Great review Travis, thanks. The little guy looks like he loves the plane ride. 👍
Definitely more than just a ride, he had him fly most of the time once they were up.
Walking around with the 200ft ethernet cable is pure genius. That didn't even cross my mind. Thank you!
I used to try to use a phone or some other camera but thought, wait.... :)
Thanks for the heads up about the 'show alarm videos only' setting. I hadn't noticed that and it's a godsend!
Happy to help!
Just bought the Rlk8-510b4A set and 2 RLC0520A Version 2. MOving to my new home in two weeks.
The interface looks fantastic very modern and clean!
I think so too!
Thanks for a great security cam video. I appreciate it!
Great review. Going to buy a set of 4 including NVR after looking at this.
Awesome! As always check the page here for new firmware. Also update the cameras too. They have a procedure in their documentation to put the firmware on a usb stick to update the cameras via the NVR. support.reolink.com/hc/en-us/sections/360002374874-Firmware
The smile on that little boy at the end ... priceless!
You can't recreate that moment he realizes he is the one tipping the wings. I would probably have that same smile if I was in the seat.
Great video thanks again. Love the plane ride too!!!
Thanks! I clipped a good bit of it but it was awesome to watch him teach my son how to bank, climb, etc then let him fly it most of the time (of course away from traffic, obstacles, etc with his fingers a split second away). Never did that myself but now I want to!
Looks great! The new Person/Vehicle AI seems to work really well. Im looking to sell my current (uninstalled Reolink) setup and purchase this new one.
Thanks for the really great explanation.
Yes bought it now thank you
Oh wow I have a good news for you, Reolink team linked me to your RUclips channel for installation.
Wow! That's great!
$80 off on Amazon today, I just ordered mine
I have 13 reolink cams 😀 i love Them, so simpel. I will try the new 8mp with time lapse soon.
really helpful content !
Excellent down to earth review.
Thank you kindly!
@@digiblurDIY You are welcome.
The alarms only feature in the app is very valuable. Love that.
Yes it is! Cuts down massively on the false positives.
hi great info thank u unable to get it in England at the moment i will purchase it when its here thanks once again
20:10 love the Splunk shirt! 😆
I finally got some reolink cameras from a suggestion you made to me a year ago....I got the poe ones...they are great and easy to set up.....thanks again!
Btw i actually like hearing you say tasmoto. :) the pronunciation of any of it is irrelevant.
Hahaha... I have fun with it at times. Those motorolas got me.
Great vid
That Hurricane footage helped me sale a Reolink System install.
Keep in mind because I am asked this a lot since this is my profession and this happens with Comcast/Xfinity users. The Cloud portion of the Camera System just lets the DVR/NVR or even a IP Camera push it's video feed out so you as the user can remotely see it when you're not at Home. It's a more secure way then the old traditional Port Forwarding. Now From time from time the Cloud will send a "ping" to the Camera Device to see if it is still online. For some silly reason Comcast/Xfinity will flag this as a intrusion and warn you about it. It's nothing to worry about and there is no way to stop it from bugging you.
I never adjusted them or even cleaned them for that matter. I am really shocked the mics still worked as they filled with water too. The footage I had here was later than the live stream as the ISP dropped and the battery kept going until 2am.
The roofers did knocked out of adjustment a little bit with tar paper but no big deal.
Good to know. Haven't run into that yet.
Quality looks amazing
Once you go cameras you can't go back. Quickly spoiled us.
Enjoyed your video review very much. Thanks a lot! Do you think one or two of these cameras dedicated to different directions on a residential street could get clear vehicle and license recognition at NIGHT from 45 to 60 ft away if they were zoomed in correctly and placed near the street at a good angle? Cars would be stopped or moving under 15 mph or so.Thinking about mounting three on my house and two trying to catch shenanigans to parked cars in front of my house. What do you think?
Maybe if close enough but you would be better with ALPR cameras designed to read plates at night. Most typical cameras blow put the plates as they are too bright.
MQTT Alerts is the only thing holding me back from buying an NVR, if Reolink adds this functionality they have my money, through your Amazon store may I add!
Agreed. Just wish one of these NVRs would give Motion Detection binary's that would integrate into HA without having to go the Blue Iris direction.
@@brianhank7148 why not use the cameras binary motion sensor in HA?
What am I missing?
Good video.
i work for a security, and i too have reolink cams. NO ISSUES. i do tech support for them, and all day everyday about 50 percent of the calls i take are about customers cameras not working. and i gotta say, they are WAY more difficult to reconnect. they better do something amazing soon because people are getting sick and tired of paying sometimes as much as 71 dollars a month, and thier equipment is constantly going down.
It's great with no monthly payments.
Thanks for the great video. I just ordered the RLK8-810B4-A today.
Question, I'm going to need 100' cable to reach to the NVR box for 2 of the cameras, will this cause any disruption in the feed? Also, should I go with a cat6 or is cat5 sufficient? Thanks.
No you can go up to 300 feet and be fine. It either works or it doesn't. It's not going to half degrade. The key for cabling is cat5e solid copper. Not CCA. I repeat do not fall into the copper clad aluminum trap. Solid copper for runs especially with the power requirements. Monoprice is a good brand that I have used. Cat6 isn't necessary as it is overkill for cameras given they don't even use the gigabit spec of cat5e. Here is an example amzn.to/3dGmUYZ
@@digiblurDIY Thank you for the fast reply!!! cat5e it will be.
I was going to get myself a Reolink Argus PT wifi, solar camera for my first surveillance camera. This setup looks pretty neat though. But I do have a few questions!
Where I want the four camera are four different shop buildings that are about 125 to 175 feet apart. I do have an underground cat 5e(blue) cable to two of them. Question is, will my existing cat 5e cable work for this, and how long can the runs be?
Nice video! Thanks, Tom
Yes, you could use this cable and put a switch at the end and split off to a few cameras. Spec for ethernet is 100 meters.
Could you add motion masks to block off the street and only get car alarms from your driveway? Great video thanks. I love ReoLink
Yes. Motion and even privacy masks are still available. That wasn't removed.
From the comment by Ralf Taylor with quote from Reolink - it sounds like the AI alarm does not use the grid selection filter??
I wish Reolink would offer 8 camera system with 16 channel NVR. Only way to do it is to buy it separately.
Great video! Do you know if the IA filters out dangling spider web?
Yep. That's the whole thing I love.
the look on the child's face is one very very happy Kid.... ....
He's hooked!
Do you know if any AI Reolink Camera has Corridor mode?
Great video btw.
Not that I know of, I only saw 180 degree rotation. support.reolink.com/hc/en-us/articles/900000603746-Can-I-Rotate-Camera-Image-90-Degrees#:~:text=Rotating%20image%2090%20degrees%20is,cameras%20sideways%20is%20not%20recommended.
Only watched this video twice !
(The first video of yours I’ve watch!)
May I make a suggestion (for Reolink)?
Geofencing!!
When will these NVR systems get geofencing? If at all?
I currently use Arlo Pro2 system (no sub) and find the geofencing on it really useful.
I now want to be able to record 24/7 in 4k but only get motion alerts when I’m away from home or during the night.
Also.......
I would like to know if...... on the NVR via the app, another user can be granted viewing only access to just one or two cameras on an 8 camera system?
Many Thanks......
Yes! I've been wanting the geofencing as well to tune some notifications but at least the people/vehicle thing helps reduce the annoying bugs or other notifications when you still want to know a person is in the view when you are home.
@@digiblurDIY greetings… I find myself in need of outdoor cameras, and have been binge watching your videos. I have a question. At the 17:45 mark there is a van across the street. Will this system allow you to zoom in on the license plate well enough to read it?
I don't have that exact camera located there anymore but do have them up in other locations. Let me see if I can recreate that a bit.
@@digiblurDIY thank you so much, Sir.
Thanks for the detailed video. I just received my setup today and its been helpful to get everything going. My only real issue right now is the mouse. I already had a wireless Amazon Basics mouse and it does work, but it's very choppy and inconsistent, even at the highest sensitivity. It would be okay if I were just changing to a setting one in awhile, but if I were really going through a lot of camera data it would be a nightmare to have to use it.
Is the wired one like that?
I noticed there was a front USB port. I'm having better results than the one on the back. Further testing required. =)
Might be better positioned for signal. I think they put that for easy usb flash drive access.
@@digiblurDIY Thanks for the reply. The wired one is very smooth. No issues at all. But like you, I want to use the mouse from another room so I was very discouraged for a bit. For the last 1.5 hours or so it seems to be pretty good. I noticed that after a reboot of the NVR, I have to toggle the mouse sensitivity to another position and then back to have be accurate. It was at the highest sensitivity and fairly smooth. After reboot it was still at the highest sensitivity but acting like the lowest. A quick toggle and it was performing well again. A bit finicky for sure, but if I only have to do that after a boot, that's fine.
What size screen you recommend for their NVR’s. I have my 8ch to a 32” 1080p in my store and i feel like then it’s on the 9 box layout that it squishes the image too much and makes it look funny. So was wondering what’s your take, maybe there’s a setting for that or my only option is to go bigger to take care of that
I could see that being an issue unless you were up close on the monitor. What resolution is it set to on the display?
@@digiblurDIY 1080p is what the nvr is set to put out. I have the tv up higher so i can see around my store and outside but those images look “squished” a bit. When you click one individually it looks great tho... just on the 9 screen layout that it’s bothering some
thanks for sharing your test! Actually on amazon I see controversial reviews (for the sister model RLC-510A) about false triggers of human detections (in case of rain) and also lack of triggers during the night. What would you suggest if you have to start from the scratch in April 2021? I have to integrate on my HA...so the 2 options are: buy these reolink cameras with human detection and use only the trigger or buy another set of cameras and use iris or other object detection sw? My first object is to have reliable human detection! thanks in advace!
Reolink hardware is a great value for the price. Is it great for integrating down the sensor level that some want. Not really as they don't expose all that unfortunately. Sound like you might want a software based NVR system?
Day one after installation, it rained last night. My setup is set to re-image at 1 minute intervals after a trigger. Thank goodness that I put my phone into airplane mode as it sent alerts to my email every. single. minute. for the entire rain event, which lasted over 6 hours. It took me an hour just to delete all the emails.
This seems to be an awesome system and the cameras are great, I just need to find the happy medium on the sensitivity and how to be able to view from a device that's not hooked up to the home network, as right now I can't.
Nice haircut!
Appreciate it yo!
@@digiblurDIY i'm in the same boat 🙂
Excellent video. Do you recommend the reolink NVR vs Blue Iris on Windows?
That really depends on what you want to do and the setup you want to do. I did another video before on the comparison of both.
@@digiblurDIY thanks for the reply. I want at least 12 4k cameras to start and with HA integration which looks like both can do. I'll have a look at the video you're referring to
Great review as always. Will these be compatible to my existing NVR RLN8- 410E 4K kit as an add on? Or do I need to have specific firmware?
I found this chart they had. support.reolink.com/hc/en-us/articles/900000602543-Hardware-Version-of-Reolink-NVRs
@@digiblurDIY thank you for the info.Looks like my NVR is not compatible on the list.Does that mean I can still run one of these cameras using the sd card or do I need a compatible nvr as per the chart?
Thinking it won't pass the alerts which is odd to me why they made that decision but I'm thinking if you ran the camera outside of the NVR you should still get alerts.
@@digiblurDIY Yeah, you're right. If you connect the camera to the network outside of the NVR (via POE switch or injector), then you can have the camera handle the AI alerts. And since it's on the same network as the NVR, the NVR will still see the cam and you can have the NVR handle continuous recording if you want.
Really good video thank you as I was considering this system when they introduced vehicle/person detection. But when I investigated with Reolink they confirmed to me that the vehicle/person detection is for the whole field of view. What I need is to be able to ignore vehicle passing my house and only alarm/notify when the vehicle/person crosses the boundary to my property. The only way Reolink said I could achieve this is to use the detection grid to blank out the areas I didn't want the camera to cover. This seems half a solution to me so won't be going for this system, though if anyone knows if I've been advised incorrectly by them it would be good to know. Otherwise it seems like a pretty decent system for the price.
That is normal with any camera system. If you don't want the whole field of view notifications you set the grid. It doesn't block the video itself though.
@@digiblurDIY Ah good, so the camera will record to the whole field of view but the events will only respond to the area defined by the grid. Thank you, that didn't come across in their explanation or perhaps I didn't explain myself crealy enough, but anyway thanks very much for your response
Correct. Now there is a privacy mask feature that blacks out areas of the picture if needed but that is different.
@@digiblurDIY Just thought you would like to know here is a sentence from the email I got form Reolink and why I thought what I did. "Please notice that the person/vehicle detection can't support to customize the detection area. The camera will be alarm if it detects a person or vehicle in the whole field of view of the camera." Would this be worth a specific video do you think?
@@ralphtaylor9968 that is interesting.
How many days can in continuously save video with the 2Tb included HDD using the 4 cameras?
Is there an option to continuously record in a lower quality and then start record in 4K with all the cameras installed when person/vehicle movement is detected? If so, do you know how many recordings days could it save? (I know it may vary in the 4K recording frequency, but just to have an idea)
Thanks
I can check mine once power restored to my area. I don't know of any method to make it jump up and down in recording quality.
Great reviews. Plan to buy a set of 4 cams and the NVR and setup to the office in level 4 but wondering how can I access the camera setting and view the footage from the Desktop running Windows 10 within my LAN network on the ground floor (security office) but not over the Internet, is this possible?
Yes. Totally possible. This is one of the things I love about most of Reolinks stuff. No internet is required. As long as you can access it over the internal network then it will work. They have a PC app that works pretty well. I show it towards the end.
@@digiblurDIY Thank you for the prompt reply. Buying one set now :)
@@digiblurDIY is that the same for the mobile app - ie access via LAN only to PoE cameras or NVR?
I have some reolink POE cameras already, they should work with this right? Also what kind of Home assistant integration does the reolink NVR have? Would be nice to use the person detection to turn on a light.
Yes. Older poe cameras work fine with it. Events would need to be polled using a custom component into HA. Or using the HA app to grab notifications.
He posted a link to Reolink NVRs and supported cameras: support.reolink.com/hc/en-us/articles/900000584903-Which-Cameras-can-Work-with-Reolink-NVR
Heads up the new cameras can use a 256Gb micro sd card
seems like factory default switch is a bit easy for someone to push and hold to remove all your custom settings. Yet another wire hanging/coming from the camera to
I wouldn't bother with the button at that point if I was that person. Might as well take it with you since you took it down.
Trying to decide between blue iris on my server or a NVR, just curious what made you decide on the NVR over blue iris you mentioned you were using on other videos
I haven't let my BI go. It is a little much for typical installs though where someone just needs a hardware solution.
@@digiblurDIY could both BlueIris and NVR use the same PoE camera feeds over the network? If on a switch, it’s just an IP address right?
Great Review! I am interested to find out if, say a 16 Channel NVR is inside the house, and all the cameras are plugged into an ethernet switch in our garage (Can't run cables to the house without opening up walls)... can one ethernet cable be run from the output of ethernet switch to the NVR's one of the 16 ports inputs and be able to use the system that way? (We have a pre-existing Coax Cable going the house that we don't use. I think I can use that with cable to ethernet adaptors to go from the switch to the NVR)... The rest of the camera ethernet ports behind the NVR will not be used. Will I be able to record every channel, and still see all the cameras in the app and on the monitor that uses the HDMI output of the NVR?
so here's one issue you could run into, it does work though. The bit rate. So a camera handshakes at 100 mbit up/ 100 mbit down. You can adjust the bit rates of the each camera in the settings, if you went over the 100 mbit to that one port it wouldn't work well.
@@digiblurDIY Thank you! I appreciate the quick reply.
@@gtuberb (perhaps obviously) your garage Ethernet switch would need PoE support (negotiation) to power the cameras.
I wish they had metal housings. The A.I. is pretty cool though.
The bullet style cameras are going to be metal. Stick with those.
Two questions but first question is this does not work in cold weather right? Reolink‘s website says the minimum operating temperature is -10°C. In Canada for example, the temperature drops below -20°C. Thoughts?
Most I have seen them was 15F or so here. I haven't heard of any issues from others.
Hey does this setup have the ability to select a portion of the camera image that you want triggered for notifications? Ex. Wide shot of driveway and public street, but you dont want notifications of everything on street, but you want cars and people in your driveway notified. Thanks
Yup. Definitely one of those have to have features. I use that on all the cameras.
I skipped through this, but from the looks of it, you can't set up zones of activity for alerts? If not, that's a serious shortcoming, since I've seen units where you can set the zones where you want activity to send notifications. Such as you can set your front sidewalk to set a notification, yet to ignore what's going on in the street and public sidewalk.
Yes, you can section off the pieces of the video you need like the busy street and such I have taken out.
Is there a wireless keyboard you know that will work with the nvr? Thx
Can't say that I've tried one. I did think about it for renaming stuff but just went to the phone app or PC app and did them.
Watched your review and have enjoyed Reolink for over a year and am impressed with the resolution, night vision etc, and the ability to see recordings, with great audio, through the TV -NVR; iPhone, iPad Pro and computer BUT just recently I began to receive constant disconnects with the cameras. Changed absolutely nothing. Kept rebooting, and having to scan in the QR code. But continues to disconnect and now permanently.
This has not been resolved with Reolink though they respond quickly. Tried an upgrade to the new firmware but now unable to access or "connect" even after using the scan of the code, and get into the camera system except for the TV view.. In fact I am unable to unzip the firmware file successfully through the USB required by the NVR. Nothing seems to work and am frustrated that the system is so clumsy. Unable to reconnect with WiFi connection and not sure why. Deleted and reinstalled, tried everything. Now lost my email notifications that used to be great.
Guess I am disappointed that the upgrade they claim is not so easy to upgrade or work. Appears it has literally bombed out. Perhaps I am missing something but Reolink hasn't figured it out either.
Haven't had this issue on the two installs I have access to. You can upgrade the firmware using the app or PC app too. Sounds more like an ISP or router issues though.
Using WiFi cameras could be an issue, perhaps WiFi interference?
Hi, is there any option to pull the RTSP stream of each cam behind the NVR ? Does the Webinterface show several cameras on Playback ? ( 4cam Multiview playback , like foscam ? )
Yes, you can pull the RTSP SD feeds of from the NVR. I believe you can play 4 cameras via playback.
Nice, does it do RTSP? Will be nice to view it on Homekit.
Yes, you can get JPG stills and RTSP feeds out of it just like the previous models.
The only Reolink PoE cameras that don't support RTSP and ONVIF are the B and D series cameras. All the RLC cameras support both RTSP and ONVIF.
Thanks
I was wondering if the "AI" feature would help with false notifications from trees, leaves, shadows, etc.
Absolutely.. Massive difference. I was impressed with how well it did things all locally.
@@digiblurDIY I just checked into my hardware and I would need to upgrade my NVR smh.
Got your reply.
Well how about a power pack plugged into the camera reo link
Yep. If it is just he camera power it with 12vdc.
Can you list the actions of people/vehicle being detected offered in the UI? I wonder if the camera can quickly upload a still jpeg to an FTP server and have some Python watchdog to decode camera name from filename, etc. I mean, a workaround for not having MQTT that can enable interaction with HA or NodeRED. Great video BTW. Thanks.
Great informative review! Thank you. Where can one buy this now? Amazon states it is not available until March 30, and the ReoLink site states an estimated shipping date of Feb 26.
What country? I see this one available amzn.to/3pzDVss
@@digiblurDIY Thank you. I'm in the US. I was thinking to get the bullet camera version like you tested. I thought the bullet style was better for outdoor use and the turret style was more for indoor, but I see at the link you provided that it is rated for outdoor. Do you know where to order the bullet style in this model now?
It is the same camera but just different mounts as you said. In their line of cameras I do prefer the bullets mounting hardware. I see the 5MP one but the 8mp is out of stock. Only other I know is their website and Aliexpress but seems to be out of stock too. It's a great system so I can understand why.
Buy it today , $80 off on Amazon, I just ordered mine
Do you have information on the 3tb? How many days does it hold for play back. Looked like yours only had 15 days with the 🔵
How about customer service? Does one get back to you to help? I have la view and there is NO more customer service help. By the way looking at 16ch 3tb 4K
It's hard to really tell because soooo much can impact how much storage it has from using 24/7 recording to motion only recording etc. Their website has some rule of thumbs but it is only estimated usage.
How about customers service for tech support?
Can it constantly record 24/7? because that hard drive seems a bit small for that
Yep. Sure can. H265 recordings go a long way. I have two channels recording 24/7
I want to buy these but it’s saying not in stock?? Do you know when they will be coming back into stock?? I’m using your link.
This one is in stock at Amazon amzn.to/3pzDVss
The turret one I linked looks to be on their site directly now.
@@digiblurDIY thanks just bought it, we will see if it turns up 🤞
How much video can the system hold using the 2tb hard-drive and 4 cameras? a couple of weeks?
It's going to depend on if you use 24/7 recording and many other factors but in one case using 2 at constant recording and 2 on motion it was 3 to 4 weeks.
Could those cameras be standalone, without the box? I need something local, without cloud, that can recognize objects. Is there any way to notify e.g. home assitant when an object is recognized given it doesn't have the mqtt?
Yes, look at the part of the camera hands on as I do talk about this. I haven't checked out the ONVIF profile on them separately though.
They work as standalone if you pop in a Micro SD Card so the Camera itself can act as a NVR. Thing is in Home Assistant it has no way to talk to the API correctly other then the default ONVIF protocol so it will just alert you with the standard Motion Alert. It doesn't have MQTT and you would have to setup an Automation Script for when the Motion is tripped it can Notify you with a snapshot.
Makes me wonder if the custom component can be modified to see it. But these alerts exposed via ONVIF or with MQTT would be awesome. It's all in my list of requests.
How is the motion blue at night. That is the only think holding me back from investing in reolink
Not reolinks strong point for sure. But these are sub 100 cameras included. Better to add some real light with motion floods
You know the difference between this and the RLK8-820D4-A? Which do recommend?
Same thing, it's down to preference of turret vs bullet camera. I do like the look of turrets a little more than bullets myself but it is cosmetic.
How hard is it to get the videos off the system and burn them to a DVD or upload them ?
Super easy. I just downloaded 2-3 videos off an NVR that is 3 or 4 miles away. I even uploaded them straight to google drive for the person to view and have for evidence. There are many options too, you can plug in a USB stick/drive and copy them straight to there too.
The biggest problem I still have with these camera systems is that weird pigtail. The marketing material shows nice clean single cable. But in reality that's not the case. I have a couple cameras like this and i had to zip tie the excess wiring up behind the camera. Even if you want to run a hole through the wall or ceiling and have the cable go through the mount, you have a drill a MUCH larger hole than you should just to fit that dongle and splitter through it. Kind of frustrating. They should have a POE jack that you can run the wire into and the put the back of the camera covering it. So you can drill just big enough to feed the rj45 through then terminate it and connect. If you DON'T have POE, then they should do similar to what ubiquiti does and instead of a power bring, give you a passive POE injector.
You are comparing a $200 2MP camera to a $50 5MP camera though.
@@digiblurDIY even the marketing stuff for this one doesn’t show that pigtail :) but I know what you mean
I always figured it was two fold for these companies. More expensive to weather resist an ethernet port than a wire combined with they wanted to leave it open for the average person doing installs unlike the target market of Unifi cameras has a different crowd.
@@CrankyCoder seems like Reolink wants you to use a junction box or something ugly to store the end cables?
16:42 mobile device/app use - does this work on the LAN as well? (ie no internet access)

Hello, is there feature in the phone app to notify you on your phone when there's person detected?
Yes. An example is shown in the video
Do I need to plug the NVR into my 4K monitor to view 4K or can I plug it in somewhere else and use the computer software to view play back in 4K?
You can view the 4K on the app as well.
You can plug it into a POE switch (and insert sd card in cams for recording) then view them through the pc app or even phone app.
Hello, can you tell me if i can chose a kit like that but with 12tb memory and where can i buy safetly? I live in France

@@digiblurDIY Yesterday i comanded in amazon and now i have a problem they blocked my account amazon but they took my moneys! im so angry
do u need to plug all of the cameras into the NVR or can i use the sd cards for some?
No, you can mix and match stuff if you like.
@@digiblurDIY but the only problem is that the DVR/NVR offers playback and the SD card doesn't right?
Can the HD be upgraded from 2TB to 4TB? The cost to do so?
Yep, it's just a simple hard drive inside. You could add an external eSATA drive to expand the storage or swap the internal. A 4TB is less than $100. amzn.to/3xJHelo
I had the Ring system but the alerts were too slow at times, trying to do live view was slow and half the time didn't work even with a great wifi signal, and you have to pay for recording service.
Can you recommend a POE solution that solves this AND has two way audio and a siren(the two features I loved about Ring)?
Maybe check out the Amcrest doorbell and floodlights?
@@digiblurDIY I didn't know they made those. Unfortunately, all I see is 1080p not 4k.
Not sure they make them in 1080p actually. I know they make them 5MP and 8MP - See here - ruclips.net/video/rFRntrwgT7Y/видео.html
@@digiblurDIY The only cameras from Amcrest and Reolink that I see is only 1080p, that have two way audio and siren.
The two that you just referred to do not have two way audio or siren.
Sorry. Confused on comments.
Is it wireless and can it work under glass etc in the car
Thanks
No, the system would require power under the glass in the car.
What is the AI motion detection like at night in terms of accuracy and distance?
I have had any complaints about it and it picks up my neighbor walking his dog at 4am everyday.
@@digiblurDIYHow far away is that in terms of feet?
Maybe 20 to 30 feet. I had to cut the area down as it was picking up people a couple houses down.
At about 9:20 you mention having a wifi camera attached to the NVR... How does that work? I would like to see how to set that up for my system I'm planning.
Also, can you help us figure out which Reolink models have AI?
The AI models have the A on the model number.
Setup the camera on your wifi and it scans the network.
@@digiblurDIY Thank you! Does that mean that all of the Reolink models are wifi capable, and can be paired to the NVR wirelessly if they have a power source? How is that set up?
Not all. Looks like they have a chart of their brands. support.reolink.com/hc/en-us/articles/900000584903-Which-Cameras-can-Work-with-Reolink-NVR
@@digiblurDIY Awesome man, thanks for the fast replies! So I should be able to pair the wifi camera to the NVR, that's cool. Do you have a video on that, or would that be something you'd consider making? I just found your channel but I'm subscribed and loving the content!
I need to do a 75 ft run do they include enough cat cable for that?
That would be just short of the 60 ft cables included. You can use any other cat5e cable up to 300 ft. Make sure it is listed as solid copper. Monoprice has some good cables.
@@digiblurDIY I was looking around while planning and I think I can find a more central location for the nvr so that no run is longer then 60 feet.
hey just a quick thing how are these camera's when it comes to reading reg plates on cars. is there a certain distance where the reg plate becomes unreadable?
During the night you really need a LPR camera as IR blows out most cameras.
@@digiblurDIY thank you for that :) ive just purchased this system and have looked at recording sizes. At 24/7 recording im only gonna get a week out of it. Im looking at getting a western digital purple but am struggling to find any esata cases for the drive. Any you reccomend? I live in the uk
Can I connect WiFi Reolink cameras to their nvr so I only plug 🔌 it in? If so what WiFi camera would you recommend and which nvr system would you recommend?
Also I though Reolink free cloud is only limited to one camera? Do you need a subscription for more than one camera?
Yes, you can connect other network cameras whether they are WiFi or networked on the other side of the machine.
@digiblurDIY Did you try the onvif integration with Home Assistant? It should pull the motion alerts as motion sensor.
Hikvision has AI model. Unfortunately , hikvision integration and even onvif integration only pull out any motion detection without AI filter. I wonder if this reolink system does better
I haven't tried the ONVIF profile with them separately yet, only the streams at this time are exposed on the NVR unfortunately.
I have a mixed marriage of Hikvision and Reolink Cameras on my house and I have them on Home Assistant with the ONVIF Integration and it just gives you the typical Motion Detection with no AI filters. It does treat it as a Motion Sensor.
With my setup I have the Cameras going continuous recording with the AI filters and when I review video and if the AI misses something I can watch it from the continuous recording.
@@digiblurDIY the motion sensors don’t usually come up until the first motion detection.
I will give it a shot again and see.
How did you like the RLC-520A Turret vs the Amcrest 4k turret?
For standalone usage or with software NVRs. The Amcrest all day. Check out my comparison video. Now with the Reolink NVR I would say the Reolink cameras.

@@digiblurDIY what about as far as video quality?
@digiblurDIy do it record 24/7 or olny in motion
All your choice per camera and even by schedule.
how quickly has your storage filled up if your doing a 24 hour recording setup
Depends largely on the amount of movement in the image, complexities of it for compression combined with how many you have going. On one with 3 cameras going 24/7 I don't see getting a couple weeks being a problem.
Does this system record audio from the cameras?
Yep. You can hear it on some of the clips.
Are the 4k network cables cat5e or cat6?
4K cameras actually still handshake at 100mbit and barely touch the bandwidth available on that. 5e handles gigabit with ease. It laughs at the 100mbit. Cat6 for cameras would only need to be used in locations with very high interference issues.
8:15 can you add a PoE switch between the NVR and cameras? (For long distance or segment runs)
Yes. You can have the switch not behind the NVR as well.
they have POE injectors for long distance, i believe
I can you make a zone for them to trigger the record?
Yes.
Hi
I have this same system installed now for a few days.
I have turned down the sensitivity to medium but getting a lot of false triggers at night with flying insects.
I think the IR backlight is attracting them.
Do you get this ?
thanks
I haven't had this except on the non vehicle/person detection cameras. It is typically common for any camera with IR though to attract insects. In areas where it has been bad, I've turned off IR and/or used a separate IR light to bathe the area.
@@digiblurDIY ok, this is the rcl-810a cameras. i would not normally call this insect season, thats for us is august. But looking at the triggers its constant throughout the night with bugs flying over or near lens. what separate flood ir lamps do you recommend ? thanks
Does it give false person or vehicle notifications? I really don't have any to recommend as it has been a while and just used based on the coverage area I needed.
@@digiblurDIY 90% of time its just a motion alert, but every now and again its a person / vehicle alert.
Hi. How to live view on my tv without using hdmi? Let's say nvr is 10meters away from tv. is there a way, smart tv or not?
You can check if your TV has the ability to use RTSP camera feeds in an app. Or could use HDMI from the PC app for an easy way but there are many different ways to pull in the feeds and use HDMI. You could use a long HDMI cable, HDMI over cat6, wireless HDMI, too. Many different solutions.
@@digiblurDIY Thanks for the info. Appreciate it. Just bought my Reolink RLK8-810B4-A.
If only they had a spotlight camera as well, it would be just what I need. I want to avoid mounting a motion light as well as a camera in an area that needs a motion light.
I haven't tried attaching the Amcrest floodlight on it yet, I'll check it out.
I have been looking into the Lorex Active Detection/Deterrence cameras for this feature... smallish light activates with motion to deter intruders + instant feedback that motion detection works! Deciding between Reolink and Lorex.
Hi How do you delete a camera that has been scanned but dont want to see ?
I have a wifi camera that is showing up in channel 1 and I want to remove it.
I cant log into it anyhow but its messing everything else up on displaying the POE cameras
I found you have to turn off the auto add via the video/HDMI out GUI and delete the ones you don't need there.
@@digiblurDIY hi, thanks, Ok got there in the end but its not intuitive at all. I switched off the auto add. Then with mouse click on click but KEEP holding left button and then move pointer down screen and the option then appears. When you ask NVR to shut down, it still displays image on screen and red LED stays on. Does yours do the same ?
Any issues with IR light blinking loseing colour?
Been a couple years without issues.
This camera sometimes misses all motion , I updated from RLK810 to RLK810a this has the same problem . No motion is detected
Have you reached out to support? It could be an equipment issue or setup error. I have mine installed and capture motion on it and actually had to tighten things down a little.
are you still using this or did you upgrade to something better? im thinking of getting this
Still using it today in the house. I've got a few other camera types on it now as well.
