This was really dark for something that stemmed from jealousy. Aside from admiring certain things about Meetra, Mical really wasn’t romantically interested in her and Atton was too blind to see that. Also, his voice becomes eerily deadpan as he falls further under Kreia’s control, like he’s not even falling to the dark side but instead going into depression.
He was a perfect 3rd apprentice Sith for Kreia, nothing left for him but pain like Sion, and a hunger to prey on Jedi like Nihilus. When he's a light-sided ally for the Exile his "fool" character is just empty of depth and ridiculous
@@wolfpack95805 if the sith triumvirate were analogues of the extremes that sith can be if they focus entirely on a single aspect of their descent to the dark side (sion pain, nihilus hunger, traya betrayal), atton's dark descent focus could be the void grown from the grief and depression he continues to display under kreia's prodding

And then DV seduces us into thinking that I must not be interacted with. I think it was a 'i respect you now' kind of manipulation by her, sinse she always calls him the fool, perhaps it's her way of calling him not foolish in what he's doing

You know Atton isn't his real name as early as Telos academy after being caged by Atris. the way "Kreia" (not her real name either) says his name there, after putting him to sleep tells you that it is not his real name. she puts weight into it when she says it after invading his mind in the cage, "Do not worry, ATTON, If she is a Jedi, she will forgive and if she is not, she will not care". I wonder if his name is an anagram or something else.
Bioware, be it under Microsoft or EA just have the unfortunate tendency to savage great games for crunch time. They wanted the game out for Christmas delivery so bad that Obsidian had no choice to put it out with it's holes. Still among one of the greatest RPGs ever.
@@sixela788 The blame as I've understood it was bioware but either one or both really. I just know Obsidian wasn't given the time they needed which is an unfortunate reoccurring theme for them.

LucasArts (the publisher) rushed the development because they wanted that $$$ which is why so much was missing when it launched. This was a 100% a LucasArts fuck up, really their first step towards their eventual downfall (as they would pull this same move on their next big sequel project, The Force Unleashed 2)

It's not about DS vs LS, it's about influence and also I think how you react to the reality that Atton killed Jedi. You can totally be Lightside and still refuse to forgive him for these acts. Jedi aren't perfect.
This game blows my fucking mind. I've been playing it since it was released and almost 20 years later I'm still discovering new cut scenes and dialogue options
I played this game constantly as a kid, going over so many routes, it being a buggy unfinished mess never bothered me that much; I didnt know Atton could be a jedi/sith though O-o that final line is amazingly well done
Visas is the hardest for me to lose influence with Atton I've made him a jedi multiple times with low influence but I think RCM always makes the companions choose your alignment.
I don't think I ever intentionally lowered companions influence. I've played this game a dozen times each light side and dark side, but I always tried to keep my companions on my side.
Jedi fear attachment, not emotion. Which was Atton's problem here. It's okay to love someone, but when it was clear the Exile didn't love him back, he should've learned to let go of his love for her

First of all thanks for sharing these rare cut scenes, as most players would always go for more influence, rather than lowering it. Just to make sure to understand your very first statement: If you loose enough influence on a crew member, you can still have success e.g. for their training and making them Jedi/Sith? Or why would Atton have a lightsaber in the very last scene?

Maybe it's just me and maybe I'm being an asshole, but this paints Atton in a very bad way. He is honestly one of the more impressive on the ship, when these jealousy games aren't going around
Yeah, these moments serve to show Kreia's skill at manipulation more than anything. Same level as Palpatine's manipulation of Anakin. Always did think those two were very similar in that regard.
Those two are more calm. Mical won't get jealous of Atton because he respects her choices so long as he feels they won't harm her. And Visas won't get jealous of Briana because she fears what might happens if he gets too attached to her.
As someone who is an Empire/Star Wars The Old Republic fanatic, I love this dark Atton. And yes, he's totally right when he says you get a taste for killing Jedi. :P
I haven’t played that version yet, but I think it might just be a cut scene. Because the screen always goes to black after they finish talking before the fight starts. I could be wrong though.

Even on the Dark Side run and still he told off Kreia instead of went with her to Malachor. That's because influence will determine his fate.
