Partly true perhaps, but education has been a basic right for over 100 years.
But our generation was immunized differently. We never feel offended. We were allowed to play outside, cycle without bicycle helmets, skateboard without protection, etc. But we didn't have these damn screens with connectivity all the time.

But, I’ve met people from the older generation, and the younger generation, who are kind, understanding, and willing to learn things. In my experience, it’s really the person. I’ve met some people in today’s generation that frowned upon things, like struggling, crying, and even quirkiness. Yes, a lot millenials and gen z do stay on our phones way too much, have a hard time holding down a job and can be very fragile emotionally. But a lot of gen X were getting hooked on every drug known to man, having babies left and right then losing them to DHS. A lot of baby boomers were alcoholics, felons and completely sold their soul to religion (I'm a Christian and can still see that.) But does that make older generations bad? No. Does it make us so weak and worthless? No. Each generation has their own problems to work through and challenges to face. The older generations cant look at us and think we're so much worse and so weak, but we also cant shift the blame to them for where we're at in life. The problems always come from social, economic, snd leadership structures. We're all on this sinking ship of a planet together and instead of always pointing fingers we all need to show love, kindness, understanding and offer guidance to each other.

Nowadays, it repels me seeing a person of my age that's not capable of proper communication without a phone, who supports obviously harmful ways and has no sense of responsibility. On the other hand, I don't believe the older generations are saints. It really feels like couples from 20th century intended to spawn kids as a stress relief from job, rather then raising them as their successors. Lack of guidance is one factor, but older generation can't really teach every up-to-date stuff, since they're not experienced or deliberately avoid it. That is what kind of job conditions we are facing now. Level 1 EE: 65,000K a year. Mowing yards in my area in comparison I can charge a contract price and average 60 dollars an hour. That is roughly 120,000 a year if I work a 40-hour week. Ponder on that. I also see very few boomers on jobs really working physically harder that the younger generation. Everyone, is going through something.

I found quotes on the subject by several prominent boomers.
    Socrates (469-399 BC)
"The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority and show disrespect for elders"
    Hesiod (circa 700 BC)
"I see no hope for the future of our people if they are dependent on the frivolous youth of today. When I was young, we were taught to be discreet and respectful of elders, but the present youth are exceedingly wise and impatient of restraint."
    Plato (circa 429-347 BC)
"What is happening to our young people? They disrespect their elders, they disobey their parents. They ignore the law. They riot in the streets inflamed with wild notions. Their morals are decaying."
    Cicero (106-43 BC)
"Times are bad. Children no longer obey their parents, and everyone is writing a book."

Rarely is there talk of things like how careers effectively don't exist for a lot of people any more and the challenges that creates, how expensive higher education has become, how marriage has become a losing proposition for men, or the numerous other hurdles that previous generations could only dream of.

      It’s simple ! Many people doesn’t love changes !
And when things change are the way they don’t want ! They see pessimism and danger everywhere because what they do not like that things change and the mentality changes too! They can’t and won’t adapt to the changes !
I am not saying that what is now is better than before and what is before is better that now ! Because everything moves very fast ! There are things before where it is better than today but there are things much better today than there wasn’t before ! And that’s what is good in change! We can’t have everything in life but enjoy what there is ! If it is in our control, yes we can change it and when we talk about change, we talk about ourselves not to control or change others ! Because Changing others without their consent or will is inhumane even the intention is good !

It’s not about generations. We need more nuance in the discussion as opposed to macroeconomic arguments.
Weakness isn’t perhaps the correct word. Resilience is what psychologists refer to, and in that respect there is an argument to be made that young people are not equipped to deal with obstacles, resistance, failure, rejection or unpredictable circumstances.
Reframing the premise in this video that younger people are looking for a different work life balance, or are more driven by values such as equality or fairness, is not addressing the premise.
It’s a well know fact that (especially in the west again), students are not able to think critically, handle criticism, or even debate without trigger warnings, safe spaces or unilateral demands made on the other party.
It’s not a personal attack on younger people (in the west) that they are less resilient and more vulnerable to mental health issues. It’s the combination of upbringing, over protection, accelerated learning and development that doesn’t necessarily correspond to the correct life phase (asking 6 year olds what why want or need, or even for their opinions) and the removal of the word “discipline” from the lexicon that have contributed to an explosion in burnout, and a focus on fringe topics like pronouns, gender politics and entitlement.
Not all young people or old people identify to any of the labels we like to glue on them. Time to let go of the term “generations”.

  • @pinkpaprika8410
    @pinkpaprika8410 5 дней назад +1

Nonsense! The complaint that “the young people of today are decadent, they will never be able to equal the deeds of their ancestors” is as old as humanity, and obviously comes from a short-sighted perception of the world.
As I grow older, I must admit that I have lost touch with the concerns of the younger generations, which is another reason for me not to judge them. Every new generation will make the best it can from whatever the previous ones leave behind. But progress of some kind does happen, even when we can’t always recognise it on the spot.

Everything all starts from home (Parenting). Then the Education System. Then when you reach your late teens, early adults, you eventually may turn to mental health services & professionals. Then you start asking yourself questions and whether or not you're the problem. And if none of that helps with coping with life or instead, making you worse at dealing with life, you might want to think twice on blaming yourself for everything. Or even, listening to those who play the blame-shifting game on you.

There are studies on this that show the impact. We also can't blame them if their Gen X and Boomer parents were not able to see the negative effects of this happening to stop it. Previous generations did not grow up with this kind of technology so were not as affected by the negative aspects of it.

    1. Education on more knowledge, views and worldly understanding: But young people tend to elevate views above facts which looks naive instead of learned. The worldly understanding is often an anecdotal, unsubstantial and barely relevant regurgitated opinion from others who share their own narratives. Critical thinking takes place when multiple perspectives and interpretations are processed and checked for biases while simultaneously trying to remove one’s own ignorance and prejudice before theorization begins. Youth almost always lack the ability to negotiate that complexity including the older people when they were young.
    2. Technology & Social Media: Anyone, young or old, having access to the level of information available now, is less dependent upon their ability to focus and memorize information which leads to many people without specialized knowledge, slower overall memory recall and belief that personal feelings hold the same or greater importance than fact.

So everything that people perceive about the current, young generation is wrong? They're amazing in every category? They have no flaws? Real unbiased reporting. 😮‍💨 " When your child doesn't take out the trash, it's not because they're a kid, so they forgot or procrastinate or are a little bit lazy, no, it's because this new glorious generation has a new sense of work-life balance that we can't possibly understand."
Stuff like this does more harm than good.

  • @cynthx
    @cynthx 5 дней назад

"We're actually better at addressing these issues head on, which is a sign of strength. Not weakness."
We've gotten better at ADDRESSING, yes. That's pretty much where it ends. The downside to social media is the amount of people with mental health issues exacerbates the likelihood of not getting it treated, because then you won't be part of social group anymore. People with mental health issues gravitate towards acceptance, validation, and lack self-regulating themselves to where they need the attention from social media. SO while the issues are openly addressed, the mentality that just existing with mental health issues is preferable as opposed to self improvement creates a divide in older generations, who strived to self improve and overcome at all costs. Validation came from overcoming challenges, not acceptance from others. That's where younger generations lose connection with older crowds.

I not going to pleased anyone to be accepted, what I want is best for my wellbeing and if that means to speak up and fight for my rights, I will do it, no matter if at the end of the day I'm alone. 6. Rising Narcissism: Good points about this one! I would only add that it’s been prevalent throughout the generations especially since women started this 3rd wave feminism push. But lots of western women are partially narcissistic with the intensity going up in the last few decades among all ages. It’s understandable why women have become more so but it’s not an excuse for it.
    7. Relationship Dynamics: Young people unable or unwilling to commit are merely adapting to the world around them. It’s especially difficult to present any positive reasons to young men to marry a young woman who has no grasp on reality, declaring what she wants, hooks up with and obsesses over people who conform with almost every opposing trait she will constantly profess to want to marry. Stay strong, safe and single out there! Remember every marriage ends in divorce or death.

You probably won’t read all this but I hope so. I landed dead center as a Gen Xer. I see great hope & things for the future, new things and things to be changed. All the positive things from this video. Potential for the end of racism, individualism, acceptance.
But there are issues that can’t be denied and these are real. Older generations
can see these from our life experiences and and a society that the world has existed with…it hasn’t changed yet, but it will. Into what we want it to be, or don’t want it to be.
It’s timeless: the young generation says the older are old, outdated, and cynical. The older say the young are lazy, weak, and lack responsibility. Yet the world continues (and will always) go round.
My opinions only: the older generations need to practice tolerance, kindness, and patience. The younger generations need to practice tolerance, kindness and patience. True is that the older generations brought the younger generations into this world and raised them. The younger generations exist in a world that was here when you arrived and you are our children. We are in this together. We all have the potential to change

sooo are we Supposed to just suffer in silence while putting on a face of happiness on the outside
Because like there are a lot of boomer jokes about hating their wife And that really doesn't seem healthy so I think therapy is a better option
Unless of course being a boastful ignorant prideful alpha male that causes problems most of the time is a good thing (i don't think it is)

Younger generations are better able to adapt than older generations for obvious reasons. Taking pride in the old while being old yourself and while society has already moved on from a lot of standards and status quos one is familiar with can make one a hazard to younger people's futures when minimal understanding is involved. More so, a lot of the ruling class have upped the ante in the class war since then: The corporations the boomer and older gens have devoted themselves to supporting, for example, now are practically rulers of multiple cultures in multiple countries through their wealth. The generational blame-game benefits the ruling class.

It's not generational, but the cultural "now". Back in the 80's, everyone was rocking. Partying it up before the nukes rained down. Today, no one is rocking. Everyone's hung up over the world not being perfect. Like it ever was or will be. We're living through a cultural and philosophical stagnation.
