Kreia Messes With Canderous' Head

  • Before Canderous as the new Mandalore gets ready to take the Exile to Onderon to find Master Kavar, Kreia comes in and manipulates his mind and reveals that she knows all about him and that she can read his mind. She also vaguely speaks of Revan and how he abandoned Canderous on the outer rim before he set off to unknown parts of space. All Kreia wants is to ensure that Canderous will do all he can to help protect the Exile and how important he is to her.

Canderous is actually quite interesting, think about this. He fought in the mandalorian wars, he accompanied the man who beat him in the wars and saved the republic, he reunited much of the clans, he traveled with the exile (on the same ship), he encountered the Yuzang vong, and his mandalorian race was the one copied over and over for the defence of the republic against the CIS. Kreia mentioned she is no leader, that her voice does not move others to follow. It does, but unwillingly. She knows how to appeal to Canderous' vice, his pride, and to his virtue, his loyalty (to Revan and the Mandalorians). Yet at the same time she ridicules that pride, citing the possible futility of it all.
So when she tries to appeal to the two main arguments, his people's legacy and his kinship to the Exile, they fall flat.
She constructed her argument appealing to a desperate need for honor, but at that point Canderous' mind was motivated by the resurgent tenacity of his command. So when she tries to shatter and rebuild him (a very Sith thing), not only does it not work but it makes apparent what she tried to do. She didn't know how to read her public and only managed to retain his loyalty through "placing a bounty" on the information she has.

From the first line, it rings in my head how Arren Kae fought droves of Mandalorians in the War, and bested them. What does she have to fear?
I like to imagine, however, that what she didn't do was participate in the last battle, at Malachor. Given that she is alive currently. Though she speaks of the battle in a familiar tone. Intellectuals such as her might have grown over butchering Mandalorians or such goals as saving the Republic. Why wouldn't she, for example, fake her own death, then go on a search for the full potential of the Force? And eventually she trains Sion and Nihilus, now well into her Sith teaching, who we know were in the armies at Malachor, when Meetra opened the force wound

No, that's wrong. Traya didn't blame neither the Sith nor the Jedi. She blamed the Force. Traya envisioned a galaxy that would choose not to acquiesce to the will of the Force. When she heard about the Jedi Exile, she knew that life could exist without the Force.
Ultimately, though, she dreamed of a galaxy lacking of the Force altogether, as it was her belief that the galaxy would be better off that way
