Accommodating resistance for squats is a popular tool that lifters and athlete will improve their squat strength and power capabilities.
If you're new to using chains and bands for squats, then it's a good idea to familiarize yourself with what accommodating resistance is first to fully understand the "why" and "when" behind chains versus bands.
In this chains versus bands for squats guide, we'll discuss everything you need to know when using these forms of accommodating resistance.

If you're newer to using accommodating resistance for your squats, then I'd suggest starting with chains.
Chains can be a little more beginner-friendly and the stability demands they create won't be as high as using bands for squats.
If you've never used chains and bands for squats, buckle up because you're in for a ride. They're some of the most fun tools you can use to progress squats, in my opinion.

This is one of the best videos Ive seen for chains vs bands. Solid
Appreciate you checking it out 🤝
Question A. How do I attach the blue straps to the barbell and then to the chain, and do the blue straps come with a collar to keep the straps secure to the barbell with the 45 pound plates??
Great video! I liked that you started with the advantages of chains/bands in addition to weights. The programming tips are very straightforward. A very thorough and inspiring video, thank you!
Thank you, brother! I appreciate you checking this one out and sharing feedback 🤝
EXCELLENT, tyvm
Glad it helped 🤝
Question B. How many straps would you link together to attach to the barbell and then to the chains??
pretty cool!
Thank you!
Yo, the camera quality on this leveled up!
Working on it!
@@thatfitfriend gainz are gainz! 💪🏾
Where can I buy this setup from?
Like the rack?
The whole chain set up with the blue straps.
@@jerezwalton3806 I’ll text Beau tomorrow and ask him what they use for the gym! Stay tuned
Thank you for going out of your way to help me.
Not supposed to lose tension at the bottom of the banded squat. Matt Wenning would 💩 if he saw that lol
What if there might be more than one way to skin the cat and coach different concepts 🤷🏼♂️
But I hear ya, if that’s how you’ve learned and like to program/perform then proceed. Beau has his methods and rationale as most coaches do.
@@thatfitfriend I get it but you still should never lose band tension.
@@michaelderenne9838 Think a lot comes down to intent/load being used, tbh. You also have to consider the pop being trained and their eccentric overload capabilities and the goals of the bands. This list can go on
Again, differences in programming styles...we can agree to disagree for certain training contexts. I would never say "never" regarding programming, honestly. Too much nuance out there for definitives.
@@thatfitfriend Sure thing love the content. We can agree to disagree lol. Love the channel
@@michaelderenne9838 appreciate the discourse and conversation here and thank you!
I should try to link with Matt down the road and see if he’d want to collab, think that could be some cool content!
