    You slipped up by calling folates folic acid which is a synthetic folate. They are not m etabolized the same way in the methylation cycle.

    Great Video. You explained the topic really well. As a qualified Nutritionist, I agree that vitamin deficiency is a common problem these days. I share more tips on the warning signs of vitamin deficiency that our body shows and how to fix it naturally by eating the right foods on my channel.

    Levels too low and serum b12 isn't a very reliable test. I have neuropathy in legs with a serum B12 of 575 and folate of 8.9. High homocysteine. Genetic issues can also play a part.

    Sorry, guy. Your b12 snd folate levels are way low. My b12 is 500 and my folate is 10. My dr told me they are both on the low end of normal. B 12 should be 800 and folate 15.

    B12 deficiency can be treated with ''Oral pills'' or ''Nasal Spray'' ? Does this not just increase the serum B12 ? How do Oral pills work if there are absorption issues. ? & how successful is Nasal spray. ?

    • @iMedSchool
      @iMedSchool  3 года назад +1

      Even when absorption is impaired there is some absorption that still occurs. Using oral pills at high doses makes sure that the body absorbs as much B12 as it can even with its reduced capacity. Also oral B12 will only work for some conditions. Nasal spray can be effective as it bypasses the intestinal tract, but it is not covered well by insurance companies in my experience. Supplementing the B12 is just increasing serum B12 and does not address the underlying issue/cause. Unfortunately many, but not all, of the causes for B12 deficiency are permanent or do not have a treatment.
