A tune written in 1909 by a young lady, May Aufderheide, that still sounds fresh 115 years later. Eugene Grant playing percussion on the bar stool. At The Maison Frenchmen St. on Feb. 29, 2024.

She has been playing this one for a couple of years. It is a Bach Stradivarius "Shepherds Crook."

@JamesSterling In 1959, when I was 12, there was a TV show called Pete Kelly's Blues. I don't remember much about it other than I liked the funky prohibition-era vibe. The intro depicted him sadly pawning a cornet with a crook like that. I discovered just now that it ran only one season, and the last episode was titled "Sixteen Bar Tacit."

@@JiveDadson Before the TV show Pete Kelly's Blues was a radio show from I think about 1949. It starred Jack Webb, the creator and star of Dragnet.
