I flew into Meridian, MS that day. After landing I listened to the end of the game on my transistor. Funny how you remember things - confirmation it was hot that day.
I'm sure the stadium's location made no difference in the heat index. Whether in Jackson or in Oxford, the game was played in dangerous and oppressive heat & humidity. Lucky that nobody from the northern school, Notre Dame, suffered from heat stroke and died. I'm surprised that there was zero commentary on the UNSPORTSMANLIKE maneuvering by Ole Miss to move the game up to a noon kickoff instead of the previously promised/agreed to nighttime game. So much for the renowned Southern "hospitality," Southern "gentlemanly conduct," and Southern "honor."
@@sylvesterpalermo937 What a ridiculous comment -- on multiple fronts: 1. How about some proper perspective and proportionality ... A football game between collegians is NOT war -- let alone a war for the life of a Nation; 2. Sherman gave the Confederate REBELS the opportunity to lay down their arms -- neither they nor the Confederate Government gave up their REBELLION; 3. It's Southerners who always boast about their "hospitality," "gentlemanly conduct," and "honor" ... not sure that Sherman ever boasted about those traits for himself; 4. Even Sherman DIDN'T BREAK HIS WORD/RENEGE on a COMMITMENT ... yet the "fine gents" of Ole Miss certainly did. Integrity and honor out the window to secure a last-second unfair advantage. Classy.
I was in the 7th grade that season and I remember it like it was yesterday. Remember, if Montana doesn’t finally get put in the Purdue game in the 2nd half, they lose and have no shot at the National Championship because they already lost at Ole Miss the previous week!
which idiot decided to put poison in our children with the pain of the needles? Speak .now of course I know you guys decided on that and with recycling efforts and burning all medical needles , let’s hope for a miracle and we can quit cold turkey and watch the Cleveland browns game , taylor at red lobster 😊 who would put needles in a landfill then call someone that’s has an addiction to illegal drugs weak, you guys-me, that’s is hilarious , cam are you watching 😂

You are correct. Was there too. Wasn't a pleasant flight back!

@@wingedbuffalo4670 I suppose they learned hospitality, conduct and honor from General Sherman some years earlier.
