I absolutely adore your family. Kudos to you and your wife for exposing your children to all different types of cultures. My husband is Ghanaian, , and my former husband who is now passed on was Nigerian. We believe in allowing our children to be exposed to different cultures through travel. My children’s passports are probably Filled on every page! Your children have a wisdom about them at this early age because you’ve exposed them to so much. This is amazing. I can just taste those ribs through the TV screen! :-)
Nice video! Happy to see you all at home and Kelly is back! Granite is just an awesome kid, Cedar is so smart and Forrest, adorable as usual. What a great meal you guys put together! ❤
So glad to see Kelly back home and everyone home. It’s such a good feeling your house is so beautiful and serene. I just love home cooking. This was heartwarming.!! Love you, our Alaska family!
A different kind of vlog but I loved it. So very homely❤ Nice to see Kelly getting the kids to learn more life living skills I believe are just as important as math and science. Ribs looked delicious John bet that ketchup complimented it well. Love to all. ❤
Thank you 🙏 I’m feeling so blessed by everyone’s comments and support. I’m glad I got to be with family during this tough time. If I was halfway around the world and had a full classroom, I probably wouldn’t have made it in time to say goodbye. That would have crushed me 💔
I loved this video! Honestly I have to say I love all of them that I have watched. You are such a wonderful family! Can't wait to see more of anything you guys get into. Thank you so much.
I found you through your road-trip home and am watching all your videos! Very cool. I grew up in AK and picking the cranberries brought back good memories :)
We love that you found us! Alaska is a great place to grow up. Since you know about cranberries, you probably remember what it smells like! I will always associate fall in Alaska with the pungent smell of ripe cranberries and Labrador tea. Home sweet home 💙
Right!?! He did a great job!! That smoker is new, so he’s been planning and trying to decide the best things to smoke in it. I’m excited to smoke some Gouda and eggplant in it. Probably won’t look as impressive 😂
If you take large (1 quart?) yogurt cups, punch 2 small holes in top rim and attach paracord so it hangs about waist high, you will have wonderful berry picking cups. Each child could have their own picking cup. Empty cups into gallon ziplocks as they get full. I enjoy your channel, happy berry picking.
Thank you 😊 There are so many berries, many berries have multiple names, and there are poisonous berries that look similar to the good berries…so berry picking can be stressful. I follow a few berry and mushroom Facebook pages. I need to get some identification books (Verna Pratt has the best ID for Alaska berries). I look at the shape of the leaves, berry color and shape, and the seed shape inside the berry. I’m still studying mushrooms and don’t feel as confident with them, yet.
Two things I miss about living in New England (I currently live in South Florida): 1. Getting seafood (clams, oysters, and mussels) right from the shore. 2. Walking through the woods and picking berries to make muffins, jams, breads, and sauces I’m feeling quite nostalgic watching your video! ❤🥲
Make hummus from chickpeas. Cook chickpeas in water with a little salt. Drain all water. Put chickpeas in food processer, add lemon juice, a little balsamic vinegar & process it till it becomes a paste in the food processor. People also add a little extra virgin olive oil during pureeing in the processor.
Can’t wait to make hummus!! Our food processor is in our moving shipment, on some boat in the ocean between Indonesia and Alaska 😩 I hope it gets here soon. We love fresh hummus.
I made ribs in the InstantPot the other day and holy smokes they were AMAZING! Fall off the bone tender and DELICIOUS! If anyone wants the recipe let me know and am more than happy to pass it along.
Hi family: Everything looks so great I can actually taste the smoke on the ribs. Family dinners are a great way to share life with each other and all your fans viewing your vlogs. I have a suggestion for the ketchup - next time add a 5.5 ozs can of tomato paste and 2 tablespoons brown sugar to thicken and smoothe out the astringent flavor of the wild berries. That's my additions for my recipe when I make berry ketchup. Keep up the great work. RC Toronto Canada
J, please crack your eggs on the counter, not the pan or bowl. Scrape EVERYTHING off the chopping block with the back of your knife to save the blades sharpness.
Kelly you don't have blanch berries to freeze them. Just rinse, dry and then flash freeze and bag them. It looked like it all turn out well. Nice to see that school is going well.
Yes, you are correct 👍 I just rinsed them, patted them dry and froze them. I didn’t blanch them, that’s what I do with broccoli or kale 😂 Just forgot what I was saying, and forgot to edit that part out. They seem to freeze okay, but I have cooked any of the berries we have put in the freezer. It seems like they should be okay.
The smoke ribs and bread is perfect combination for a great meal the one thing is missing is mashed potato with gravy and cranberry sauce 😅btw can you guys deliver the smoked ribs here in the Philippines hehe I want to taste your food hehehe just kidding have a great day fam
Hi bags pack family.😊Its so nice to see you guys finally at your own home. So this year , Forest is starting his preschool? Kelly? Lots of love,❤ from Kuching Sarawak
Thank you! I can’t wait to check out Jolly Phonics. Forest is in Kindergarten this year, and I am excited to teach him to read. Do you have any suggestions for kindergarten math? I don’t love what I am using, but I am supplementing with Zearn and I’m happy with that so far 👍
It’s nice to see you back Kelly, you Guys making your own Ketchup is a serious jumpstart on a suburban living... BtW, I assume you ate meat 🍖 before kelly, I’m wondering what is your technique in ignoring those smoked ribs Jonathan is Just flaunting infront if you??? Who knows we will become vegetarian too... Ps, how did you manage to make a bread burned and uncooked at the same time... Joking...
Forrest holding his plate out saying “Daddy, I want some” totally gave me Oliver Twist urchin vibes-Please sir, may I have some more”? Lol
Yes 😂

I freeze my berries in a large muffin tin. They don’t roll off, come apart easily to put into freezer bags.

Never been this early ❤🎉
As usual great video 😍
Great family participation and efforts and the food looks delicious!
The foraging vlogs are so fun. I wish we had something like that where I am but the parrots decimate everything.
Oh wow! Although somewhat destructive, parrots are quite beautiful.
Welcome back Kelly! How do you know what berry to pick?
Thank you 😊 There are so many berries, many berries have multiple names, and there are poisonous berries that look similar to the good berries…so berry picking can be stressful. Love these homestyle vlogs!

Love your show!!! Would love to see Granite’s workout routine! Very inspiring, keep up the great videos!
He does the Darby workouts, found online. He says that he has full body days, then legs, arms, and abs.

when i was kid i though there only a Penguin, Seal and snow bear that live in Alaska
We will try to capture even more animal footage for you 👍
Get yourself a danish whisk, great for your bread dough.
With all those trees, you should try tapping birch sap in the spring.
Great suggestion!

I eat Tabasco with eggs and bacon too. Wonder if it's an Asian influence thing. Those ribs look so good. Dinner with a nice family in Alaska.🤩

Wonderful! You should drill the birch trees next yet and make birch syrup!
We do have some birch trees in our backyard!! That would be a fun thing to do with the kids.

The cranberry doesn’t look like the same cranberry I see typically used at thanksgiving, it’s translucent vs pretty solid. is it sweet? Tart? Thanks.
What's the difference between the high bush cranberries and the "bog" berries that they Ocean Spray make juices out of?
That’s a great question. I’ll have to ask Kelly about that.
birch great fire wood when dead n dry great to cutdown n use to heat your home
We have a few dead birch trees in our backyard that need to come down!!
❤❤❤
🙌
Yeahhhhhh buddddddyyyyyyyyyy
Is your truck regular fuel (non-deisel)?
Yes, it’s regular fuel. I considered diesel at one point, but I thought I wouldn’t need the extra power that often.
May I ask why do the kids start school so early? It’s it because of the daylight?
Do you need a new family member i have my bags ready....lol..lol good job...😀😁🎃
