His arrogance did showed when he mentioned in the beginning that he planned to mooch off of Rowley's fame if he ever became famous but that was literally at the beginning. Afterwards, he is on the sidelines and tries his best to help out Rodrick whenever he needs it.
We need Greg in freshman year. He's been in middle school so long to the point where I was able to graduate elementary school, middle school, and high school and he's still in middle school. I'd like to see how it plays out with Greg in highschool.
This book made me want a little more (im)mature series that focuses on Rodrick’s High School life. Mayhaps even he could get a love interest? I loved this book more than the past ones tbh. My last absolute favorite book was probably Cabin Fever.
I liked the book overall, but to be honest I really wanted to see Greg make the decision to join Rodrick's band because he was curious and/or wanted to find out what the rock'n'roll life was. (He did by joining Rodrick when he went on some gigs) But, Greg was forced to play because he had to cover for one of Rodrick's bandmates. Not to mention that I only see him having fun towards the *end* of the book, which isn't bad but personally, I would've liked to see Greg enjoy himself earlier on. But again overall the book isn't bad, I really like how it's more centered on rodrick this time because last time a book was about him was in Rodrick Rules which was made in 2008. So... I really don't mind a new one!
I'm not a big fan of the blatant modern references, it kinda ruins the vibe. But the story being almost purely based on Rodrick does seem pretty fun. They really should've made this the beginning of a Rodrick diary spin-off considering how seldomly used Greg seems to be in this entry

So I read it again, and every time you actually SAW Greg in a picture, I counted it. My end result: 52 pages. That’s 23,…% (the number you see above). Greg isn’t even present for a whole quarter of his own Diary. I know this one was supposed to be more about Rodrick, but Greg still should’ve played more of a role than just some side/background character who barely even does anything until the end of the book.
While I was reading the book I thought the same thing like when you said how Greg knows all this stuff I was confused.cause did rodrick really tell greg all these details or was greg spying on the band or something, cause what I can see is that greg was with the band rarely in the beginning of the book.
Fun fact: in the Movie diary next chapter one of the parts that got cut was Greg and his family get rescoued by a Spanish speaking band called metallichihuahua and I think that’s why they put them in the book

to be honest, rodrick rules was 10x better than diper overlode. diper overlode is just mainly rodricks life, it doesnt show greg at all. rodrick rules on the other hand, it genuinely showed both characters being brothers, rather than just rodricks band. i feel like this should have been a spinoff of rodricks life made into its own series, as there is so much jeff kinney can say about rodrick.
