    Respect to you doctor for discussing this topic. It is a very tough balance sometimes getting the correct dose of finasteride without sides. I stopped cold turkey, and went through a bad period. Smart and well though out video as always.

    Doctor, I have immense respect for this incredible content. I was really struggling whether I would get PFS, but your explanation of hormones perfectly clarifies the cause. I’ll start gradually tapering off Finasteride as you recommended. Thank you for saving a life-I can’t thank you enough.

      @@hairtransplantinindia thanks for the reply. That’s reassuring to know as I’m sure with amount of Finasteride you have prescribed over the years, if this was as common a syndrome as the internet would suggest then you would have seen it in its abundance. Not to discredit its validity, but it’s important to hear about real world facts. Thank you 👍🏻

    Hi Doctor, I'm a male & now 30 years old. I was on Finasteride 1 mg (3x a week) + 1 ml 5% minoxidil daily before my HT (on frontal scalp & mid scalp) for a year. Then continued with Finasteride after HT (HT was done in March 2022) on a daily basis (1 mg fin per day) & 1 ml 5% minoxidil daily for a year. 6 months ago, I consulted a different Doctor & he prescribed 0.5mg dutesteride per day & oral minoxidil 2.5mg per day + 5% foam minoxidil on a daily basis. He told me to stop Finasteride immediately & start taking Dutesteride. After being on this new regime for 6 months, I can say my frontal hair line looks weaker than when I was on Fin. Plus, the hair behind my frontal scalp hair line have also become thin & some have fallen. I can see gaps, which was not too visible while I was on Fin. I do admit, in the last 2 to 3 months I increased my consumption of Ice cream to a high level (not consuming daily, though 2 to 3 times a week, tubs of ~200 to 300 ml in each sitting). Could this also be the reason for my hair loss? Or is Dutesteride the culprit?

    • @hairtransplantinindia
      @hairtransplantinindia  Год назад +1

      Hair loss due to androgenic alopecia is progressive. Even a DHT blocker cannot completely prevent it. Ice-creams do not cause hair loss.

    I specifically told my prescriber the side effects I was having and blatantly asked how to safely discontinue the drug. It completely went over his head as he instead just prescribed me the topical version to replace the pill 😒. I had no choice but to quit cold Turkey and boy did I pay!!! We definitely need an informational video like this… so the next person who gets trapped will be better informed of how to reduce the terrible consequences this drug can have.

    Thank you. I took 1.25mg finasteride a day in 2004 until 2005 at the age or 24 to 25. Just about one year. Unfortunately I never fully recovered from it to this day. The last 4 years I tried various treatments like DHEA, Pregnenolone, HCG and Testosterone Replacement Therapy. Even though my Testosterone levels are 3x higher than range (1800 ng/dl) it feels like I dont have testosterone in my body. It seems this drug damages something in the hormonal system. To add to this, before I started any treatment in 2019, I did a hormone profile and my Total T was on the upper end of the scale (756 ng/dl) and my DHT was on the top end as well. Its not a hormonal imbalance but I think a damage to the receptors. With 16 years I took accutane. Maybe that did a pre damage already making finasteride doing the final damage. We will never know because big pharma is not interested in curing people they messed up. Back then in 2005 there was very little information available. After experiencing terrible crippling side effect, I went off cold turkey of course.
    Edit: What I want to add, I react very severely to anything that influences DHT. Even taking a Zinc (5ar blocker) supplement gives me full blown PFS symptoms.

  • @nathanc3797
    @nathanc3797 6 месяцев назад

    Does the same apply to dutasteride? With the drug having such a long active half-life i would think cold turkey wouldn't make a difference since going back to baseline is a slow process. I took what i think may have been a a very large single dose and i didn't like the sides as compared to fin at all so i didn't take anymore of the drug. It's been 2 months since i stopped and i still have sides. I'm hoping this is just simply because the dose i took was very big and it may take longer than expected to go back to normal.

    • @hairtransplantinindia
      @hairtransplantinindia  6 месяцев назад

      Dutasteride blocks almost all of your DHT ! That is worrisome. I try not to prescribe this drug due to bad experiences with patients in the past.

    • @nathanc3797
      @nathanc3797 6 месяцев назад

      @@hairtransplantinindia yeah. I'm trying not to worry too much about it tho since i'm sure i'll be fine. I've been on finasteride on and off for a while with 0 issues. Sometimes cold turkey. I always recovered extremely fast tho this is just me.
      Definitely best to just have people stick to fin and cut back on dose and frequency to avoid sides, exorcise and stay healthy to produce natural to make up for the lost dht etc.
      I tried dutasteride topically semi-convinced only a small amount would actually penetrate the skin and hair papilla. But evidently it was a wrong assumption. The drug goes systemic and it was in a 0.3% concentration in a glycol solution which made the drug even more likely to penetrate. So most likely, i'll just have to wait as i'm sure my DHT is still largely suppressed.
      The studies iv'e seen seem to indicate there's a minimum of a 2-3 month wait for dht to return to baseline in doses over 0.5. I'll leave an update in about another month or 2.

    I left spirolactone and bicalutamide abruptly in the middle of the treatment while continuing dutasteride and oral minox and when I restarted them , hair fall is continuing since 3.5 months like 30,49,50, hairs per day! Have they stopped working? Has the efficacy of the medicines declined?.

    Thank you for your amazing video! I wish I knew the risks of starting this drug and the consequences of stopping it cold turkey.. but my derm did not inform me at all. She just said I’m crazy after I visited her to tell her that I have side effects. (Learned about them after experienceing them) I’m also a woman. I had sides on the fin, I had the crash, and now after a year or so I still have sexual problems. I don’t know really how to stop this. I went to so many docs but no one knows what to do to get better. And luckly or unfortunately.. I don’t know how to put this.. but I didn’t even need finasteride. I was already on an antiandrogenic birth control with cyproterone acetate and the only reason I was losing some hair was because I was anemic. My derm didn’t tell me to first look for deficiences and anemia.. now I’m taking iron and my hair stopped falling but I’m left with those life altering sides :(

    If you are on finasteride and doing fine. Stay on it. Don’t try to quit it. If you can’t stay on it for the gazillion side effects profile then lower the dose first, if that does not work, ween off it. Otherwise get ready to waste 1-2 years of your life or may be more.
    PS: depends how long you have been on it.

Will sunlight covered by winodow affects results. I was sleeping under this everyday i wakeup between 9 am - 10 am not longer than that.
    Secondly after the 6 th day of hair transplant i went to buy medicine at that time there was sunlight outside which is a bit strong. I can't park my car in front of medical shop so i Parked some distance away from the medical shop and i need to walk from there to medical shop. I weared a surgical cap and used an umbrella. I suddenly go to medical shop and comes back faster.
