Guide Number Four: The Royal Navy's Derp-faced Strike Fighter
So life is busy even though school is out, espeically with the new patch and stuff... but here it is, one of my favorite strike fighters in the game.
Just so you guys know, I don't plan on shoving these things out weekly, I get to the next one as I go along, quality memes is best memes.

Reminds me of a video from WarThunder's official channel where they said that if you are a land based aircraft and need to land on a carrier, a good tactic is too use your nose to stop your plane. Of course this destroys your propeller so this counts as a crash meaning that you have to pay repair cost. GG WarThunder
No, if you destroy your engine but your plane is otherwise fine and landed on the carrier it counts as a landing, not a crash. As long as your plane is repairable, even if it says you died and are still repairing, you will not have to pay the repair cost.

are we talking about huge 102mm? or is it something else?
I use the clipped wing firefly for CAS in ground, it's great with 16 RP3s and it can dogfight once you've shot off all the rockets. It's still a brick but the flaps are godlike plus cannons.

I run it as a bomber, that's what I think of its fighter ability.. The cannons are great, but unless in a confused fur-ball you won't ever get anyone in your sights with them. Better at ground-attack and as a 2nd line distraction.

Yeah, Firefly Mk I is totally underestimated. My first ace in realistic was on that plane. The German pilots were outraged. Called for a higher BR for the Firefly.
I remember back when the firefly mrk 1 had only 240 rounds for its cannons, in a dogfight you had about 4 seconds of shoot time before you ran out of ammo

Great videos by the way.
It's called an inline because aviation engineers are terrible at naming things. The inline part is because both banks of cylinders are straight lines, whereas your typical aviation engines of the day were either rotaries (the block rotates around a fixed crankshaft, causing reciprocating motion of the pistons), radials (the pistons surround the crank in a circular shape and have a more "linear" firing pattern), or the occasional O (horizontally opposed) engine. The O engine was more often seen in civilian applications like the Piper J3 "Cub".
@@oneofmanyparadoxfans5447 that is very confusing, because in cars a V12 cannot also be an Inline-12, they're two completely different configurations of cylinders for the engine lol

If you can still use the plane afterwards, it’s a great landing

The higher br firefly also has a higher rate of fire at 750 rpm compared with the 600 rpm of the previous model

How Firefly compares to Typhoon? I've just unlocked RP-3 in my Typhoon for using it in mixed battles, but it flies like a brick. I still prefer using Hurricanes.

Yes, with aircraft engines the term "inline" is correct when used in that capacity, the engine designers considered them to be "2 inline 6 cly banks", therefore it is considered to be an inline design.

As the Japanese quickly learned in WW2, armor, armorment, and generally speaking survivability is more important than turn rate.
There's a top Japanese ace that survived the war who's interviewed here on RUclips that says the Zero was their worst fighter of the war because the designers mistakenly thought that the best fighter design would be an aerobatic plane with guns on it, big mistake.
Despite people's mistaken perceptions about the Zero's combat record even the F4F Wildcat had a nearly 5 to one kill ratio against it, and that was early on when the Zero was being flown by highly experienced and much better trained pilots, one of the reasons that the Corsair and Hellcats had the kill ratio against the Zero that they did is because by then the Wildcat had already shot most of the experienced Japanese pilots out of the sky and the Corsair and Hellcats were flying against poorly trained inexperienced Zero pilots some of whom only had 10 hours time in one.

its blast radius is fucking huge
it can't be a v12 if its inline
V implies the cylinders are in a V shape with the evens on one side and the odds on another
inline has all the cylinders in a row usually revered to as an "inline 12"
I was a bit confused at first when I heard aircraft V engines referred to as inline engines too, because to me, an inline 6 and a V6 are two totally different engines. But the reason V engines are inlines in aircraft are because a non-inline aircraft engine would be a radial, which is completely unsimilar to both straight and V engines.

I recently unlocked the first Firefly, but man, I suck hard with the rockets. I mostly use this plane as a support in tank rb, but I just don't know how to use the rocket aim reticle :/
Francesco Salvadori, try aiming the reticle sideways a little bit and point the rocket at your target. Hope this helps
