  • Even with the success of reducing smoking, lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide for both men and women. In 2023, there were approximately 238,000 new lung cancers and 125,000 deaths in the United States alone. In recent decades, the evolution of robotic-assisted thoracic surgery has enhanced primary lung cancer treatment and postoperative outcomes. This, in combination with advances in immunotherapy and our understanding of cancer’s molecular biology, brings many tools to the battle against the leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States.
Join Dr. Mark Dylewski, chief of general thoracic surgery at Baptist Health, and Dr. Paul Kaywin, medical oncologist at Baptist Health Miami Cancer Institute, as they discuss advances in lung cancer treatment from a medical oncology and surgical perspective.
