the way my chest/back wanted to keep straight on its own after this class, 10/10

Wow, this was intense! More yoga for people who sit all day long in their jobs, please! My poor upper back, neck, shoulders....hips...
After a decade of daily yoga practice and nearly daily dancing, I returned to a work-intensive lifestyle as a seated crafter using my hands and sadly, hunching - as my work demands, for 7 hours a day. This 2 year old gem from Charlie popped up and I was blessed with a small miracle. 🙏🏼 This opened my shoulders and awakened my side body, got a lot of crunchy neck, shoulder, and wrist kinks worked out as well. Charlie, you are the most potent body medicine available. Namasté.
I came here to fix my shoulders and back, but wow, those hip stretches were just what I needed after sitting down all day.

Charlie! I have a question. You know when we were in low lunge and you had us put one arm over head and one reaches around our back and we try to clasp them? I have NEVER in my life even come close to clasping them, like they are WORLDS apart lol why is that? Is it tight shoulders?
Hello I know exactly what you mean, that's called cow face pose arms. There are a couple of things at play here. We recruit muscles around the shoulder, upper back and chest to come into this position so it could be a combination of these muscles being tight that makes it challenging to bring the hands together. Some poses that help with this are puppy pose to open the chest and shoulders, prayers hands behind your back (if this isn't accessible, it isn't for me, I opt for holding onto my forearms behind my back) and eagle arms to open the upper back and strengthen the pectoral muscles. I hope this helps, let me know if anything was unclear.
