Ronnie Lane always seems like a such a sweet person, just a kind soul. Hard to tell with celebrities but I always get a warm feeling when he’s performing. Shame what the music industry did to him and the other members of Small Faces.
check out Kenney Jones' autobiography for some background on Ronnie. There was more to him than that public persona. Poor Ronnie always did draw the short straw. Fuck MS.
Ronnie Lane was awesome on the guitar. As he plays the guitar you can see the feeling of happiness going through him into his fingers and onto that guitar. He just felt happy and I think that was his true intention. To make others happy by playing and singing his beautiful music.😢 Gone too soon!!
You have a great sense of humor. Thanks I needed that. Ronnie Wood went on to become quite good but this is laughable. I was at college with him....Ealing College of art.....Graphics. He was a great guy but not a great musician until years later. Not even Ronnie would say he was great here...at all.
Wouldn't you just loved to have been in a proper band like this - so much talent and having so much fun. Wine, women and song - and then more wine.............. and beer!
@@dellafenton2417 My gosh, dont you know it? Small Faces was incredible. I wish Steve could have hung in there and built upon what they started. Much more talented than Rod and the Small Faces were mates after all. But bad management ripped them off and made them sing pop songs they despised. RIP Ronnie, Steve and Ian.
Richmond is one of my favorite songs - sublime [yup. Pulling no punches here] duet of equally wistful lyrics & melody.... One & two syllable words, authentic simple and straightforward - even that single jewel of a metaphor.... ending with one of the best declarations of love by any man Ever.
Nice song. Great vocal. "Ogden Nut Flake Gone" - from Ronnie's Small Faces days - has some wonderful tracks with Ronnie on vocals like "Long Agos and Worlds Apart", "The Hungry Intruder" (beautiful) and "Song of the Baker." That album has creeped into my top ten list (OK, not quite "Sgt. Pepper" level but has it own magic); and is more proof of how underrated Ronnie Lane really was; as a singer and co-songwriter. For a brief time, the Small Faces were going head-to-head with The Beatles for great psychedelic music. However, the band was doomed unfortunately. Its one of those bad management and drug stories.
I think Ronnie was the real genius behind both the Small Faces and the Faces but never got the recognition he deserved. Steve Marriot and Rod were both talented front men but Ronnie had the creativity.
@@desy2478 Not to knock Ronnie's creativity. But you're wrong about Marriot. His stamp is all over The Small Faces & went on as the main creative force in Humble Pie. He wrote & sang most of both of those bands biggest hits. The collaboration between Stewart & Wood is legendary. Consider the hits after they joined & Rods solo work which includes Wood.
@@peach495 I'm just saying I think Ronnie Lane was the main creative force in both of those bands. I'm not knocking Marriot I'm a massive fan of him too. I'm not necessarily wrong either I just have a differing opinion to you. Lane wasn't the one that tried to introduce Frampton to the Small Faces resulting in the break up of the band and I don't think Humble Pie could hold a candle to what The Small Faces created. Rod Stewart was a good front man but ultimately used the fame and talent of those around him to launch his own solo career.
@@desy2478 Yea maybe you're right. Lane having only written only 1 or 2 songs on each album & none of them hits. While every hit throughout the entire Faces catalog were written by Wood AND Stewert, Clearly Lane is the driving force & Stewert is only the front man. Hahahahaha.
Typical Faces, bog paper being chucked about, probably from Woody's toilet seat guitar. But seriously, a class act, and one of the finest Rock n Roll bands on 10 legs.
@@castanzes Have to disagree.Ever seen old footage of Faces?Lane is always up in front and in Rod's face.Just look at cover of Nod as good as a wink.Theres Lane, face in Rods ear. Then in June of 73 he gets so jealous of Stewart he quits at the bands height.Slim Chance-That was certainly a prophet ic name for Lanes '74 band.I remember whenhe was real sick but still got on stage with a chair looking pathetic. If it was not for Stewart and Wood Faces would have collapsed in 1969.McLagen was the only other great member.Anyone could have replaced Lane or Jones. Those 2 could hold the beat which was all that they needed to do anyway.
Great how Ronnie Lane always smiles and looks like he really enjoys playing with music with friends and performing for people. The soul of the Faces :)
In memory of Ronnie Lane. Born 75 years ago today. Forever peace Plonk 💕
Just dove into Ronnie lane and had no idea how brilliant he was. What an amazing talent .
He was the guy that was always there but you didn't know it
How Come?
Proof of how greatly UK musicians were heavily inspired by the old-time Mississippi Delta Blues!

Me too better times when we was young

I really don't understand it when people say Ronnie Wood is not a great guitar player. He has such great feel. 'Adds so much soul to a song.
He's the guitar player on a around 30 or so Iconic classic platinum selling rock songs. You couldn't achieve that by being a mediocre guitar player.
Ron Wood is no Mick Taylor or Brian Jones. Still a good guitar player
Woodie is good enough for me.
Who says Ronnie is not a great guitar player !? 🤣

This song takes me WAY back to a time and a place long gone and cherished.

RIP Ronnie Lane. This was The Faces at their best, and Roderick Stewart at his best too.
What a great band the Faces were. Ronnie Lane was a talented soul. Wonderful song, thanks for posting.
Agree
So underrated. They had the appropriate swagger and chops, but the break went elsewhere.
Great tune, great band.
@@philipetheridge3551 I like The Faces, especially their early stuff. But the real deal was The Small Faces...

Their excellence brings tears to my eyes
Look at the looks on their Faces, they knew they nailed it.
Just discovered this band...outstanding!
It's really good to see the two Ronnies enjoying playing together.
Drop Dead Gorgeous!!!!🕶️🎼👁️☕🍇 Exquisite! R.I.P. Ronnie and Mac!
Always a nice man.
And a good musician!
Very cool 👍 Never seen this before. Faces was a great & talented band. Ronnie's voice here sounds a lot like George Harrison
I agree, I always thought they must be related somehow
He does...wow! Probably playing together right now ❤
Beautiful.
I wish..I wish they’d still made music like Ronnie Lane and his mates did..slim chance prob, best music era anyhow❤💯❤️
I loved this band! And still do!
Brilliant Thank you.

Good music. Many great bands in the 60s and 70s
Miss you Ronnie....
Digging the Roy Budd in the background!
Ronnie and Ian, you are missed!
The best pound for pound blood n guts rock n roll band EVER....RIP Plonk and MAC.
This Band was so Cool!!
Most sweetest song in the world🍉
Awesome. Thank you. 💗
whoever posted this is a genius. thank you
Awsome guitar playing .
Ron Wood's slide guitar is really cool... Didin't know Rod plays an upright bass... he's super cool :)
Lol. He's just leaning on it. ;)
Christ, that was brilliant. I'm sure that was live.....felt like all of them twigged on that track.
Excellent
Glad this clip survived!!🙏🏻🙏🏻👏👏
Great!!!! man!!!!Ronnie Lane
Great quality video. Very cool. Thanks for posting.
I never knew totps had ,an album slot. Shame they didnt continue it. A great chance to air some non single tracks.
Great song, Ronnie Lane was one hell of a talent.
Laugh people in the studio trying to dance to this Song!
They were one of the greatest rock bands eve
God Bless Plonk!
Thank you Ronnie for his music .
He will always live among us all who appreciates his music. RIP
That's pretty good!
Fantastic
This ia amazing. What a great snapshot of an artist (Ronnie Lane) who doen't give a care about what's popular. Follow your muse....
Now I know what the distinctive riff in Sheryl Crow's "All I Wanna Do" was probably influenced by.
Just thinking the same thing. ..
Wood and Lane seem to like playing together a lot.
I always thought Ronnie Lane and George Harrison shared the same voice.
You go Plunk, great to see you in the lead.
Brilliant

I wonder who the 10 musical dopes that gave this completely brilliant performance are?
Rod, Ron and Ronnie, what a beautiful trio :)
Ah not Rod
I think Rod is on the upright bass or the doghouse as they say.@@bethh.9647

Ronnie Lane the most talented of the faces

How kind of them to let him sing ;)
You know it was Ronnie's band don't you? He formed it with Steve Marriott, then when he left, recruited Ron Wood and Rod Stewart to replace him.
Lol at totp audience dancing away....
Nice 👍👍 Too bad Wood didn't join the Stones in 69 . 😎
Is Rod playing upright bass?
Rod is holding an upright bass. Bit of window dressing wot?
Took me a minute to notice 😂
Pretending to. ;)
I've seen Rod play guitar and banjo, I think most singers LEARN to play well enough to accompany themselves and for writing.
Hugh Terry no. He’s really playing it.
Paul wanted to look like him and George wanted to sound like him because I know it ain't the other way around!
And the New number one was ,......Dave & Ansell Collins - Double Barrel
