    My Sakura D5 build is my first drifter and the electronics were scabbed together. A DumboRC transmitter and receiver were on the shelf. Maybe someday I'll upgrade it all but I'm having a blast with the setup I've got right now.

    A funny story, I have DumboRC in all twelve of my cars, and had all of them turned off because of the gyro being backward out of the factory! I did not know how to reverse it, and even got rid of a badass little custom build because it was so powerful that without a gyro the car was uncontrollable. I have since reversed the gyro and all of the cars including my new Rlarrlo 917 are working great!

    Interesting I was running my Radiolink 4 on my Drifter when I first got it and I found it worked pretty good. Although turned up too high I did get the wobble as well. Long story short, I’d bought that gyro receiver specifically for a drifter and yeah, spend the money and buy a good gyro! The sensitivity and control will benefit you greatly versus cheapening out and trying to use a gyro receiver.

    What I’ve found out with the built in gyros on the radiolinks, the positive & negative act like the sensitivity switch found on gyros. The beginner & advanced option. Can’t remember which is which, but the negative is one sensitivity & the positive I believe is the more sensitive option. Same as when you plug in the remote channel for servos for remote adjustability & one side of the zero seems a lot more twitchy than the other

    That's true if you are using the box stock receiver and box stock transmitter with none of the latest firmware, then yes expect latency and wobble.
    For my Radiolink RC4GS V1, I've updated its firmware to v6.0.1(i haven't tried the 6.0.8 firmware yet, as I've seem to have lost all my micro USB data cables due to the Type C trend) and running R4FGM receivers.
    I've never had wobbles except at high sensitivity gains for an RC chassis with large amounts of caster angle (in my case, HPI Blitz, ikr, not a drift car but very very oversteer-y on brushless 10.5T)
    And that's firmware support even for a Radiolink transmitter i got FIVE YEARS ago, you don't see such software support for THAT long for android devices, interestingly.
    Fun fact: Dumbo RC is a direct subsidiary of Radiolink, essentially, they really are the OEM for Dumbo, so your Radiolink RC6GS v2 with box stock R7FG is definitely of of an older stock, older firmware, and version (not sure if i saw V1.2 or something on your R7FG) than your Dumbo RC set(X6FG/R6FG may be of a lower/different model than the R7FG, but highly likely the manufacturing date may be very recent at the time of your recording), that's why the gyro instructions on your Dumbo RC X6FG is exactly the same for Radiolink's OEM receivers, and that receiver's Radiolink twin is the R6FG.
    So essentially you just tested two Radiolink radio equipment of vastly different manufacturing dates!
    Eerily enough, the local drift folks in my country keeps on implying that the Radiolink stuff is really bad and discouraged me from using it for RWD drifting, while forgetting the fact that there are vastly different iterative versions for each model of RX/TX as time goes by, and there are Firmware updates at regular intervals, and the box stock firmware tends not to be that great specially if it is a freshly released Radiolink model, hence I would expect some Radiolink RC8X reviews are GOING TO *UNFAIRLY* CONLCUDE IT SUCKS.
    One more fun fact, by this time a lot of Radiolink and Dumbo's receivers will all be manufactured with digital servo capabilities giving most of their receivers a latency of a total of 4ms with telemetry off.

    • @RoadsideRC
      @RoadsideRC  Год назад +1

      Interesting information there.
      Maybe I will try again with a firmware upgrade. It would really surprise me if it was as good as a proper drift gyro - but maybe it will be better than it was before.

    • @h.cedric8157
      @h.cedric8157 Год назад

      @@RoadsideRC Thanks for tthe reply! Yes, firmware upgrade has done a lot for my RC4GS performance. I was able to update to v6.0.8 earlier today but due to heavy rains I haven't been able to go out and bash.
      Brand new, out of the box I could barely make a few meters away in terms of range, and is easily interfered by WiFi routers from other households near me.
      Yes the box stock R6FG really sucked, and receivers can't have any firmware updates obviously.
      Things changed when I got the R4FGM receivers and software update to 6.0.8
      What got me to get the RC4GS(another fun fact: it is the same mainboard as your RC6GS, mine has less switches, you can solder 2 more switches and run the latest RC6GS software and bob's yer uncle, you get an RC6GS for less!) is that it's latency is better than advertised latency of 14ms, comparable to Sanwa MT4!(there is a 960FP test video comparing both)
      I do plan converting my RC4GS to an RC6GS with 6.3.2 firmware soon.

    I don't think "negative" is really a thing for RC control. All channels of all RC controllers output signal as pulse widths from i think roughly 1000 to 2000 microseconds (picoseconds?) with 1500 being center. The actual range noted on the dial or in the digital control is usually irrelevant. 0 to 50% of the dial outputs from 1000 to 1500 and 50% to 100% outputs from 1500 to 2000. Spektrum gives me double the resolution by letting me select from -100 to 100 and that's easier for us to comprehend than the actual output. I run dumbos in some of my crawlers and if the knob goes under 50% my rear steer goes one way and above 50% goes the other. It should control a gyro with the functionality just fine. 50% should be off, 50-100 non avc, and 50-0 should be avc. Now... Diailing in a good value using a rather coarse control knob is a whole other thing!

      Old comment and whatnot but, does that mean that if you reverse a channel, it'll go into (for the sake of keeping it simple) negative or positive range? So for example if you set a futaba gyro to a knob channel on a radio, you could switch between AVCS and Normal modes by reversing the channel?

    • @tonyhoff86
      @tonyhoff86 Год назад

      @@equim8596 I am unfamiliar with that particular gear, but I believe so. Reversing a channel will cause it to operate from 2000 microseconds to 1000 microseconds rather than the other way around.

    Ur wrong about the radio Link. I solely use this gyro and feel it works excellent.

      Use it for RWD drifting?
      If so, try a proper gyro and you will see the difference!

      @@RoadsideRC yes, it's a rwd platform . Only difference is it's a 1/6th scale and is ran on regular pavement at a higher speed overall. Not confined to a tiny, shiny, ultraslippy garage floor

    What's kinda ironic is both these controllers are made by the same people and sold under various different brands😂

      That is fairly common across the RC industry.

      Neither of these controllers are good for drifting with the internal gyro.
      I also do not recommend them for drifting with a drift gyro either.

    Make an ultimate entry level drift car , Sakura D5 , surpass Hobby V3 10.5T + hobbywing 10bl60 + DumboRC transmiter with gyro .
