    I think you're being a little hard on the capabilities of the LC500. I find mine (which has RWS) very sharp. Yes, it's not a hot hatch, it's a GT, but a capable one. Think of the LC as a Japanese Aston. As for performance, I traded in my C63 (W205) for my LC, and the LC is so much more capable on the twisties - so from that perspective, it's a performance car with plenty of go

    Having an NA engine that revs to 7300 means the speed is not always accessible in daily driving. The car is plenty fast but you have to keep the RPMs above 5000 to get the best out of it. When you do, the entertainment value is off the charts. Still it's not a turbo engine nor a sports car, but has enough sporty edge in the coupe form and a great compliment to a 911 in the garage.
    Btw, I find Tommy's perspective more insightful and overall a better presenter 😎.

    I purchased a white 2022 LC 500 convertible last year after test driving a used 2021 convertible. As most reviewers have said, the LC 500 is a grand touring car, not a sports car and that's exactly what I wanted. The interior, exterior and engine are superb, simply fabulous. Everything about it is top notch and well designed but it is not a 911, which by the way, has shot up in price and costs at least $25K more than the LC 500. Lastly, I don't think the Mercedes or the 911 can come close to Lexus reliability so the purchase price is likely the most an LC 500 owner will have to pay.

    • @MercOne
      @MercOne Год назад

      Porsche easily matches Lexus in reliability in most surveys. Look it up. Servicing this car will not be cheap as it ages either.

    • @3212Dre
      @3212Dre Год назад

      @@MercOne Just to try to get good better perspective I went on the Porsche website to configure a base 911 to include the same equipment as the LC 500. MSRP for a comparable 911 convertible is $148,550 plus dealer markup. Ouch! BTW I've owned a Porsche and it was anything but reliable and parts are very expensive.

    • @MercOne
      @MercOne Год назад

      @@3212Dre You pay more for a better car. Even a base 911 smokes this thing in every objective measure. It's really sad how reliability has become the only real advantage a Lexus has today, and even that is overblown and isn't what it used to be. A Lexus should be more reliable, as they're using very old components in most case. The wonderful 5.0L V8 in this car dates back to 2008. The least it could be is reliable. I own a Lexus and their parts are not cheap either as they age. A Lexus not cheap to maintain as they age, just "cheaper" than a comparable European vehicle. This very important fact seems to be lost here.

    My unrealistic dream car. This is so far the only Lexus produced with this grill design that actually looks good to me. They discontinued my favorite color, that dark brownish red, whatever it was called. I saw one glistening in the sunlight in a parking lot and it was stunningly beautiful. I think they also discontinued the very distinctive white and blue interior, which is a shame. For such an expensive car, the interior color options are extremely limited with all-tan, all-black, or red-and-white combo. You should be spoiled for choice at $100k like cars from MB and BMW. I agree with Roman that the muscle car engine note is totally out of place in this very sleek and sexy boulevard cruiser.

    4:30 I have to say thats simply not true. From an actual owners perspective i happen to love the track pad. Here is why. Having owned the car you learn the menus and you know where to go w/ out looking. 2 you never touch the screen getting it dirty. 3 i can navigate while moving and not looking and i can make my hits. If it were touch id have to drop my eyes to look and struggle to hit my mark w/ my finger bouncing while the car is moving. Every "reviewer" hates the system because they are ppl who don't own the car and they don't "Know" the car. Owners chime in on this. Am i the only one who feels this way?

    I was not a fan of LC 500 at first. I thought the interior was dated, and I put money down for a C8 and 911 GTS. After watching a few people complaining about C8 and tranny issues, I asked me Porsche dealership rep when will I get the 992 GTS, and he said maybe in 1.5 to 2 years, and they general manger wanted 40k over MSRP. One day I took my wife's GX for service to a Lexus dealership and looked at an LC, and I really liked it in person. I got my deposit back from Porsche and Chevy and put a $5000 deposit for the LC bespoke build which is a coupe in Ultrasonic Blue. I will get it in a few months. 1:50 i said this about the trapezoidal spindle grille for a while now.
    They look very sublime on their swoopy cars, including their swoopier crossovers like the RX n NX… the LS, ES n IS also looks great with that grille.
    But they look absolutely horrific on their blocky ladderframe vehicles like the GX n LX. it just looks so out of place.

    Beautiful car but the infotainment does suck for such an expensive car. Does it even have CarPlay and Android Auto? Looks lie the new ones do so I assume it now has touchscreen at least.

      It has both CarPlay and Android Auto. I've had mine for ~18 months now. The key to living with this car is to minimize using the trackpad to select things on the screen. The temp buttons on the dash automatically control the HVAC system, the heated/cooled seats, the heated steering wheel and the heat scarf in the headrests. Navigation can be done by voice command. 99% of the time that we are interacting with the infotainment system, it's not me while driving but my wife changing the radio station.
      Lexus engineers created "climate concierge" to greatly reduce the number of buttons cluttering up the dash, but Lexus marketing failed to explain it properly.

    It's a stunning car, but true to Lexus form they're letting it die on the vine. Why oh why would you cancel the TT V8 version, the LC-F? That would have keep this car in the spotlight a little while longer. It's one of the best looking and best sounding cars on the road, but the 911, SL, 8-Series all kill it on the road performance wise and interior wise when it comes to modernity. Lexus needs to learn how to upgrade something besides their crossovers to keep them relevant. This car deserves better.

      I have an LC500 convertible, the main deficiency of it (that the -F cars fix) is having a dedicated trans cooler.
      If you haven't been to the Lexus Performance Driving School (totally worth the $$$), last year's cars were the IS500, RC-F and LC500. The big track laps were done in LC500's but the track instructors were all driving RC-F's.

    the honda hybrids use an electric motor under 60mph with the gas motor as as a generator.. above 60, the electric motor 'locks' and the wheels are driven by the gas motor

      I have a 21 convertible. Few folks want the V6TT for this car. It is the first V8 I have ever owned and it makes the car. If I want the V6 TT experience I will take my Gen 2 NSX out.

    8:04 Im offended by your statement Tommy. Im 40 and i bough this over a 911 because it does it just as good and happens to look better doing it. I take it to car shows and see others who have my car as younger than me even. Ironically the older guys who come up to me are when I'm taking the car from service and they want to know what it is. Old ppl don't know of this car. Thus your general statements of it are all wrong. In fact you should gather up the demographic figures for ownership prior to making those claims. Sorry I'm high and being an ass, but i find your comments offensive. I love my car.
