- When it comes to a brush with a giant whale, it doesn’t get closer-or cooler-than this paddleboarder’s experience. Said the photographer who shot the drone footage: ‘It’s like the whale was trying to get the attention of the person, just like a puppy does when it wants you to play with it. The only difference is that this puppy is bigger, duh.’

At least one good thing came out of giving every single person a camera. We have gotten so many amazing videos of this kind of stuff we would have never believed to have existed. Amazing!

How the whale gave the paddleboarder a tiny little push so gentle, as if to say "come on let's play" I could have watched this for hours mesmerizing!!!!

@@LRAinCA @Elishia Mata Her/She. It was a female paddle boarder. And no, don't pet them. They are gentle and playful, but don't know their own strength and the danger -- when they may drag you under, not knowing that you can't hold your breath for 15 minutes. They're just playing. Never offer them a limb or a paddle.
This encounter is so amazing. I would have been sitting there awestruck I think. It has to be scary when something that large is that close to you. It really makes you understand how small humans are. Amazing.
Now THIS is a cool encounter. Well done to the boarder keeping calm and not trying to touch the whale!
Note to self - Remember to wear the brown swim trunks incase you come across a whale while paddle boarding.
What a beautiful and truly awesome moment! And such a wonderful creature… it is appalling the way mankind has treated these animals, almost to extinction.
That would be so incredible to have a whale hanging out with you. Being curious. I can't imagine how massive they must be when seeing them in real life. Looks like it's saying hi 1:52. Absolutely incredible.

Her interview, if you can find it, will bring a tear to your eyes. Her buddy couldn't get any good photos, they said. Then one of them said, "There's a drone," and she also stated that she didn't feel fear, and that it was her birthday!

Seeing how gently the whale is acting (playing?) it must be aware of the difference in strength between itself and the guy on the grid board.

When I was a kid in the early 70’s, I saw footage of whales and thought these look nothing like the pictures of whales (that appear in kids’ media.) They might as well have been magical creatures as I was unprepared to be so awestruck.
So cute their as intrested in humans as we are them hes like pet me pet me

The whales of tge world migrate North to South at the same time of year. Never crossing the equator, never meeting.
The northern right whale was hunted to extinction along the eastern seaboard, like the passenger pigeon and nearly the bison.

here in UK is forbidden to get this close to these animals or even attempt to touch them because the laws states that they are royal fishes property of the queen.
