Saw them in Leeds UK 1974 - we had to petition (via NME) for Tetsu to be granted a work permit to tour in the UK - the greatest 'good time' band of all time
Ron Wood got the best chunky guitar sound back then. Saw them at Cobo Hall in Detroit that year - incredible concert! Can we just go back to the 70's please?!
Go ahead and insist that these guys weren't the greatest rock and roll band in the world. It's nearly impossible to sound this loose while being this tight.
Rod Stewart has always been number one to me .Ive been hooked since 1972 when I was four years old and saw him on a variety show ( I was supposed to be in bed) I snuck to my Aunts doorway in her bedroom .I just stared in amazement! I’ve been amazed ever since! I also adore the friendship of Rod and Ronnie ! They both have given us so much to jam out on .
Love seeing Ronnie with Rod, the white speakers, the windy summer afternoon, the design of the drums, the 70' atmosphere and the cover of the great Stones song. Someone said that Ronnie played better with the Faces than with the Stones, I do not think so. He was simply more important for the Faces. Fantastic document.
Good to see Tetsu Yamauchi on bass. He played with Free before. Remember the Yamauchi affair with the English Musics Union when he plays with Faces without work license? Ahhhh good old rocking days.☮️😎🎸Greetings from Barcelona 🙏♥️
1st was the small faces. An excellent band. They broke up. And rod stewart and the faces finished off the group. Ron wood ( stones) kenny jones joined the who,for a while. I was a dj in detroit radio. On of the worlds top 5 bands in the 1970's😂
The first time I saw them, they opened with "You're My Girl" from Gasoline Alley; 1971, Public Hall, Cleveland, Ohio. Deep Purple opened for Faces. I saw the Faces and Rod's various bands 14 times.
Great footage!! Rare to see Tetsu jamming full on with the lads. He never quite fit, but it still didnt stop the Faces from being the best live R&R show in the world in those heady days! Saw them many times but never outdoors in the sun. A different vibe entirely from the boozy singalong football crowds in a club or theatre. Thats when the band were st their best.
Even the vibe in clubs and theatres isn`t as good as it used to be since they started putting security barriers in front of stages...The audience is nowhere near the near the band anymore...Just like it was before Punk Rock.
My favourite band in the 70s, but never the same without Ronnie Lane. I met Ian McLagan shortly before he sadly died, he and plonk remained close till plonk died. Great characters, fantastic band.

Two years earlier ('72) in Las Vegas, Faces appeared outside at the LV Stadium. Brand new facility, but maybe the worst conditions that day for hearing music. First, the stadium sits in the eastern part of the valley, which is the lowest, so in the summer, which is when this concert took place, it was a zillion degrees. On top of that, the wind was howling- it was like a blast furnace. Too bad, because Faces then, (original band) were an incredible live act, especially in a smaller venue.
My third favorite band (after The Beatles & The Plastic Ono Band). I saw this tour, and the next & was sorry Ronnie Lane was no longer with them. Funny thing about Faces is half the time during live performances it felt like they were weren't quite sure where to end the song. Made it that much more fun.
Lynard Skynyrd had more hits in a short 7 years than any other band ever had, then the lead singer died in plane crash ended it.. and they sounded a lot better Live!
I'll be damned! If this isn't live at Dillon stadium, Hartford CT. I'll bet good money. Maybe not I saw them in Hartford and New Haven. A couple times. 65 now. Memory may not be sharp. But opening shot looks just like Hartford in summer time
Yup..that's what we looked like in 1974 at a Rock Concert. Smokin', tokening, rolling and rockin'. The bands always dressed pretty cool. We were still wearing plaid pearl button snap shirts and two tone platform shoes or square toes cowboy boots or "shit kickers" (black steel toe boots).
