  • Full Episode of Business of Influence ft. @ramitsethi : • Ramit Sethi teaches us...
Negotiating a raise is never easy on either side of the table. Fortunately, Ramit Sethi put me on the hot seat during an episode of @businessofinfluence and revealed the secrets to successfully negotiating a raise in your salary. This topic isn't often spoken about from the perspective of the boss or CEO, so I am hoping to shed some light on what I look for when salary negotiations become the topic of conversation.

To obtain financial freedom, one must either be a business owner, an investor or both, generating passive income, particularly on a weekly and monthly basis. I've come to realize that the key to amassing wealth lies in making sound investments.

The only part of this that holds is “prepare to walk.” You won’t hear “we can’t afford to lose you.” You might hear “well, what can you do in this coming year, given the increased output to date?”

"Be the role before you are the role" sounds like law of attraction to me.... be that, feel that, be love if you want to be loved, etc. And i can say by me changing and STICKING TO IT there's a big difference. Cuz you'll be it and lose it because you stopped being it. Also people normally say i don't get paid to do that, well you'll never get paid to do that if you don't do that

Ryan is cool with showing this because he knows that even if the set up the first meeting, not everyone will have the ability to pull off the transformation also that if they can pull it off it means that they are worth giving a raise to because they generate more value for the company.

You have to justify and prove your worth to the company. I don't hire anyone that I don't think will rise to that occasion or that I won't help get there 💪🏼

Ryann why would you have an issue with this? This is essentially teching your employees to make you MORE MONEY. Now they become more valuable to you and as a result you should pay them more. Its not a hack to confuse your boss it's actually providing more value. That's great!

Even though I love Ryan more than anything in this platform, I must be really honest and share that this tips only work when you work in corporate environments. Most people that work in low skill or small local businesses will rather hire someone else than recognize the extra value that you are providing. I'm a living proof because it happened to me in the past.

This is cute on paper and in theory but its more like ur NEW boss WHO KNOWS NOTHING trying to tell you to take things off his plate which is what happened to me, speaking of NBA I legit told him “i got to get paid before i play like lebron james” (its a rap lyric lol) “ohh idk how you can do these tasks ETC etc” i knew it was time to look elsewhere

If they give you a form that asks you to rate yourself, give yourself the highest marks on everything. It's human nature to be humble and give yourself low marks. Don't give low marks.

    • @jessicaburroughs5763

Disagree. as a manager, I know my best people are the ones that see room for improvement. We were always making less profit, and meeting less targets when employees rated themselves more highly, and the company's progress more highly. I think the ideal is rate themselves highly day to day, and feel good about each shift, and rate below average on the long-term, or overall because there's room for improvement and growth.

Rayan, that’s a brilliant advice if you work for some company. What if you are the real estate agent, and you are trying to negotiate your commission with the seller?
I am afraid it doesn’t work like this for simple reason, especially if you cannot say “hi, my name is Rayan Serhant” ;) - joking aside there is a bunch of agents on the market with a very cheap fee and mostly do the same job which you can do (the seller doesn’t spot any perquisite).
Obviously, I know you made some podcasts about negotiations, but it seems to be a different topic for a dedicated podcast perhaps, regarding getting high REA commission.
    Any advice ? Please? 😀

    • @AllanDeutsch
      @AllanDeutsch 9 месяцев назад +1

Give them a better deal. Are you better than the other agent? Great! That can be measured by sale price of their home.
Let's say they want to sell their home for 100k, but you think you can do 120k. Instead of charging 1-3% like other agents, take 0% for any sale under 110k, and 3% on 110k + 10% on anything higher. So if you sell 120k you get 3% of 110k plus 10% of 120k. And now you have a lot of incentive to sell their property higher, because if you don't you get nothing, and if you do a great job you get paid a lot more.

That is not how it works, nobody will motivate themselves by not being paid well. If you want something, you pay for it. If you dont pay, you dont get it. That easy. Go to a hardware store and say I give you 60% for the saw, they will laugh at you. You dont get things for free and if CEOs the better people, would understand that, then it would be much less of a problem for everyone. If you want my expertise, and time, and motivation, and health, you pay for it first. Then you can complain, no other way around.

This is great advice! I have had this conversation with multiple employees before and most people just dont want to take initiative and just want a raise because they do. They dont comprehend that the raise they would be getting would be higher if they did what is mentioned in this video.
