    As a Chilean, this earthquake was so intense that created a mega-tsunami to all Pacific Ocean (and a part of Australia)

    there was a larger earthquake in ancient times still an M9.5 but they have larger rupture area it also still in Chile

      @@disasterlab9901 This was the most powerful earthquake ever recorded, It ocurred on 1960, It had a magnitude of 9.5 and produced a significant tsunami that caused deaths in Hawaii, Japan and the Phillipines

    the epicenter dot of the 9.5 Chile earthquake according to the USGS was under a tree across the street from 2 or 3 houses surrounded by trees outside Lumaco

    By the way, Argentina is so close, and it almost didn’t feel the earthquake (maximum 5-). Have the Andes Mountains diminished in strength?

      Here's how I think of it.
      If earthquakes are like lightbulbs, large subduction zone earthquakes isn't like 1 big lightbulb, but several smaller lightbulbs placed in a line.
      The Andes might also have a role since the crust there is full of cracks and faults so it's not as good in transferring seismic energy.
