Nice video! Cool to see as I've pretty much followed this path even without watching. Went from a g29 to Moza R5 bundle, after the shifters quit on me and I had been looking to upgrade for quite a while. It obviously is an amazing upgrade and to me the 5 nm is enough, at least for now :) . Got the Moza break mod, which I think is mandatory. And then the ES formula wheel mod, and agree here too, it's a really good upgrade for the pricepoint if you like that kind of cars. Now I'm waiting for the Alien Mod load cell, which I'm pretty excited for. And having the KS wheel as my endgoal. For now. This, with a DIY wooden rig makes for a really nice budget rig with a pretty nice premium feeling here and there.
I'm still on the Logitecht G27 and looking around for something new. However I fixed the Logitech once (the rotary encoder failed) and now it won't break so I have no excuses to replace the wheel yet. I today stumbled upon Moza and watched a few video's of yours and now I'm really wanting to buy an R5.
@ardonjr thanks for watching! The R5 is good but if you have been on the G27 for long enough to break it, I think you should try and go for something a little higher torque ideally around the R12 / alpha mini arena as I think those bases will last you a very long time in comparison!
Same, but after watching several reviews i ended up getting the R5 with all the add-ons, a 3DRap clutch mod and the brake loadcell. And their uprated springs all round.
When I got moza R5, I ended up tearing my g27 pedals apart and using the springs (I had aftermarket progressive one for the brake) and their plastic shells to improve SRP-lites. 😊 Anyway, moza is a quality item and feels better, silent operation being the main advantage!
I went straight to Moza R9, with ES wheel+12"mod for rally and KS wheel for GT/Formula racing. Moza SRP pedals + clutch and brake performance kit. Moza seq shifter and Moza handbrake. Bolted it all to a Trak Racer TR8 pro with the recliner seat. And a 40" MSI ultrawide 1440p monitor. The ES wheel is good for rally, but not that good for GT/Formula racing (do to the buttons are totaly out of reach). For rally, all the buttons you need are the whipers and lights really.
there is a Simpush 13-inch round wheel mod for the ES Wheel which is lighter than Moza's wheel. however the paddle shifter they provide is a stick-on and not the screw-in type which Moza's 12-inch provide
@Lenwanxin thanks for sharing, good to have more options, IDK if that offers anything over the Moza version? Looks a little cheap from my first impressions, but maybe thats the selling point if its much cheaper?
Hi there, I am also modding the accelerator pedal with the 3DRap throttle pro kit for the SR-P Lite/SRP, for 35 Euro. There are some very good reviews for it. BTW, thank you for this video, it is very helpful!
I've been on the fence about the Formula wheel for my R5 bundle because of the shipping costs and horrible things I've heard of Moza's delivery times, but it's back on the wishlist now lol
@SkillIssueRacingChannel it was not a big deal for me, but really wish I got it earlier I love this style of wheel so much! See if you can find a local distributor, works out much better!
Hey so I’m gonna get the r3 for my Xbox since I can upgrade my pedals and base right bit the wheel I was wondering if moza will make a f1 wheel that’s quick release for Xbox I am gonna get a PC soon for that but how long does switching the formula wheel back to the main wheel I will use that for a trucking game
@Mikey27R yeah for xbox you can only use the XBOX ES wheel, you could get two... but as @pizzaparty3335 it doesn't take too long to change them over. I have one round wheel and one GT Wheel and like to have both on QR.
@yalisalman5866 yes it is, but I would not recommend it, see my KS video but it will probably feel too weak on the R3 due to the increased width of the KS.
What wheelbase did you upgrade to, another Moza? I've been looking at the R5, but the load-cell in SRP pedals looks appealling (as does R9 for some additional force if I get bigger wheels). There's quite a price jump from R5 to R9+SRP though and I'm not sure if it's worth it.
@DanTup I got a VRS wheelbase after much research! I have another video on it. I think the main answer to your question will be whether you are racing at a desk, and if you plan to get a rig in the near term. If you just want to race at a desk then a more powerful base and a loadcell pedal set will cause you a headache anyway, so just get started with the cheaper stuff! If you want a rig in the near term then R12 + Loadcell will give you everything you need, but thats a lot of money! Its also not a bad time to look for used gear at good prices!
@@MichaelSmithRaces thanks, that one is probably out of my price range 😄 I'll check out the video though. I'm currently racing on a desk (with Logitech G920), I'm planning to get a rig with the change to either R5 or R9 (both because of pedal movement and the chair spinning 😄). The R5+perf kit is approx £487 and the R9+SR-P+ES wheel is approx £675 so I guess I'm trying to decide whether the load cell and the increase from 5 to 9nm is worth the ~£190 more. I think my biggest concern is that the G920 already has a rubber bung in the pedal, so the R5 pedals without kit I'm certain would feel _worse_ than the logitechs.. But I don't know if the perf kit will make up for that if I'll end up regretting not having the load cell. Used in an option, but I don't like the idea of not having a warranty for this kind of money.
@@MichaelSmithRaces thanks, that's the conclusion I think I'm coming to (especially when the difference is a smaller percentage when you add the cost of the rig to the total 😄)
@@johngraham1763 Are you still happy with your setup? Im looking to get into an R3, since I'm mostly focusing on Xbox as well. I figure you can swap it for an R5, 9, etc in the future.
@AR11-USA I was so confused at first on your comment! - In the video I said "I slept ON these" as in I overlooked buying them, I can see that my prununciation and use of slang is confusing. But I would sleep in them, I'm often sim racing in my dreams :D

The wheel is what gives it Xbox compatibility so yes the load cell will work on the box. You could use an R5 base w the box if you have the wheel w the Xbox symbol on it

Thanks for the rundown, I absolutely agree!
PS. Amazing setup you have behind!
All the gear, no idea!
Had Moza r3 can't wait to buy Truck Wheel for my additional upgrades! For PC
@phatzil84 gah, I don't have Moza anymore but still want that truck wheel!!! :)

Taking off the screws and putting f1 mod takes like 2 minutes if you master it

Hello friend, hugs from Brazil, can you tell me if the es formula mod is compatible with the R3 for Xbox?
@gustavolara8836 yes it is compatible! Moza confirmed that with me previously
I know it sounds silly but can you use the formula mod on the r3 and the brake mod? I’m looking to buy both but want to know if it would work?
@luca-no.77 soz I didnt reply sooner but yes you can use both with the R3!
