DJI FPV Hack - Improved Signal!

- You can Hack your DJI FPV drone for free with a very simple process online. This will give the DJI FPV an improved signal and longer battery flight time. No special equipment required and only takes a few minutes. The hack is completely reversible.
Hacking the DJI FPV drone to FCC is said to give a much improved signal strength and longer battery duration, leading to increased range and flight time.
I don't show you how to hack your DJI FPV drone here, but I show the resulting flight after the hack.

Hey Robert, I love watching you fly over the scenery of Scotland. You can cover so much distance in 11 minutes! Over here in Texas, 96% of the land is privately owned. There is so much barbed wire (and guns) I am worried about having to go rescue my drone on private land. I have heard gun shots more than once when I fly at my farm. Still searching for open public land where I can cover distances like you do. Anyway, I wear my hat every day, yet Ancestry now tells me 3% Scotland and 14% Ireland and 67% England. My gut stills tells me Scotland, LOL! Thanks again for your videos!

I'd be more cautious with Lassie if there were gun-toting Texans cutting about here looking for an opportunity to take a pot-shot at her. ButI'd probably fit her with a mini mini-gun and return fire! ;)
Technically I'm a real Scottish Lord, I bought a plot of land for $60 USD, and it is now legally my official title :)

The comments on the videos are so useful. I learn a lot, and a lot about the mistakes I make!
Robert whatever you do don't update your FPV drones firmware anymore or you will be permanently locked out from unlocking your drone again. And don't plug your phone into the googles the app will automatically reset the app back to CE . And the Hack doesn't give you more battery life , just transition rage. Keep the videos coming Robert I lookforded watching them, take care mate.

Changing the drone to FCC mode increases the transmitter power from the controller and from the drone but does not have anything to do with the battery power.CE mode restricts 2.4ghz power to 100mw and 5.8ghz to 25mw.

Great video and test....saving up for the fpv dji....loving my mini2 and not interested in the mini 3 anytime soon.
The mini 2 and the fpv compliment each other so well. You may be interested in some of the other videos where I compare the cameras and the flying styles of each drone side by side :)
I was going to mention the FCC/CE differences but Tom already covered it. Perhaps, if you get another DJI drone, you can try to find a way to buy the USA/FCC version and skip the hacks. (some others have done it).
I've been trying to get my hands on a Skydio 2 for ages now with no luck!
You can't do that Bill Somrak if you buy the drone from the USA and ship it hear to the UK the drone will still lock you out of FCC version. The app looks at your location from the GPS not from where you buy it from.

I think it's difficult to fly both FPV and GPS drones because it's a different muscle memory for each style of flying. To be consistent, you need to stick with one or the other. For me, I'm sticking with the cinematic drones, and therefore I don't have much use for my DJI FPV - even though it is a great drone and I did enjoy it for a while.
You can try the cruisecontroll mode suilen flying to get simmullar power use i think that will work

I don't believe the FCC hack has any positive effect on battery life, only on controller and video transmitter output power which should actually mean higher power consumption by the drone. The best way to confirm would be a before/after timed hover test in perfectly still wind conditions, even indoors. Wind has a huge effect on quadcopter endurance and so does ambient temperature on the performance of lithium batteries.

I've heard if you turn on the Mavic Mini or Mini 2, tap the controller power button 5x quickly, rotate the left stick anti clockwise 3 times and the right stick clockwise 3 times until the controller beeps 3 times.
Then hold out the drone at arms length, spin round twice clockwise and twice anti clockwise.
Then put the drone on the floor, point the controller at it and move both sticks alternately up and down, slowly walking around the drone, first clockwise, until it beeps then anti clockwise until it beeps.
You have to do this as low as you can get, almost crouching like sitting on an imaginary chair.
If you follow the sequence correctly, you'll get a fanfair of beeps, like a dah dah dah dat da daaah.....
You'll have now entered DJI 'God' mode, which gives unlimited range, twice as much flight time, uncrashability no damage mode and best of all FULL ACRO mode!👍⚠️😲😁

It would be nice to have more flight time with the DJI FPV but I'm not sure if the FCC hack is one way of achieving it!

Depends what you want to do really...If it's aerobatics, loop de loops and racing, then not the DJI FPV probably. But if you want to include some exciting and dynamic footage into your videos that the Mavic-types can't do, then aye.
It is a real blast to fly though so even if you want one for fun, not necessarily to include in your videos, then aye! Next time you're passing my way, let me know and I'll meet up wi you and let you have a mess about wi Laddie to see if you like it :)
@@WindsweptRobert I got the DJI fpv Robert, I’ve been on the Sim last few weeks but been doing manual flights last week, it’s awesome I love it. I do get some signal pixelations tho so if this improves the signal strength I think I’ll give it a try but overall love it. I mount a action cam on top for better quality too
@@DMProductions Ahh..right. Well, as long as you haven't updated your goggles, you can install and uninstall the hack at will. It only takes a few seconds to install or uninstall. I did absolutely get a longer flight before pixelation occurred after I installed the hack. I'll be keeping the hack installed because the DJI FPV is a long-range cruiser and it's better to have a longer signal reach if you can get it :)

@@WindsweptRobert it’s the aircraft you can’t upgrade, my goggles are sadly on .15 but drone hacks let me downgrade from .15 to .00 and do the attitude/ Nfz’s while my goggles stayed to .15
How do the dji goggles with the dji fpv compare with drone mask goggles using your phone? Is their a huge difference in terms of quality?
The DroneMask is more comfortable to wear. The quality of the screen view is about the same in both :)

I used a website and downloaded a file from there and then uploaded it to my googles

I have not noticed any lag, but I do not fly much in Manual mode yet. In Normal and Sport mode, there is no lag :)
Too late for me. I bought a new fpv and i was forced to upgrade to ver. 000.15. I am stuck with this now. B3yond is working on it. Dont know when it will be fixed 😔

Drone hacks let me downgrade on two drones so I can remove altitude limit and it worked like a charm, my goggles are still on 2.0.0.015 but it doesn’t have any effect on the attitude hack and since am in the us am not sure the fcc does anything for me but I was able to downgrade

Is increasing the RF power of your drone legal? Surely it is set lower in the UK to comply with Uk laws? I remember the old CB's that were set to 4 Watts, you could increase the power output with a burner to 50 Watts, which were totaly illegal to use and caused a lot of interference with TV signals. I friend of mine did 3 months in prison for using one of those :-(
3 months in prison for using a cb radio? I think he was probably using it for something else!

They did, but I haven’t installed the latest firmware
@@WindsweptRobert neither have I but it try’s to force you to update if you connect to the dji fly app and you’re not on the latest firmware. Is there a work around?

@@WindsweptRobert do you still get full “find my drone” map if you were to connect it after a crash? By that I mean if you crash and lose ur drone, can you connect the goggles and RC to the app and get a map (just like you would if you had the app on)

I haven't seen a hack for Lassie yet, Savoy, but if there is one, i'll try it out :)
I believe there is a hack out there for the Minis, but DJI have now patched it with a irreversible firmware update.
