Ryan Liberty / Mental Health can I ask a question my ex of 17 years dumped me for another woman and is still with her going on 10 months is this a rebound? Thank you
I was with my ex for 9 years, since i was 20 years old. We lived together, we went through so many positive and negative things. He wanted space because we were having issues and that wasn't working for me so i broke up with him. I felt so lonely and hopeless. I had the urge to make up for wasted time and move fast. I started hanging out with one of my male friends a lot (who i had a crush on when i was 18) and one thing led to another.....2 months later we were in a relationship. I was projecting all my insecurities on him. I clearly never dealt with my issues or grieving my ex. We even talked about marriage and moving in together. In total we were together for 7 months. There were way too many ups and downs, we broke up multiple times, i saw tons of red flags which i ignored since i felt like i needed to be with someone. We weren't very compatible but i liked everything else about him so i felt like i had to compromise. I was so scared of being alone, going from living with someone to being on my own was a huge change. Now I'm back to square one, having baggage from two failed relationships. I wish i could have taken it all back and been on my own.
@@justme7520 it depends. Sometimes someone checks out of the relationship years prior, so what appears as a rebound may in fact be a simple case of your partner having moved on prior to the actual end of the relationship. However people rebound all the time, and can spend years in a rebound relationship until it serves them and they dump the reboundee. All the best with everything
You are right on Ryan....everything you talked about I have experienced. I’ve been on rebounds, I am a rebound and my gf will be on a rebound or her new bf will be on a rebound. I went into a relationship soon after we broke, I broke up with my new gf because she is not what I wanted.... I’m still hooked on my ex. My ex started seeing her so called friend like a brother before I move out of the house. They have been together sense Feb the same month we broke up. We both on rebounds and so is the girl I just broke up with and my ex’s new bf will be a rebound I can see it. My ex loves to workout with me. I love flirting with her we go out to eat and we just saw the movie Creed together. When I don’t respond to her texts or call her back she freaks out and start blowing up my phone. Yet when she is with him I don’t hear much from her. What you talked about is right on. Rebounds makes us worse.
Can you make a video about how to cope with being the rebound? I've seen tons of videos on RUclips that explain what a 'rebound relationship' is (its definition, how to tell if you're on a rebound relationship, why they don't work/last..etc BUT no videoa on the effects that it has on the person who was used by the rebounder. Any advice on that? How to heal? Why they chose us? Why we didn't see the red flags? Etc? Thanks
My ex jumped to a new relationship in the same week after 4 yr relationship And has been with rebound for 4 months and told me she is happy but in same phone call 3 weeka go that she missed me and spent an hour on the phone with me but she moved on?? Ok lol
Could the mother of his children be a rebound? They had a long term toxic combative relationship and finally broke up and moved on. They both ended 2/3 year relationships with other people and ended up together a week later claiming to make it work for the kids.
It's possible. Just because someone has a prior relationship doesn't mean they're ready to jump back in. They might still carry around the same old patterns that kept the relationship from working the first time around.
My ex of 5 years started dating a guy 2 weeks after our break up. Is that rebound. She's been drinking more than when with me. I am sober. We were living together for a month after we ended it. It sucked.
MY EX BROKE UP WITH ME I WAS WITH HER FOR 5 YEARS WE HAVE A 3 YEAR GIRL TOGETHER SO SHE WENT BACK TO HER FIRST BABY'S DAD HE WAS NEVER AROUND FOR 8 YEARS HE DINT PAY CHILD SUPPORT OR ANYTHING ANYWAYS NOW SHE ACTS LIKE SHE NEVER CARED ABOUT ME SHES ALL HAPPY TOOK ME OVER A MONTH TO GET OVER HER AND SHE DIDNT EVEN HURT JUST SAD SAD .
joker5751 it sounds like the pain will creep in soon, she probably just feels the need to experience lost time, reminds me of the saying the grass isn't always greener on the other side. You should heal completely and seek someone who fits what you need as a whole. As you know if nothing is always happy. You've experienced and one part where you were weak in with her the other bd might be strong in that department but weak in area you were strong and overall don't forget he wasn't around for a long time that's the biggest piece so be at peace with knowing if it not with her. You have someone specially made for you coming after you really heal as a whole from your ex
Where can I read more about coregulation? I've recently come to terms with myself and decided to fix my issues before I pursue another relationship, since I realized there's a big pattern in a lot of my past relationships. The idea of coregulation sounded pretty interesting, since it's one of the issues I tend to have with my parnerts (not supporting each other the way we need), and lack of understandment.
I still have to learn more about coregulation myself. It's a term usually used for therapists to learn about interacting with clients but it really applies to all relationships. You might find some info if you search for polyvagal theory and coregulation.
