  • The 2024 Razer Blade 18 might be the largest Blade you can get, but compared to the competition with the same screen it still remains the most compact one, making it a lot more portable and flexible than its direct competitors.
    And with Thunderbolt 5, and an amazing 300Hz MiniLED display, the refresh offers a lot more than just a spec refresh.

    Important to note, which is never mentioned in reviews, is that non US layout keyboards (like British or German layouts) on the Blades dont have secondary functions illuminated. Makes it impossible to work with in darker environments.

      @@NotebookcheckReviews yeah for sure. I have noticed all reviewers always get US layouts from razer so the problem is never mentioned. When you are spending thousands on a premium machine you expect to have a proper lit up keyboard. Brands that cost half the price can do it so razer has no excuse other than being too lazy to fix it in my opinion

    I just received my Blade 18 2024 last week. Really impressed so far. One thing is a bit strange, when you enable local dimming without HDR enabled in Windows colors, blacks and highlights look washed out and are a bit dimm. Without local dimming the colors and highlights "pop" but without the dark blacks. Is this normal a might that be a bug? With HDR and local dimming enabled the display is insane in games, but looks oversaturated in Windows. Greetings from Hamburg :)

    so far i observed that all larger blade's gpus seem to struggle getting past 150w in most scenarios contrary to its competition. This would make sense on small 14" but why implement this cap on such desktop replacements ? isn't max performance along with large display what makes them attractive?

    • @cutthat4643

      I'll take that for better thermals and fan noise and 130w-150w is still very fast

    • @NotebookcheckReviews
      @NotebookcheckReviews  2 месяца назад +1

      From our testing it seems more like trying to juggle between CPU and GPU power draw.
      For example in heavily GPU bound games (Alan Wake II) for example it will easily go beyond 150W, which is also why it is very competitive in this game.
      As soon as the CPU is needed aswell, you will get lower wattages on the GPU, which is why it falls behind in those titles.
      In Furmark it easily manages the full 175W for the RTX 4090, its just combined loads, where the larger competitors are doing quite a bit better!

      @@meal_team_six complete opposite experience here, never once regretted switching any device from IPS to OLED. I have a OLED phone, monitor, laptop, TV, switch, steam deck, and hopefully iPad in a few days… even if the peak brightness tends to be a bit lower then high end IPS they just look better IMO. The deep blacks just make everything more contrasty. Plus have had exactly 0 issues with burn in, even on my OLED monitor that I use a fair amount for productivity stuff, think the whole thing is overblown unless u use it for productivity 8 hours a day

      The majority of people do not want Glossy laptop screens in the real world. No one likes massive amounts of glare when trying to use a laptop with bright lights or sunlight shining. Only online do a small minority of loud voices complain about Matte screens.

      @@TechnicolorTube still a matte panel looks like a massive pile of shit compared to a glossy one, espcially a micro LED or OLED screen. And what kind of gamer plays in direct sunlight lol

      The screen is significantly better on the Macbook. I own both. The Blade looks washed out and grainy in comparison.

    • @NotebookcheckReviews
      @NotebookcheckReviews  2 месяца назад +2

      What makes it better? First off, you can't get a MacBook in this screen size. You can't game on it. Some content creation workflows require Nvidia GPU, and you can not even calibrate the screen properly. I am not saying that MacBooks are bad, I just think that this: "if it's that expensive, i can also get a MacBook" argument makes any sense.
