@@u.s.s.commanderalanmw9203 i think it would depend as the epicentre would be the main factor in how fast the wave travels, i think you could estimate that up to 20 minutes before waves come ashore in some locations so would be advised soon as you feel a shake that strong run.

probably moderate waves maybe 3 feet tall but depends how big the earthquake is, 8.0 maybe 3 feet tall but 9.0 maybe 5-6 feet tall
