Low-dose oral minoxidil is slowly becoming a mainstay in the therapeutic ladder pattern hair loss both in men and women. However in my practice, the first line remains topical Minoxidil due to its well-established safety and efficacy profile. My protocol is explained in detail in this video.

Hello, thank you very much for the informative video. I have been applying topical Minoxidil twice daily for about 3 weeks but would like to start oral minoxidil instead.l as I have psoriasis and seborrheic dermatitis on my scalp, treating with Ketoconazole 2%) therefore, would it be okay to start 2.5 mg of minoxidil daily instead or half, 1.25 mg daily for 3 months, perhaps? Thank you.
Very Well Structured Video sir. I Appreciate your efforts in educating people. Please clarify my doubt. Have you ever tried making minoxidil tablet as a powder and using it sublingually in your protocol? if Yes, did it gave good results. Thanks in advance.
Thank you so much for your time . I have been on Oral minoxidil 2.5 mg ( minoxytop) for 5 months . I have noticed major improvement ( in terms of number of hairs that I shed daily ) after the third month . After the 4th month , I noticed excessive daily hair shedding . Today I will increase the dose to 5 mg ( 2.5 BID )
Abdulrahman hi bro. I am about to order minoxytop from a reliable company in India. After I read your comment, I am convinced more than ever. But regarding your case, maybe it was a normal shedding which is due to Minoxidil ( hair cycle) . You should wait for a couple of weeks before you consider 5mg!!! Thanks
Increasing to 5 mg is a bad effect. You need to wait 1 years on 2.5 mg to see full results. Upping the dosage will get the results early, but your cardiovascular health is ruined. Remember Oral minoxidil works by wide wing your blood vessels and that’s SYSTEMIC meaning all over your body. It may be good now but you won’t be able to continue for long time. A simple two floor climbing and 1 minute continuous bending will make you with out of breath. You feel the side effects you just don’t notice it or neglect it. People who say they are not experiencing side effects are useless. Oral minoxidil’s side effect is hair growth, main effect plays role on your cardio and electrolytes level. People without enough knowledge are just upping the dosage to see hair growth. All will learn their lessons sooner or later.

Hello Doctor, my hair is so greasy that I have to wash it everyday. I tried topical min for about a month (twice daily) and stopped as it was making my hair greasy. So my doctor now prescribed me : 1) Minogain (1.25 mg a day) 2) Dutacet 0.5mg a day. But I am also concerned about the potential side effects and wondering if I can take topical min every night before going to sleep. So that I can wash my hair the next morning. Do you think this will work? Thank you

Hey Dr thank you for the video, great watch and loads of information so bless you for this. My question is the combination of Oral Minoxidil and other medications like Cialis 5mg daily and the complications this could cause? Would using topical have the same complications? Many thanks and god bless.
Thanks. Topical does not have any effect/complications since amount absorbed into blood stream is miniscule. If you are in good cardio health and your doctor approves of you taking OM, taking it with Cialis is just fine.
I was for a couple of months on 2.5mg of oral minoxidil, but I had elevated transaminases maybe due to it. I also had lower than usual leukocytes and platelets. I think the long term safety still remains to be established overall
Hi sir, what dose of oral minoxidil would you recommend for an adult male in his early twenties with aggressive hair loss, considering the side effects to benefits ratio? Is staying on 2.5 mg's the sweet spot or could I go upto 5 mg's? What's your recommendation sir?
@@hairtransplantinindia No sir, that's not my objective as i am already on finasteride to stabilize the progression, but my progression still is pretty agressive for age 24, so i'm switching to dutasteride. I want oral minoxidil for a boost like how you say it, and I just want to know if staying on 2.5 mg oral min is the safest bet considering long term, taking in accounts to the safety to benefit ratio? Or would going up to 5 mg's be good? What dose would you recommend for long term? Thank you.
Thank you so much for your highly informative video. I was prescribed 2.5 mg of oral minoxidil as a 37 year old female who cannot use tropical due to dermatitis. I also take 100 mg of spirinolactone. Does 2.5 mg seem too high for a female (5’9”, 140 lbs extremely active) re side effects? If so, what dosage makes sense? Thanks!
Great insights thank you doctor. Your last point, you mention stabilising the patient on Minoxidil and discontinuing Finasteride, is that correct or is that supposed to be the other way around? I find comfort knowing that I can stop the minox after 6 months or so and maintain the gains with finasteride. PS can I take this at night to reduce blood pressure drops during the day?
Oral Minoxidil with Finasteride when the hair loss due to androgenic alopecia is rapidly progressive. Minoxidil can be stopped once hair loss reduces when these medicines exert their effect. Minoxidil when taken orally is best consumed at night before bed time.

Hello Doctor. I'm from Indonesia. I want to ask a question, please be willing to answer in full. 1. Are all brands of oral minoxidil made from the same minoxidil? Or does each minoxidil brand have a different quality? 2. The use of topical minoxidil in men is as much as 5%, if converted to units of mg, how many mg is that? So that it can be equated with its use 2 times a day. 3. What is the working half-life of taking minoxidil 2.5 mg? And if I'm currently taking 2.5 mg of minoxidil orally, does it need to be taken 2 times a day morning and night? 4. For how long should I take 2.5 mg of minoxidil and then increase it to 5 mg? Please if you answer in full. Thank you doctor 🙏
@@hairtransplantinindia Wow. I am so impressed that you have answered my question in your special content on youtube. To be honest, I still have a lot of questions regarding the mysteries of DHT, baldness and minoxidil. 1. Is there a link between extreme itching in the head and DHT accumulation? Because I experienced that even though I didn't have dandruff at all. 2. Is dermaroler on the scalp useful for forming lost/shrinking hair follicles? 3. Can I replace my 1 mg finasteride consumption with 0.5 mg dutasteride every day? Because during the 5 months of using finasteride 1 mg, I didn't feel any change in my hair loss. Why did it happen? Is my DHT really too high that it can't be treated with just 1 mg of finasteride? And are there any major side effects if I take dutasteride 0.5 mg every day? 4. Please give an accurate answer, is it true that frequent masturbation in men can cause hair loss which leads to baldness? Or is it just a myth? If so, how does masturbation relate to baldness? I will be very grateful and happy if the doctor is willing to answer questions that I have been struggling with all this time. Please explain, thank you doctor 🙏

Thanks for informative videos .I m taking oral minoxidil 5 mg daily with oral finastride . Can I apply any oil or serum on scalp and which oil or serum is best for hairs ?
I'm using fin for almost 2 months now .. primary shedding phace completed befor 3 weeks .. nd very less hairfall now max 3-6 hairs .. before any medication i used to have 30-40 hairs per day or more !! I also started to use minoxidil for over a month now but noticed acne nd blisters on my temple nd hair also appears oily... I'm planning to start on 1.25 oral minoxidil along with 1 mg Finn on alternative days ..
The acne might have been caused due to repititive itching which led to infection. You could consider switching over to the foam formulation of minoxidil which has lower or no alcohol content. This could eradicate your skin problems. Talking about oral minoxidil, please remember to obtain a prescription from a doctor after he has checked your blood pressure and taken proper medical history.

Hello sir , I personally don’t suffer from baldness or hair loss from the scalp. But I have use foam minoxidil to grow facial hair(beard) and it worked perfectly till the point where I had side affects like acnes on many face and I had to stop. My question is can I use oral minoxidil to promote growth of my beard?
That will cause hair growth in other areas as well. But only if you are below 21 will it help. This medication is a prescription drug- do not take it casually.
Hello - thank you for a very informative video . May I ask your opinion of a relatively new product developed by dr Andy goren - it is for people who lack the sult1a1 enzyme and who do not respond to minoxidil . The product is available through Daniel Alain - and is to be applied before applying to minoxidil to help make the enzyme needed to process the minoxidil . I just started using it - other than a lot of shedding - it’s too soon to know . Would love your opinion . Thank you .
Hi sir ur video is very informational please tell me if person has good cardiovascular health then can that person use 2.5 mg oral minoxidil for life time
Oral minoxidil has to be prescribed by a doctor and it is best to get your BP checked beforehand. Hence, I would advise you to consult a doctor who can check your health and decide whether you can take it or not.
Hi Doc, Hopefully not too much of a personal question but I wanted to ask if you yourself had ever taken finasteride oral or topical and the same with minoxidil? Many thanks
Yes I have had 2 procedures for my grade 6. One FUT in 2007and FUE in 2012. I am on Finastride to stop progression but since it is stabilising now I will stop it very soon
Dr. Bhatti, do you know if 5% Topical Foam Minoxidil is effective if used every other day (Once every 48 hours)??? Thank you in Advance if you are able to answer.
Hello Doctor. Just curious to why you may or may not use minoxidil or fermasteride? I’ve noticed your hairline has receded (which gives off a look of intellect) but have you not attempted to use these products you prescribe? Are you comfortable with the natural progression of hair loss? I have debated whether I’d like to get treatment to hold onto my hair or just allow nature to take its course. Thank you.
Thanks for this question but I have answered this a 100 times over! I have had one failed FUT procedure in 2007 and a second procedure using FUE . Now due to the first proceudre I have run out of grafts. I do use Oral Finasteride 0.5 mg on alternate days but not Minoxidil. At 58 I do not mind some recession and thinning at all.

Hi Doctor, if you have low sulfotransferase enzymatic activity, does Oral Minoxidil work? I know that topical wouldn't work, but not sure if Oral would overcome that issue? I was tested for my sulfotransferase enzymatic activity levels and it came back confirming I would be a non-responder for topical minoxidil, so I'm hoping Oral minoxidil will overcome that issue. I would really appreciate your feedback on this.
Ofcourse oral will work because as far as I've heard the body will convert it to minoxidil sulfate unlike a scalp with no activity of sulfotransferase. It has been a year though, how has your journey been?
Hi Sir, I had a question, I am not sure if this will reach you given the video was published 2 years ago. I want to know if the efficacy of minoxidil decreases with time? For eg: I read somewhere that a person who was a great responder to minoxidil lost all the hair gained from the medication 2.5 years later. Do you have any patients to whom you prescribed this medication and is still going strong in 2+ years time frame?
That is not true. Minoxidil will never stop progression of baldness. The course of baldness will continue with Minoxidil. The function of Minoxidil is to keep your hair thick. To stop progression is the function of Finasteride.

Today I will increase the dose to 5 mg ( 2.5 BID )
Thanks for sharing your precious experience with this community.

Hello Sir Very nicely explained. I got oily and itch and painful scalp on applying topical minoxidil. 1.Should I use the aqua form of topical minoxidil or oral 2.5 ?
2. Should oral minoxidil trigger migraine as I have migraine since 10 years? Please answer 🙏

Hi sir thank for the valuable information
I had a hair transplant 3 months back my age is 30
And my donor area still looks patchy and visible
My doctor said as your hair in donor area is thin that’s why it is visible and said there is no shock loss
I’m using 5% minoxidil and finastride tropical solution and 1 mg finastride oral tablet
Is it good to use oral minoxidil instead of tropical solution to get good density in donor hair
If you had diffuse pattern alopecia you were not a candidate in the first place. Ask your doctor if that was the diagnosis.
Thank you
Yes that is the best way to apply Minoxidil at night and wash off in the morning
I am a 66 year old female. I have had hair loss for over 40 years. I have been using topical 5% minoxidil for approximately 40 years. I started on oral minoxidil 2.5 mg recently and I have been having amazing results. Seriously amazing results. My part is very tight anywhere I part it on the top of my head. That has been unheard of for me. The top of my head always looked like a sparse forest, and going out in the sun, you could see my whole scalp. It was devastating. There's so much more to my story, but I'm a believer in oral minoxidil.
Would you please do a video talk with me to benefit the community. Coming from a hair loss sufferer is first hand experience.
I appreciate you work you have done such a good job making a good video on this topic
Tnx for uploading such an amazing vidio??!!
Thanks for the encouragement. Hugely appreciated.
I was for a couple of months on 2.5mg of oral minoxidil, but I had elevated transaminases maybe due to it. I also had lower than usual leukocytes and platelets. I think the long term safety still remains to be established overall
I agree. It has not been in use for any indication for a significant period of time and hence has to be prescribed only occasionally.
What tests do you need to measure those things?

Hi sir, what dose of oral minoxidil would you recommend for an adult male in his early twenties with aggressive hair loss, considering the side effects to benefits ratio? Is staying on 2.5 mg's the sweet spot or could I go upto 5 mg's? What's your recommendation sir?
Oral Minoxidil will not stop progression if that is your objective.
Thank you.
You Can go up to 5 mg under supervision of your doctor if you are healthy enough for that dose.@@Damien773

Thanks!
many women take 2.5 mg according to what the doctor feels is right for them. He/she will know your condition best.

4. For how long should I take 2.5 mg of
minoxidil and then increase it to 5 mg?

Im taking finast with both topical and oral , will i increase my chance of hair growth combining both forms of minoxidil? I have a transplant booked in 2 months and norwood 5

You will need tests and in person consultation before starting.
Being on Topical Minoxodil for 2 years and oral Fenasteride for 4 months, if I am planning to start taking Oral Minoxodil by 1.25 mg a day, how long after taking this dose should I increase the dosage? In other words, what are the signs that tell me that I need to up the dosage after being on low dose?
This is not what you can do without a doctor's assessment.
Hi doctor, could you please guide how to stop taking oral minoxidil without loosing all the progress in hair growth in female patern hairloss. Currently taking oral 2mg minoxidil with spironolactone. I have been experiencing side effects from minoxidil and don't want to risk having heart issues.
What does your MD Physician say about your cardiovascular health?
@@hairtransplantinindia I was told the chest pain and palpitations and rapid heart beat are not from the monoxidil
@@swatipai168 Agree health is more important than hair. You can stop it if you wish to. hair will surely fall off, if maintained through oral Minoxidil.
Hi ow much thicker can head hair get taking 10mg oral minoxidil?????
Thanks for watching and commenting on my video. There is not much use of exceeding dosage. 10 mg can be very dangerous.
Hey doc, can you consider making a video on the use of robotics (ex: ARTAS) for the extraction process? Have they come a long way since first introduced? Is there a particular reason why you have yet to incorporate it into your practice?
I cannot comment on ARTAS since t is trademarked. However robotic hair transplant never took off. many machines are lying vacant. Several adverts can be googled where clinics want to dispose it off. Also this aside, will you pay USD 8 per graft?
@@hairtransplantinindia That would explain why I see more and more robotic hair transplants being available at new clinics. I would never pay $8 USD/graft. I have seen clinics offering it for much less.
@@KingRockets Robotics never took off in this field because it is a 100% skill based speciality.
