He is an imperialist, he maintains that US hegemony should be protected and fostered. He sees no problem with US unilateral hegemony, so he shifts the responsibility to Israel but Israel is merely an outpost, a proxy of US imperialism. It’s not the first time colonisers use proxies to control and oppress global south peoples. It’s not the first time a proxy defies the metropolis but I doubt Israel really is defying the US, US leaders are running the show.

America frankly should never have been left as the world police, it's an immature not war tired and tested nation....so niave it gave us woke....and again they cannot win wars. One thing John Mearsheimer is missing about Iran is that Iran is a deeply divided country where a group of Islamists are forcing the rest of the Iranian population into a certain ideology and lifestyle that the population rejects and as we have seen many times in recent years this divide between the regime and the people in Iran has resulted in violence multiple times, So obviously the aim would be to help with a regime change in Iran and let the population who are closer to west take power. Not saying that is easy or even possible, regime change in Iran is extremely difficult because of the horrible oppression by the regime but I'm assuming that's part of the idea Netanyahu has in mind for Iran. There are already many Iranians trying to form an opposition to the Islamic republic, and they would have millions of supporters inside the country.
