are always who playes the villians roles are always the nicest people in real life. No exception with Martin Kove..
Cobra Kai despite it's budget was handled SO well, the right amount of nostalgia without peppering it too much and becoming a parody of itself and the characters were handled so well by the writing team...DISNEY take notes, this is how Star Wars should have been treated...instead of butchering the Skywalkers... This series was handled with a ton of respect and I've genuinely enjoyed watching it so far. Can't wait for Season 4!
What's funny is that by all accounts, Kove is an exceedingly sweet man. But he sure plays a great baddie! And he plays it with such relish. In the interviews, the cast always giggles because he so mean in the series and so nice off the set, and sometimes it's hard to keep it together knowing who he is behind the scenes.
It’s like Montalban as Khan. Seems like he was one of the kindest souls, but holy cow was he an intimidating villain just absolutely hell bent on revenge.
John Ashbaugh it’s a really good series though. You should be able to get RUclips Red for free for a month, to watch the 1st and 2nd series coming. Hal Jordan Dolph Lundgren definitely showed his true colors of being a nice cordial guy in his first starring role in the 1987 he man movie flick where he played he man in live action back in 1987
Huge respect for Martin. He played such a hateable character in John Kreese but is such a sweet guy here. Great acting. As far as Pat Morita, for a kid growing up in the 80s, he was like a father figure to me over the course of those 3 films. He influenced me so much that I cannot see Pat as anyone other than Mr. Miyagi. A true legend of the screen.

Despite having passed away...no longer there...the presence of Pat Morita as Mr. M can still be felt in Season 1 & 2 of CK. When they do flashbacks of Miyagi and Daniel there is this tightening of the throat at the exhibit of good values..of the power of goodness and that true strength resides here. So moving. You also appreciate how talented M. Cove is in that a basically nice guy can play the contemptible Kreese with such finesse.
Wow, what an unexpectedly thoughtful, articulate, and professional guy. A pleasure to listen to his stories and his take on the series. Very interesting.
Mr. Kove seems like a really nice guy. Whenever he talks about the Karate Kid world, he seems so grateful to have been such a big part of it. One thing that will always stand out to me about him wasn't the mean Sensei Kreese character or all of the great quotable lines he did. It is a behind the scenes interview he did where he visited the original Cobra Kai dojo from the original Karate Kid movie. And he got emotional because he recounted his parents coming to visit him right in the dojo. It was a very sweet moment.
IT'S absolutely fantastic too get too hear & see these one on one interview's with such great actor's. Take Martin Kove for instance? Always He was a costar or a second character that really didn't mean a lot too a film, or thier role wasn't a Key component too the overall. Now we are told how Key & crucial it really was. As for Martin's career, he was really unique, special, and exceptionally good n really outstanding in all those roles he played. Basically he's been an unsung hero or villain throughout his long career. Thank You.
Martin Kove seems like a cool guy. Shout out to him for the John Kreese role. May Pat Morita R.I.P. Wish he were still alive to not only see Cobra Kai, but to be in it. TERRANCE OUT
I understand that Martin is actually a trained martial artists as stated in his IMDB page? He played the part of Kreese very well, a complicated bad guy with a lot of issues.
Martin wasn't a lightweight, He played his character so well I had to keep telling myself not to hate him and it was difficult! He was very believable.
He was in a tv show in the late 80’s called hard time on planet earth, as a little kid I remember loving it, it never took off but I still have fond memories of that show.
Martin is such a good actor. I look at him and I still see the evil character he plays. Then he talks and you realize he’s a good guy doing an amazing job of portraying a villain.

Kreese and Silver are some of the best villains on screen. Both of their actors are so good at being charismatic, confident, and downright evil.
80s me- I cannot wait to be an Adult..
2021's me- take me back to the 80s
You and me both mate
Mine is the 90s but I know the feeling
Coming too!!!
I keep saying it 80s were the best ..👍👍👍
Yep. Feel the same. Miss the 80s so bad.
I love this guy. It ain’t easy to play a horrible character. He’s gracious and brilliant. ♥️
I'm so sorry I haven't seen interviews with Martin Kove earlier. Such a treasure to the series and a great actor. Nailed it, man.
Martin Kove seems like a genuine nice guy, and one of the best 80's movies "bad guy".
What i always see with actors or actresses, that they are always who playes the villians roles are always the nicest people in real life. No exception with Martin Kove..
I think that's what makes a great actor.
Go watch the Mandolorian, you waited all your life for this... and if you don't watch it, at least check Season 2 last episode.
@@vonb2792 he's specifically talking about the sequel trilogy tho. He might like that show.
So this is the first time i actually realized that John Kreese is a character and not just a pure evil person who was in the karate kid...
You had 36 years, Tyrone...
Go back to basketball.
How do you know i play basketball 😳
gotta love when a master story teller is in the room
Who's here after watching Cobra Kai on netflix????
I am
Life long fan on the karate kid
Yes!! Cannot wait for season 3 😢
Yes !
Same
“ Cobra Kia never dies!”
So I kicked my boss on the nuts , got fired .
Lol
Getting fired is for the WEAK!!!!
So , I got my stimulus , so went to my exboss office , and kicked him on the nuts , I got arrested use my stimulus for my bail .
DO YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THAT?!
Looking forward to Cobra 🐍 Kai, Season 2! Updated : Season 3 just came out. Season 4 Next! 👍
John Ashbaugh it’s a really good series though. You should be able to get RUclips Red for free for a month, to watch the 1st and 2nd series coming. I’m a big fan, because the Karate kid movies came out, back when I was in middle school. It’s cool to see these original actors returning to do this. Along with lots of new actors👍
@@GodofWarChuka I am bringing you a message from the future. Cobra Kai is on Netflix!
Don’t you mean season 3 ?
@@Jimmy-rd5ig and season 2 was awesome
hell yeah man
Martin Kove and Dolph Lundgren
The best villains that are nice guys irl
🤫🤫🤫
Hal Jordan Dolph Lundgren definitely showed his true colors of being a nice cordial guy in his first starring role in the 1987 he man movie flick where he played he man in live action back in 1987
Phil Jermakian Hopefully he'll make a cameo appearance in the upcoming Live Action He-man movie that'll hit theaters March 5th 2021
Martin is so underrated as an actor, but as stated a kind man in reality
Biff ❤️
Jack Palance. Jack Elam.
A pair of squint-eyed Jacks in the hand, and Lee Van Cleef up the sleeve...
Pat Morita would ne so PROUD of this WONDERFUL show. A masterpiece.... Sets a standard for television.
Karate Kid: one of the best movies ever! Especially the end scene / final fight - never fails to give me goose bumps.
Loved watching him as 'Arnold' in Happy Days singing In The Light of the Silvery Moon.
Best line Pat Morita delivered was in MASH, "You all look alike to us" to Hawkeye & Trapper
Good one lol, I got to go with "Sanford Son" first time Fred meets Ahchew he tells Lamont you better stop hanging with him you catch the yellow fever and Ahchew off script says so what do you got the black plague and thanks to the magic of RUclips you can go back watch that scene and Redd kinda smiles as he was caught off guard. Redd tells producer keep it in the scene
Another great line was in"Happy Days", what key would you like in in? Oh doesnt matter, Asia,Minor
I think that the funniest line was when Henry Blake asked him "What's the Korean word for suicide"? With which he responds (and was allowed to get away with it in the 70's if I might add, "that's Japanese, we don't do that shit"!! Now that was funny!!!
@@07Convertable, I thought he said stick.
@@07Convertable You couldn't get away with saying shit on broadcast TV back then. He actually said "Schtick," which I think is even funnier because it's a Yiddish word.
I've met him twice now and have to say, even though both encounters were very brief...no more than a minute or two...he was SUPER nice. Hands down one of the friendliest actors to his fans.
Just listening to Martin Kove I like his professionalism and humility. Class Act
The way he pronounces the word “kara-te” at 4:28 is just priceless.
its the way you say it, and shows great respect towards tradition and culture.
hat’s off
My grandma went to high school with Pat Moirita. Armijo high school in Fairfield California. He’s in her yearbook
Met Martin Kove at London Film and Comic Con a few years back - honestly could not have been nicer, absolute gent.
Wow, what an unexpectedly thoughtful, articulate, and professional guy. A pleasure to listen to his stories and his take on the series. Very interesting.
Martin Kove, what an unparalled old school consumate professional. Very enjoyable to listen to his accounts and perspective.
What a fantastic storyteller he is!! So interesting to see and hear him speak!
Man he's such an underrated actor.
Martin kove looks very healthy after all this year...keep it up sir!
73 years young.
What a good good Actor.
That black panther poster in the back... 😢 Pat and Chadwick are legends living in heaven.
this was one of those movies where every single member of the cast just got it. Simple concept and plot but the cast made it a classic
100%
You can tell he's a serious martial artist by the way he rolls his "r" when he says "karate".
warms my heart to hear how affectionate he is towards Pat. Great guy.
Lots of respect for Martin. Thanks for making the movie & tv great.
One of the best movies...just watched all 3 today. Too dope for 2020
Huge Martin Kove fan. He was the main reason I watched “Cagney & Lacey”
Loved that show.
I. Had. Forgotten.
Cagney and Lacey- this guy was the comic relief. 😉👍🏻
he seems like a great guy
IT'S absolutely fantastic too get too hear & see these one on one interview's with such great actor's. Take Martin Kove for instance? Always He was a costar or a second character that really didn't mean a lot too a film, or thier role wasn't a Key component too the overall. Now we are told how Key & crucial it really was. As for Martin's career, he was really unique, special, and exceptionally good n really outstanding in all those roles he played. Basically he's been an unsung hero or villain throughout his long career. Thank You.
Pat Morita was Mr Miyagi, if anyone else played Mr Miyagi, maybe Mako , nobody else,RIP Mako and Pat Morita!!🥋🥋🥋🙏😇
Japanese Legends.
@The Flying Dutchman OH snap didn't know that. I thought he was a Japanese brother who grew up in the States lol
Mako played a Miyagi rip-off character in the movie Sidekicks. In retrospect, it can now be seen as his try out for Uncle Iroh.
Mako, the magician who saved spiritually Conans life in such a barbarian iconic classic movie!
When I think of classic bad guys this man always comes to mind. I'm so glad to see him still enjoying success.
During the first karate kid this guy was absolutely perfect for that role! Spectacular acting
Martin wasn't a lightweight, He played his character so well I had to keep telling myself not to hate him and it was difficult! He was very believable.
If Expendables 4 ever happens, we need this guy! Such a gentleman and still looks terrific after all these years.
He def doesnt look 30+ years older
@@kevinr278 Sean Connery too but he's retired and 90 years old
You know it's a good show when the actors love it too
Amazing stories about the process. Martin, really awesome to hear about you and Morita, and your gratitude. Really cool all around.
He was in a tv show in the late 80’s called hard time on planet earth, as a little kid I remember loving it, it never took off but I still have fond memories of that show.
I remember that show I also liked space rangers and another show that came earlier was Automan with Desi Arnez jr lol
Just finished Season 2.
Fantastic.
Real depth and pathos.
Class act,we love you Martin.
Fear does not exist in this interview!!!
NO, SENSEI!
Fear does not exist in this interview...DOES it...?!!
dezstepz 24
might be *some*
Do pain or defeat?
no senei
Pat Morita's house was on my route here in Vegas (I'm retired FedEx). Never met him but I met his wife a couple times!
She played "Donna" in Cheech and Chong movies.
Love they have most of the original cast , rest easy Pat Morita ....roll on 2021 Season 3 , cant wait !!!
Martin is such a good actor. I look at him and I still see the evil character he plays. Then he talks and you realize he’s a good guy doing an amazing job of portraying a villain.
Kove is such a good bad guy its great to hear him be nice.
Great character development in season one and two. Cannot wait for season 3!!!!!
Martin Kove is a very talented actor. This guy has played everything from doctors, to boxers, to gangsters, to race car drivers!
I needed to listen to Martin as yes I’ve only ever seen him as a harsh human. And he’s lovely ❤
Running with chuck norris in the 60s/70s. Nice line.
He is a great at portraying a villain. Definitely was the right choice. Also, it's cool to see more backstory on his character.
Yes, I LOVE that part - shows the way why he is.
Great guest
Gotta say that Martin Kove seems like a genuinely nice guy and has that nice warm baritone voice that relaxes the room. Cool dude.
Thank u Martin kove for creating such a classic villain. Kreese is such a perfect villan.
