    I hope that you like this weeks episode where I craft some new forest scatter terrain pieces! I really like the way they came out and it was a first for me using Sculpey to sculpt the different pieces! I so look forward to use these in my future tabletop adventures! Stay safe good folks! Lots of love! 🤘💙💛💙🤘

    That was awesome! I can imagine how painstaking it was to sculpt every branch, but it was worth it, the end result was stunning! I also really like how you have a big felled log covered in moss as a standalone piece. Its a very nice way to add an old growth feel to a forest! I can picture archers popping up behind it, or a shining white stag just beyond it! The adventure writes itself! Great work man, very inspiring.

      Thank you Eric! Yeah I have a couple more videos coming soon in the same vein. As a DM I do love scatter terrain because it is so flexible and can be combined with other pieces! Thank you kindly for the nice comment! 🤘

      Haha! I am sure you have Sculpey there! Thank man for saying so! I was a bit unsure of what constitutes "grimdark" exactly, I just know that I love the Warhammer Fantasy style. Amongst my friends we call it.."pig-farmers Fantasy". It's real, it's dirty, it's gritty :) Kind of what Deadwood was to the Western genre! :D

    Started making my own trees this way and they turn out great. One thing I would love to know is how you made that black wash you used in a spray bottle.

    • @DevsDice
      @DevsDice  9 месяцев назад

      Good to hear! The wash is very simple and there are basically two ways of making it depending on your price range: First one is water, black acrylic paint and a few drops of dishsoap to break the surface tension! The second one, which I used, was to use water, black artist ink (e.g. Liquitex) and flow aid. The exact measurements is hard to say so test it out on some dummy objects I would say. Hope that helps! 👍😅

    Very nice job with the clay, ive used wall joint compound but it just doesn't look correct, in the end, for most of my pieces, i use naturally harvested pieces that i flock. I personally found that army paint steppe grass makes an amazing moss really easily, its a bit flatter than the clump foliage, alternativley i grind up reindeer moss and stain it whatevers. These pieces have so much good detail, def subbed.

    Lovely result: I really like your bark sculpting, even if it was a long process. Out of curiosity, if I wanted to use this for a 54mm display mini, would you recommend I use the same technique, just bigger? And what about foliage - do you create it like I've seen others do from poly fiber (from woodland scenic) with added greeneries on top? Any more detailed technique you could suggest here would be really appreciated. Thank you for this video - I've definitely got to check the others on the channel out! :-)

    • @DevsDice

      Hey Yan! Yeah I would recommend it but that being said, I would spend more time with the bark details since the scale is larger. I have actually two videos where I use polyfiber and seafoam trees for foliage substructure! It's the birch tree video and the fantasy tree video! Hope they help! 😀👍

    Advice from someone who works with a lot of Sculpey, forget the 15 minute bage do it for 60 minutes, ths maks the clay stronger. Sculpey III is another good soft clay to use for this purpose. Also get a little in oven thermometer to be sure you maintain the correct temperature. Most ovens are not accurate to what you dial.

      I would say that from my experience, you CAN use Das but it comes with some issues. First off it can crack when drying. These look great! It’s funny, I’m literally working on similar trees as I type this comment. I’m using 28 gauge floral wire, which is much thinner, but I’m liking how they are turning out so far. Have you ever used latex rubber on terrain? I’m using it to coat the wire, instead of clay. The result has been thinner trees than what you have here, but I like how easy it coats.

    • @DevsDice
      @DevsDice  4 года назад

      First of thank you for the nice comment! I have as of now not used latex but I actually was planning on using it for some future trees, specifically to enhance the look of the top-most branches where the foliage would go. We'll see what I go for but that video should drop sometime in the coming months :D
