    This is so helpful! How long could I make this before my wedding? Could I make it the day before as long as I top up the water in the foam?

    • @BloomCultureFlowers
      @BloomCultureFlowers  Год назад

      Yes you can! The only issue is the foam doesn’t work like a regular vase of water. When you insert stems into the foam they can drink a bit of water but it’s not meant as a long term arrangement. If you water the foam it sort of re soaked it but it doesn’t necessarily help the flowers access more water as the foam can gunk up the stems. If you see wilting just recut the stem and insert it again, which may help.

    I am doing my own flowers for my wedding. The wedding is on a Friday, and I was hoping to do the arrangements Wednesday night. How should I keep the flowers looking fresh? Should I try to wait or just keep the foam wet?

      Saya biasanya memilih bunga yang tidak mudah layu, karena kalau di Indonesia 2 hari resepsi, semisal acara Minggu pasang di Jum'at sore.

    Is one entire day enough to do 10 large arrangements, 10 small ones, 8 bouquets, and 8 boutonnières? Colorful of various flowers. My friend is a florist and I want to suggest she travels, buys them from a wholesale, and makes them for me. I get married on a Sunday and she works on Friday, so she’ll only have Saturday. She has one helper.

    Do these need to be watered at all once you arrange them? Do you submerge the base in something? Or do you just put this together as close to the wedding as possible?

      All oasis should be pre soaked before using. Fill a large tub which is deeper and wider than the oasis piece with water ,fill the tub at least 6” deeper than the height of the oasis. Then place the piece of oasis onto the water…for a cage like the one being used here you can turn it upside down but still place it gently on top of the water. NEVER EVER push the oasis down into the water, this causes air pockets and dry spots in your oasis which causes your flowers or greenery to die. Leave the oasis to sink to the bottom of the tub and wait until there are no bubbles coming from the oasis. For something large like this I would leave the oasis to soak up to 45 minutes no longer or it will take up so much water it will start to break up. If you feel it is very wet then you can just place the dish/tray on a towel as you start arranging just so you don’t get covered in water! One last thing when cutting your stems ALWAYS cut a nice sharp 45 degree cut whether that’s greenery or flowers and again NEVER EVER EVER crush the stems of anything. Back in the 50’s/60’s the advice was to crush stems especially woody stems. This is the worst thing you can ever do to any type of plant material, all it does is crush the cells and prevent them from taking up water so you’re actually doing the opposite of what you want to happen.
      One last little tip! When placing flowers and greenery into a vase of water , always clean the stems of any leaves or stems that are below the waterline. If you leave them on they got slimy and start to rot and cause bacteria to spread in the water which then rots the flowers…..and don’t forget to thoroughly clean your vases out with a drop of bleach in hot water between each use. Happy Arranging!

    It would have been better if the background of the video is plain and not cluttered with other flowers so one can appreciate the progress of the design. Here, the actual flowers used and the flowers in the background becomes confusing and distracting. My suggestions.
