Hello, I just bought the Reolink 4k 8mp NVR kit on Amazon that comes with 4 of these 4k 8mp cameras and 2tb NVR system. Did you use the cat5 cables or did you upgrade to cat6? Are the cat5 good enough or should I upgrade to cat6 or cat7? Thanks Also all of my cable runs are under 150 feet in length. Thanks for your time.
You can use Cat 5, 6 or 7 but Cat 5 is plenty capable as these cameras only have 100Mbps interfaces and the speeds they run are a lot lower than that. I usually use Cat 5e. It is gigabit capable but I don't anticipate future security cameras using anywhere near that much data so it should be future proof.
