8 cars you didn't expect to be thrashed at Goodwood | Festival of Speed

- Some cars line up at the start line at the Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard and you just know they are about to be thrashed to within an inch of their mechanical lives. But some you look and just think "nah, that's gonna have a gentle one".
These eight cars lined up and rather than trundling up the hill as expected, were thrown up the Goodwood tarmac in a way that cars at Goodwood should always be.
Which one of these looked most incongruous as it flew up the Festival Hill?

Rollers were meant to be treated that way....
Watch the full FOS 2021 stream at www.goodwood.com/grr!
The Rolls Footage was boring.
F me! I would say you need a third row of hay bails.
Man Europe don't play when it comes to racing an their tracks. Between the tt an this Europe loves racing.
@@JohnDoe-mx3vg Ha yes
NFL , NBA, hockey , MLB non compare to the TT racers omg 😱
I feel bad for the suspension on the Cullinan, having to carry the weight of an apartment complex
It handles surprisingly well
@@marcd7332 because Rolls can make suspension to handle the weight, other cars could never
@@karelpgbr Yup
@@marcd7332 not for long!
@@karelpgbr Maybe but after 2-3 years when kiddo stop showing off this car will be sold to new owner who will be in big trouble replacing suspension
It’s so funny how you can hear that Rolls Royce nasty growl for like a split second and then it gets quiet again because of the muffler. I’d love to hear a Rolls Royce straight piped now
Have a look a Jon Olsson's George the Rolls, I think he straight piped that
I heard one and let me tell you it's AWSOME
I kinda love that though. Something so rolls roycey about all that power being so quiet. No other company could do both.
@@fairguinevere666 my mom has an older Jaguar XJ8. It’s so quiet you can’t even tell it has a V8…. But! Sure pulls hard! Seems faster with how quiet it is actually
Umm. Just go start up a BMW M760 😜
That caterham onboard smacking the rev limiter was wicked
Cullinan on the move
And those downshifts sounded very cool
My fav car. Trying to get one in a few years. Beautiful machines.
Will say however that's exactly what I would expect to see at goodwood
Haha! It was mad and you know it. If anyone saids anything else. They’re lying. 😂
I can offer my rusty Ford Fiesta for next year. Nobody would expect that.
Nor my jeep with bad rings. Smoke with out burning off the tires
Im gonna make a fool of myself with my 50cc scooter lmao
Hayabusa powered Jhon deere gator
Does it have a class 0.5 hyperdrive?
Or my Seat Alhambra
I'm rather glad they hustled that Cullinan up the hill, barely anyone had to see it.
Agreed. My 1995 Corniche IV is what a proper Rolls-Royce should look like. A shame that the only thing that works in it is the radio because it’s Japanese.
But not gonna lie, it's still a sight to see when there's a Rolls Royce on the roads
Brings new meaning to the term "body roll," that's for sure!
It's so Gorgeous though. With Black wheels on it it's a real treat for the eyes.
As far as SUVs go, Cullinan is pretty classy. Kind of like a billionaire's Range Rover.
The Jag smoking the bags was fantastic ,no disrespect there ,just fun for the driver and the crowd 😊👍👍
Honestly, that Mk1 was the highlight of this whole video imo. Absofuckinglutely LUV that the driver let the big cat have some fun out there!
I agree! That Jag is probably giving some young fellas ideas about bringing Grampa's old Mk I Jag to a drift event...
A little less fun this year, unfortunately.
The feeling i get watching the Cullinan: Mad rhino on the run.
Dog when he sees the mail man and his owner left the gate open
"Sounds like a V6"
The person who knows what they are talking about: "So anyway thats a 3 rotor."
Triple rotor sound does resemble some sort of angry V6. So she's pretty close enough to distinguish
@@bocahdongo7769 the dude got it wrong in case you need to rewatch lol
Its funny when she says "the man's an engine genius" for choosing a 20b yes, yes he is hahaha but he didn't build it himself thats from PPRE in Wanganui New Zealand
@@sinewave999 He knows mate, he is either kiwi or aussie and is referring to the sound as she. Same as how if there is an issue but we think it's going to be okay then we will say "she'll be right".
@@user-qt2we6mb6kno, its not a V6 like the guy thinks it is, the lady then says "ok here we have a 3 rotor", the guy got the wrong engine
Seriously - no one would expect a Caterham?
I would think that's what someone WOULD bring to the Festival of Speed!
Now, a '67 Impala SS - that wouldn't be expected!
'specially if it had one of the new 632cube inch monsters in it .
Agreed.
Or some of the other pony cars... like, say, a Plymouth Roadrunner Superbird... (beep, beep anyone?)
It's about the way they thrashed the cars, not what they brought
Yeah this was underwhelming
3:53 when the yacht showroom is about to close.
Rich problems
That Alfa Romeo is a thing of beauty. Must be a lot of fun to be able to race one.
Well, Julian Majzub, the owner, do race it at Goodwood Revival.
That badge engineered V8 Scion iQ was hilarious.
Scion?
@@aquasmoke8539 That Aston hatch started out as a Scion IQ. Scion is a subsidiary of Toyota btw
@@zakvilanilam3388 in Europe its sold as a Toyota iQ, hence the confusion :)
@@aquasmoke8539 Scion is toyotas other brand like Acura for Honda Infiniti for nissan
@@masterhybrid16 Infiniti is more similar to Lexus though isn't it ?
Who wasn't expecting to see a Caterham thrashed around Goodwood??
The owner of that car, since he thought it was still in his drive ☺
I know, didn't fit the premise at all
It’s hard to find a more opposite example to this list as caterham
Brilliant! I'm just going to take another run up in that Caterham!
If there was a car I would expetc to be trashed, it would be a Catherham
Came here to say exactly this.
My first thought exactly.
You got me, I legit didn't expect a 20B powered 205.
I keep imagining The Queen behind the wheel of that Cullinan 🤣
That Peugeot 205 looking beast was a bit crazy.
No Nanny State Limiters Here.
I remember watching a guy regularly hillclimbing an Alfa Monza 8C in the N.Ireland championship. Awesome was an understatement
2:01 the camera when you're doing a speed challenge in Need For Speed ProStreet
Don't ever say that doing a burnout is a disrespect to the car it is letting the freedom out
The race drivers of yester years were fearless and raced with cars like the red Alfa in this video. They raced at tremendous speeds. They were awesome. Just raw brutal power with no driver aids other than 3 paddles, a steering, gear lever and handbreak. Fearless mothers they were 🤨
2:52 that is a proper JAAAG
5:27 Hail to the french Lion!
0:16 1:43 3:16 now that's some beautiful cars
Anyone else noticed how The Flint Wall was scared and leaned away from the Cullinan as it blast past it?
The plates on the Jag 🤣🤣
haha,
man: it sound like a V6
woman: this is a triple rotary
I mean let's be honest, putting triple rotor on Peugeot rally car is as unexpected as putting triple rotor on Porsche 935 K3
I thought I was the only one that notice that lol
Its honestly crazy to see how far the automotive industry has developed over the years.
Not for the better lately. And it's getting worse.
@@charliefrharper ok boomer
@@ConfusedGeriatric I'm not a boomer, even though I would much rather be a boomer instead of a Gen Zer like you are.
Cars today a boring, throwaway junk and just plane ugly. Period.
Bye Gen Zer. Have fun with your soulless, disposable bricks you call cars.

@@ConfusedGeriatric too bad he's right
The Rolls Royce Wraith had no " irt " or " vroom "... just smooth and fast control of the track.
damn a rolls royce is a no joke. i didnt think they were that fast. jesus christ
That Wraith Black Badge had 623 hp/642 lb-ft of torque out of a BMW twin-turbo V12.
I could’ve sworn that Cullinan was getting some wheels off the ground in the turns
Of course.. You'd need that to get away from the feds when they come at you for tax fraud
@@zimbazone so true but nobody wants to believe it
This is a very common assumption about RR cars due to how quiet they are despite having a massive V12 under the bonnet, like you could not hear the cars over the tires in the video
It was more of a Rolls-Royce Ghost with how silent it drove by
I mean tbf they do have a phantom and a wraith so basically the same thing
Didn't know Rolls-Royce made an suv. It was beautiful. And fast!! It amazes me how fast they are but completely silent.
Looks like an oversized Lada.
Honestly, I wouldn't expect the Caterham and that Peugeot to not be thrashed around at FOS
That MK1 Jag was absolutely delicious.
Whoever was driving that peugeot is a madman
Mad Mike, the Red Bull dorito drifter guy
Man that Alfa 308 C is so good
It's ridiculously beautiful... I'm in love
from behind this Cullinan thing looks like a Fiat 500 xD
It's just hideous
The taillights are the exact same lol
It's looks like Citroën AX 😁
It's an absolute minger anyway but I will never be able to unsee that now...
I like the Wrath, it was really quiet and well mannered! ✌
Love seeing the RR’s thrashed and ragged about.
Rolls Royces are amazing. Sound cool - silent! :)
I remember seeing the Chevy V8 Matiz at Brands Hatch in around 2005 at the WTCC event, mental thing, great build :D The RR's left me dead inside.......
That Caterham driving was just GLORIOUS
The Jag made me smile
I fell asleep while the Rolls Royce came .... Everything was suddenly quiet. Very thrilling i must say xD
Oh my God...the Cullinan...hahaha. That was friggin EPIC!
Absolutely brilliant 👍😀
Sub'd. Those guys in the Raptor and the Cullinan. Everything I know about driving fast tells me to never drive any SUV that fast ,holy F.
Respect, nice seeing stuff ragged you would never normally see 👍
That Caterham is simply amazing, a purist's mandatory car for his collection
That first Alfa was beautiful
Three Dorito Peugeot. Glorious.
5:15 love the sound of the bushes, air going by
the Rolls-Royce that was fun watching them.
That rotor at the end 😀 awesome video
Not much of Rollie fan, but I was impressed with the way that cullinan handled👍
I loved this one !!!
04:20 Felt sick at the thought of the repair bill if he'd stacked that Roller into the wall!
And don't forget about the repair bill for the wall itself in that case.
Have a driver pov in there is so cool!
Awesome thanks 😊 😎
The rotary Pug is awesome, what a noise!
Notice how the Rolls Royce’s have massive V12’s but you still can’t hear a thing other than the tires. Now that’s luxury
That rolls royce was speeding with a comfort..i mean i literally can feel the comfort the way it moving .
How did that RR Truck not flip had me nervous 😬
Nothing makes me happier than seeing museum pieces thrashed at their absolute limit.
Brilliant 👏👏👏👏👏
Awesome 😎👍
Lot of faith on 2 rows of hay bails!
Rolls Royce got proper "THRASHED" in Post's White Iversion 😁👍
Had to rewatch the Caterham 620R. Unreal speed
It would be great to have a beer with the Jaguar driver!!!
that 1st gen jag was sick
I need more onboards
Caterham 620r is just a rocket ship, bloody love it !
The guy in the Caterham was beyond “rad”. You can already tell he’s enjoying his time. Shifting late and letting it bounce of limiter a million times. 😂
If it's a car then its made to be driven 💯💯
Finally, I have seen an Alfa that I actually desire.
That rotary Peugeot at the end; put it in my veins.
Vincent Foucart what a legend, to have equal ability as an engineer and a driver is quite something. What a legend.
That caterham onboard shot was awesome
I thought my phone had bust when the Cullinan came on with next to zero noise 🤣
That Alpha Romeo at the start…😍
Nice sounding 20b in that 205 built by PPRE in New Zealand!
I need to go to England for one of these events!!!
jag saloons were bank robber's favorite
The were until the transit came along , for the time transit were fast , handled well and could carry more than the jag
The Caterham pov was amazing
THE JAG --- Doing American burnouts is my pandemic vibe
Love FOS and Revival.
Would love to go this year, but tickets have sold out 😭 for FOS
Hot damn, that Caterham guy's gear change game is next level
I need more onboard Caterham runs in my day, my oh my
That V8 Alpha is stunning
That roys roys machine was fast
Honestly, if I didn’t really know about Rolls Royces and that they had a big V12, I’d think they were electric with all that sound deadening they have in the car.
Dude that "Aston Martin" Go Cart looks like a Smart on ROIDS 🤣🤣
That RR-BB was sailing
The Alfa😍
That black cab was quick.
Cool vid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It’s crazy how the rolls’ have some of the biggest engines still in modern cars and they make basically no noise at all
The rolls royce at the end is a real stalth bomber.
