@RoadsideRC my gyro turns on once I power up the esc the gyro red light blinks quickly then there's no led lights and the gyro doesn't work l'm i doing something wrong? Everything is plugged correctly
If someone is just starting, I'd highly recommend Normal Mode and Hard(Red LED) with gyro set between 80-90 percent. This will allow you to transition faster and won't hold you back. If you have the V4 and your servo wobbles at these settings, you need either a better servo or to turn up the torque value on said servo, if it's adjustable.
I honestly need someone to walk me threw all the setting customizations on my radio and all that. I'm new but believe I have a decent set up. Maybe it's because I'm new to it but I feel like something is off because it's super hard to drift. If anyone can help I'd appreciate it so much!

Hello, I'm building my first RC drift, I would like your help. Can I use this gyroscope on a Sakura D5 chassis? Can I use this gyroscope with any radio control? And finally, which servo would you advise me to use with this gyroscope?
(1) Yes - it will work on any RWD rc drift car chassis. (2) No. You will need a controller that can discretely set the endpoints of an auxiliary channel. You saw me doing that in this video. (3) I recommend this servo: ruclips.net/video/8d72Wlw9ecM/видео.html
Thanks for the question! I don't believe that there is a "correct" ride height. Many folks throw around the 5-6mm number - but I don't believe that is true for all cars. Here is a video where I was tuning the suspension with different springs. My focus: let the shocks sit somewhere in the middle of the travel, allowing for movement up and down based on the needs of the car. ruclips.net/video/rmUvzAWUBEo/видео.html

You have any more exact information on this yet? Im lookong for a gyro that will do slow return...but no steering assist..i just need the gyro to hold angle and not wobble at high gain...but i want to be able to counter steer...
Not sure what exact information I left out...can you clarify? Depending on your definition of "steering assist", all gyros have this. It is part of the definition of what the gyro is doing. Many have settings where you either turn into the corner, or countersteer. But you will never be fully countersteering the car. From your comment, I am not clear that your expectation for a gyro is realistic or aligned with the technology. Happy to help more, but not 100% sure what you are really looking for.
@@RoadsideRC is there anything that will let the wheels return slow to center like it does on assist/acvs mode..but still retain the counter steer properties of normal mode? I know gyros add assist in general as their purpose...would be pretty brain dead to to think other wise.
@m4rkyfresh Thanks for the clarification. Sometimes it is hard to get the exact nuance of a message through these short messages. To get the exact feel you are looking for - I would suggest considering the tuning of both the gyro AND the servo. A servo like the ReveD RS-ST can be tuned with anti-shake directly in the servo. This may allow you keep the gyro in a mode you like and change the dampening in that way. The other option is to step up to the Futaba GYD550 paired with a 7px or 10pxr. When paired together, you can basically make that gyro do whatever you want! But - that solution is pretty expensive if you factor in the radio.
@@RoadsideRC and my response was a little brass... apologies...I started a thread on super g Facebook page and the 550 absolutely is what I was gathering might be able to obtain those abilities..just yea...the price tag...and I really like my noble...I have a 24 scale and 43 scale that both drift the way im describing... believe it or not even with cheap servos. I guess that's why I'm so pressed to find that feeling in 1/10. Thank you for the response I appreciate it.
Hey Troy, coming at you because the community has me up in the air on a gyro decision. If you were me what would you pull the trigger on in this situation? Scenario: MST RMX 2.5S Futaba 3PV tx, ProTek PTK 140 servo. Old Oniski gyro with no options to set endpoints (main reason for upgrading). Since I’m buying new I don’t mind spending up to $150 on this upgrade. If you were me, would you go with the Futaba GYD470, the Yokomo V4, or something completely different?? Thanks in advance, your vids have helped immensely so far.
@@RoadsideRC I had seen some day that particular model can be complicated, but if you’ve done a video on it I’m sure I’ll be golden lol. Thanks for the help!
when i start my yokomo yd2zx, then my wheels going full left and i don’t know how to fix it? any solution, please? one servo already broken, it was very hot lol
Hi Troy My gyro was goes in the wrong direction when I started. How to fix it? I tried to reverse from the remote but still doesn’t work. I’m using 3 PV, and yokomo V4
I have a question. Would this gyro work for controllers without a screen on it? I’m currently using a dumborc x6 and I want to install the DP-302 V4. Would that work or would it not.
A screen is not what you need. That is not the important part. What is important is a channel that you can control 0-100 in fine adjustments. The DumboRC radios *almost have this on channel 5 & 6. You can control it there - but you have no precise control. Yes - you can get started with this gyro and that controller, but you will want to quickly upgrade controllers.
Noob here been following your for a few weeks setting up my first build (tt02d), love your content and the topics you cover. Question: you mention at one point the hard/soft channel is connected to ch4 and then later in the vid you mention the gain is connected to ch3. Is that accurate? I have my gyro on ch3 and the default knob on the transmitter for ch3 is the VR1 knob . So it sounds like that is just for hard/soft mode, so if that’s the caseI’m not sure how to adjust the gain as ch4 on my receiver is empty. Any guidance? I’m sure I’m just confused lol thanks again for all your vids, helping me progress, really appreciate it.
Hi there! A few notes: 1) I must have mis-spoke (it happens). There is nothing plugged into channel 4. Gain is set via channel 3. And yes, one of the modes can be switched by having channel 3 in positive or negative. The other setting is a physical switch on top of the gyro. 2) You mention a TT02D. Are you doing a RWD conversion on it? If not - you do not need to worry about a gyro at all. An AWD drift car does not need a gyro.
@@RoadsideRC awesome thank you for the reply, appreciate it. Yes I am in the process of doing a RWD conversion. I have a locked rear differential and a Front one-way unit, still figuring out what else I might need or if that will suffice to make it RWD
I've been told the shutter of the steering is tied to bad front end setup and you shouldn't need to put it in assist but I can get rid of it at all on my Sprint 2
That can contribute to it for sure. My old RMX had a lot of slop in the rod ends. Reducing that slop helped with wobble for sure - but will not eliminate it. Going to "assist" or "AVCS" in Futaba language is a game changer in my opinion. It just get a negative connotation due to it being called "assist".
@RoadsideRC my gyro turns on once I power up the esc the gyro red light blinks quickly then there’s no led lights and the gyro doesn’t work I’m i doing something wrong?
@seanjay00 In this video, I show you how I set it up. Whatever channel you plug it into, you have to tell it what gain % to be at. Example: if you have it plugged into channel 3, then you set the value of channel 3 to the percentage you want. This is frequently under end-point setting, or just the value of that channel. What controller are you using?
Perhaps - but it is specifically designed for drifting. Designed to help you stay sideways once you get there. You want something that is more meant to keep you straight.
So I get green and red flashing lights indicating it's ready to be set I turn wheels to either side to set end point and when I hit the end point button it just stay flashing green and red I'm stumped
@@RoadsideRC thanks... Then I go into the garage to give it a rip and the rear axle came apart and I lost the holding pin found it after 10 minutes then put it back together and used thread lock on the allen set screw

I just bought drift gyro DP-302v4, but I can not find anywhere the information about the input voltage for gyro. Can I use 7.4v from receiver with the Yokomo DP-302v4 gyro as power in?
The gyro is 100% powered by the receiver when you plug it into it. You mention 7.4V - so I wanted to ask about that. The receiver gets the power from the ESC. The ESC typically provides 6V to the receiver (it steps down the voltage from the battery). Are you trying to run higher voltage?

Nope - there are no drift electronics that are capable of HV input. Good news: you also don't need HV in a drift car.
Does placement and orientation matter? I saw somewhere to put it as low to ground as possible and in center.
As long as you keep the gyro away from vibrations (motor and servo), you are fine. No need for it to be low and centered. It can go anywhere.

All of my tips are in this video.
(3) I recommend this servo:

Do you talk about the correct way to adjust ride height in any of your videos? RMX 2.0. Thanks!

@@RoadsideRC thank you I’ll check it out! Does this physically how how to adjust the height?
Wow what color paint is that blue chrome body at the beginning of the video?
Honestly - not my body, so I don't know.
If you search, you will find some folks who do the how-to on creating the chrome look.

Great video,i like the color body. Is that Tamiya PS paint?
That is a special blend - you can find the guy on eBay and Facebook who paints and sells them.
@@RoadsideRC thanks buddy🙏
Why is the servo midpoint return so slow? Is that something thats desirable?
Yes! It is a setting that helps reduce gyro wobble.
Honestly - you have the budget to go GYD550...and it really is as good as it gets.
@@RoadsideRC I had seen some day that particular model can be complicated, but if you’ve done a video on it I’m sure I’ll be golden lol.
Thanks for the help!

You recommend this gyro for 4wd hpi sprint 2
You do not need a gyro for a AWD car.
when i start my yokomo yd2zx, then my wheels going full left and i don’t know how to fix it? any solution, please? one servo already broken, it was very hot lol
1) take the servo horn off.
2) power on the car.
3) center steering trims
4) re-install the servo horn with the wheels pointed straight.
Hi Troy
My gyro was goes in the wrong direction when I started. How to fix it?
I tried to reverse from the remote but still doesn’t work.
I’m using 3 PV, and yokomo V4
The gyro has a reverse feature...or you turn the gyro around 180*
You see the little switches on the gyro? Check those out.
Trying to set up Yokomo gyro up with the TP4M but it’s flashing then shutting off?
Double-check all of the connections - make sure no wires are plugged in backwards or into the wrong slots.
Also - ensure you gain is not set to zero.
@@RoadsideRC have a green light now. Is channel 3 already on on the 4PM out of box?
@@codyburnsstreetspeedphotog2468 Hmm. What do you mean by "on"?
I have a question. Would this gyro work for controllers without a screen on it? I’m currently using a dumborc x6 and I want to install the DP-302 V4. Would that work or would it not.
A screen is not what you need. That is not the important part.
What is important is a channel that you can control 0-100 in fine adjustments.
The DumboRC radios *almost have this on channel 5 & 6. You can control it there - but you have no precise control.
Yes - you can get started with this gyro and that controller, but you will want to quickly upgrade controllers.
@@RoadsideRC alright, thank you
Noob here been following your for a few weeks setting up my first build (tt02d), love your content and the topics you cover.
Hi there!
A few notes:
1) I must have mis-spoke (it happens).
@@RoadsideRC also planning on getting the Yeah Racing RWD Drift conversion kit
have you paired there servo with it? sp02d v2?
Never run one of their servos in my personal cars, but driven plenty of other folks cars.
@@RoadsideRC I went with the rev d sense your review, I'm sure this won't be my last build
I just installed mine and the steering servo doesn’t center it’s self when I let go of the controller. It’s a stock mst rmx 2.5 rtr servo
It may not fully center. Don't worry about it doing that on the workbench. Only worry if it hurts how the car drives.
Can we get a video on the OMG V4 GYRO PLEASE 🙏🙏🙏🙏
I can add it to the list!
Hey troy, my gyro just has solid blue, red and green lights and i have no steering any at all. Any idea whats going on?
Double-check how it is plugged in. Sounds like something isn't connected correctly.
I've triple checked my connections, the servo works without the gyro hooked up (reved RSST). I'm starting to think I have a compatability issue
@RoadsideRC my gyro turns on once I power up the esc the gyro red light blinks quickly then there’s no led lights and the gyro doesn’t work I’m i doing something wrong?
Sounds like the gyro gain is set to zero. That will turn the gyro off.
How do I turn it on because on the gyro I turned it to the left then to the right and I still see no light and no respond
@seanjay00 Do you have the gain channel plugged into the receiver and setup to be controlled in that way?
Not sure I do have it plugged but not sure how to setup that way
@seanjay00 In this video, I show you how I set it up.
Whatever channel you plug it into, you have to tell it what gain % to be at.
Example: if you have it plugged into channel 3, then you set the value of channel 3 to the percentage you want.
This is frequently under end-point setting, or just the value of that channel.
What controller are you using?
I busted my MST gyro and now I got a new gyro and I can't make the wheel turn correct way. Need help.
I would need a lot more information to guide you. Do you have a video on your channel to show/explain what is happening?
Could this be used for drag racing?
Perhaps - but it is specifically designed for drifting. Designed to help you stay sideways once you get there. You want something that is more meant to keep you straight.
@@RoadsideRC I know everyone around here use Futaba gyros but is like secret 😅 nobody say nothing about it
So I get green and red flashing lights indicating it's ready to be set I turn wheels to either side to set end point and when I hit the end point button it just stay flashing green and red I'm stumped
Interesting. I have not had that before.
Does it work correctly otherwise?
@@RoadsideRC I had had the steering trim to the right turned all the way up which was causing the gyro to not take the input

It does not.
can i use this with a 2ch radio?
Yes, as you can set the gain directly on the gyro - however, I don't recommend it. The control you get with a better radio is 100% worth it.

@@RoadsideRC thanks. I’m just trying to get one that’s not to expensive , trying to avoid the gyro wobble
@@hondacivicacura Gyro wobble is much more about the quality of the gyro than the servo - but does play a part.
Will the v4 burnout stock servo?
There is a chance of that, yes.
@@RoadsideRC I'm guessing that's what happened lol figured... I really didn't want the v4 but wanted to give it a go since the gyd450 is hard to come by now a days. I have an extra mst servo and the one u have from Amazon. Guess gonna have to go with a reved
I know this an old comment but I put this gyro in my rmx rtr with the stock mst servo, it took the servo out before I could get it set up. Completely trashed and locked up. Just a heads up.
@@pauldziedzic1791 yeah learned that the hard way.. on purpose.. wanted to defy the rumors.. but ended up being fact
Is it possible to burn a stock servo by switching to a different receiver? I lost my stock servo that came with mst rmx 2.0 when I replaced the stock receiver with a Flysky FGr4v2 Receiver.
I just bought drift gyro DP-302v4, but I can not find anywhere the information about the input voltage for gyro.
Can I use 7.4v from receiver with the
Yokomo DP-302v4 gyro as power in?
The gyro is 100% powered by the receiver when you plug it into it.
You mention 7.4V - so I wanted to ask about that. The receiver gets the power from the ESC. The ESC typically provides 6V to the receiver (it steps down the voltage from the battery). Are you trying to run higher voltage?
@@RoadsideRC I mean you can set your BEC voltage on XR10 Pro or XD10 to 7.4v from default 6.0v. Thats why.
@@RoadsideRC Any idea? Because I can't find any info related to input voltage, altho 90% of other gyros have it listed under the specs.
