HoneyBadger2K14 I agree that that helps but there's a lot of practice behind it. But for real I would like him to show how he does it, slowly so that you could see every hit and start practicing it and get faster at it. Bc I'd actually like to know the technique. I guess there are also basedrum hits between the tom hits in the fast fills but yeah Idk.
Marc Signer I think it's two drum hits between every two Tom hit, so it's tomtom(drumdrum)tomtom(drumdrum) and so forth

i wanted to know if im the only one who can love mmf music but still appreciate deeply bands like aal and periphery. came here to read the comments and i think i got my answer, mainly by those worshipping him
shucklesors I agree with you, I mean I love MMF and his style of playing fits well with their music, but Matt and Matt make this guy look like an amateur, but their style is much more demanding as far as technicality. Still love Jake and appreciate his playing!

I love the sound of the actual drums. They sound so much bigger than the triggers on the album. Jake is a solid drummer, and I hope Memphis May Fire keeps climbing the ranks, their show is amazing.

I'd say Garland is the most underrated drummer in this genre of music. He's my 2nd favorite drummer behind Matt Griener.

He uses just standard vic firth 5B sticks.
If you don't already know the grip that he uses when he plays is called Power Grip, its where the stick is held at the second knuckle of your first finger. His hands are also in the GERMAN position which is where your palms are facing towards the floor and its more comfortable for heavy hitters like jake as your palm takes a lot of the shock from the stick and it means you can get those rim shots sounding FAT.

From his perspective, the 19" crash is on the left and the 20" crash is on the right (the one he uses for the chorus). Ride is on the left, but the lowest of all the cymbals (also hard to miss because it's the biggest). The 16" is between the 20" crash and the china, it's also the only cymbal with holes. Hihats are obviously all the way on the left. Or, reverse all of that if you want it from your perspective.

Ahh-frickin-mazing. Trying to learn this song. The inly paet I'm struggling with is the kick patterns. After that the fills should come fairly easily

yeah I understand I live in a house that's attached to another if that makes sense and I don't wanna be a bother, plus all my schooling gets in the way too. A doctor I used to work with suggested I buy a drumset and set a little money aside to rent out a decent size storage space, set up my kit, and jam out there lol
