When I was an HR Coordinator my main duty was recruiting and I had a love/hate relationship with it. Pretty much for the same reasons as your pros and cons. However im patiently waiting for another recruiter role to open in my region. Our HR folks stay in their jobs forever!!! There's actually a recruiter that was supposed to retire last year but she decided to stay for another year. 🤦🏾♀️ Yall please pray that this lady finally retires and moves to Arizona so I can have her job!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂🤷🏾♀️
That's great to hear longevity in your workplace! It's certainly something I've struggled with. It's very frustrating waiting though I completely understand! I hope one opens up soon!!!!!!!❤️❤️❤️
😂 man, I worked with a lady that was the same!! HR, 72 yrs old, and wanted me to take her role. Im like “ma’am, your parents are 90 something and you still here at 72 your ass ain’t going anywhere😂.”
Raechel! 🩷🩷 thank you 🥹I'm proud of you too I went on a tik tok deep dive doing my hair the other day! ❤️ so happy we are doing what we said we always would !
Hi Alexandria! Great video and thank you for sharing. I am attending school to obtain my Human Resource Management Certificate and looking for TSA positions once I graduate. This video is truly insightful and extremely helpful. Thank you! 😊
Hi!!! Thank you so much! Ahhh! Congratulations this part of HR has been fun and challenging so I'm excited to see more of what this will look like for me as I continue on with the company!
I feel this so much ! 100% update your resume of course but try to match a lot of what a specialist does to some of your roles listed. Do you mind sharing with me what positions you've held in HR? I feel like I can explain better If I know. In the interview stages I would sell myself in knowing HR laws, processes, compliance, coming up with scenarios to use as well.
@@alexandria9870 Hello Alex, Yes, I am “older” 32, but early in my career. Which I feel makes it harder for me. I was an HR intern for 5 months, HR Assistant for a year and change, HR Recruiter my current role for 2 years. Prior to that was a receptionist for 3 years. Everything before that was unrelated. Familiar with HRIS systems Paycom, Workday, Dayforce. I want to work ideally with benefits. But I am open other options. I just really want to get out of recruitment lol
@@RadioactiveDavid I completely understand because I just got out of my recruiting role because I was DONE with TA. I'm sure you've been applying to a bunch of HR Specialist/ Generalist roles, have you had someone in the roles look at your resume? I try to match my resume to the job descriptions posted. With my new HR role I went back to a coordinator position however I won't be in this position long I don't think. I was really just needing to get out of the recruiting role and company I was with. But when I was tweaking my resume I put in some of the postings jobs descriptions as my experience.
Hello!! I just tied what I learned during my studies to business/project management/ T&D/ etc. I sold it in the interview. But there are other HR professionals I've worked with throughout my career who have VERY successful HR Careers, and had psychology and sociology degrees. It's all about working with people, understanding different personalities, perspective , cultures, emotional intelligence. If you're looking to get into HR post graduation then you will do just fine!

Currently a Recruiter, been doing it for 2 years and I’m burnt out. Any advice on how to pivot into being an HR specialist ?

How did you take your degree and get into HR? I’m going in psychology but want to work in HR.
