Sébastien Loeb is recognized as the best rally driver in the world. In 2003, he finished second in the World Rally Championship. Subsequently, from 2004 to 2012, he won the title of world rally champion nine times in a row. At that time, Loeb held the majority of rally records.
He is arguably the best driver in the world. In addition to being the first winner of three different world championships, he is the winner of the X Games, winner of the GT and Touring competitions.

I am willing to say, Seb may be the greatest car driver of all time. What he has done on the track, on paved, gravel and snowy roads (including Dakar and GT racing) and everything in between is probably unmatched. I mean - this is the dude who was not allowed to race F1, not because he was too bad but because he had not enough lower level closed circuit experience.

Seb Loeb is a real GOAT. He retired from active rally racing a few years ago, but this year he was asked by Ford to test the new Puma rally car and will be competing in a few WRC races this year. In January he entered and won the Monte Carlo rally. The funny thing is that with the other Sebastian (Ogier), who is also in a similar status at Toyota, there were only two of them in contention for the win, the youngsters were nowhere to be found compared to them.

    Hello,
the 208 T16 Pikes peak is a car made especially by Peugeot for this race. Tubular steel frame with carbon fiber body, 4 wheels drive, and a lot of parts from the Peugeot 908 wich won the 24 hours of Le Mans in 2009 (suspensions, carbon brakes, rear wing, gearbox). The motor is made by a french company name SODEMO and based on the motors used at Le Mans by the Pescarolo team, 3.2 l V6 twin turbo wich made 875 hp, same as the car weight (875 Kgs).
Michelin also made special tires for the car for this race.

Hey IWrocker :) Just some information about this: The old record was set by "Walter Röhrl" in 1987 (He set a 10:47 as the last 1/3 of the road was still gravel back then) and lasted until it was broken by "Sebastian Loeb" in 2013. The most impressive thing is that you drive uphill into really thin air. The engine losses around 20-25% power if you compare start to finish. The topspeed of the car is not that high, it's around 150mph but the cornering and acceleration is just extreme. *EDIT* There is a fast corner with a very steep drop that is named "devil's playground" (Should be the left turn at 8:46 in your reaction) and 2 guys survived the drop in 2012. Watch (no need to react but you can for sure) "RECARO Presents "Devil's Playground": The Jeremy Foley 2012 Pikes Peak Story" It's a 3:12 minute video.

Citroen are the inventor's of the comfort in France, Renault is more about the engine, Peugeot I feel is a really good family car that also makes fun to drive cars. But again they break, not as badly and expensively as the British cars. They're charming cars with big personalities.

The same day I gave the car back after it was end of life'd, I nearly trashed the brand new Vauxhall rep mobile as I made the mistake of thinking that I didn't have to modify my driving style. That was almost a call for new underwear.

Loeb has mainly dedicated himself to trying to win the Dakar the last few years. He's finished on the podium a few times--including this year when he finished second at 47 years old. It's arguably the toughest motor race in the world. He is indisputably the greatest rally driver the sport has known. He won the world championship 9 years running. He would have won it 10 years in a row, but in his very first championship he barely lost out to Petter Solberg when he was docked points for an illegal tire change. His streak ended when he retired. Through his active rallying career he had a winning percentage above 50%. This included a 4-years tint in the Citroën C4 during which he was UNDEFEATED on tarmac. Meaning he won every single tarmac rally he drove. That stat alone is insane and it's just one in a considerable list of records on his resumé.
