Houston's Best Fishing!

- There are so many great places to fish within the greater Houston area. From inner city bayous to wooded lakes, there's no limit.
BUT, there are few places that hold more species than Brays Bayou, and today we're fishing the spillway. It's a new area for me and it paid off.
Thank you for showcasing my favorite fishing spot McClendon park.

Nice catches and great video.
My friend, As I recovered from a year long fight with Covid you truly inspired me and encouraged me to look forward to fishing again. I recently took a trip to Houston but did not know how to comment or contact you. I plan to make another trip to Houston and would like to fish in the area where the concrete side to the bayou are. Would you mind sharing the name of that Park PLEASE
Awesome video.
Nice spot clear visual fish on
Nice work bro👍👍
I’m going back to fish 🐟 in that area again! Awesome video 👍😎🤘
Awesome, good luck 👍
Wow! the last fish looks like the ones in my fish tank
If you have a sucker in your fish tank it is the same it's called a pleco or armored catfish they come from South America and we're introduced into our waterways because people let their tank fish go... they grow as big as their environment lets them and now there a horrible nuisance that eroded the banks of all of our Rivers and Lakes if you catch them you're supposed to kill them
that last one looks like an overgrown pleco someone turned loose from their aquarium. idiots at fish stores sell them to people with 10 gallon tanks, knowing full well they get 24 inches long. lol
My first time seeing someone catch a Talapia
I been to that place, there use to be huge catfish back then.
Whats the name?

Looked natural - ciclid LIKE
Tilapia are a type of cichlid
👍
What is on your line?
Just out of curiosity, why arent you dispatching of the invasive species?
I do depending on a few factors. Species like carp, tilapia, and armored catfish are so incredibly well established in these Houston waters that killing them would prove mostly ineffective. When I sight cast to snag that catfish, I had my choice of multiple fish in front of me. There's too many to make a difference. Lots of biologists and environmental specialists have determined that tradditional catch and kill methods don't have enough of an impact on many invasive species to be practical, so they are having to get creative (like specially designed dams to block the migration of breeding invasives, which is controversial in its own right). When I go fishing in waters loaded with these fish, knowing full well Ill probably catch some, I know in advance that Ill be filming an animal that Ill also have the choice to kill or release. So I only decide to kill/dispatch invasives if there not already hoplessly well established. I caught a red bellied pacu in the Brazos about seven years ago and dispatched it, since that one animal, being much more rare in this area, actually could have made an impact on the ecosystem.
@@wildlifefishingshow Makes sense. Thanks for the reply and happy fishing!
The issue with invasive species is if everybody puts them back then you're right it won't get any better but everyone that catches one takes it out it might make a difference you got to think about the number of fishermen out there that's why is actually made a law and it's a $200 fine if a game warden catches you you're better off just following the law and not putting them back
@@jldfishing6622 Im sorry but that just isn't realistic. It's been tried extensively in several areas over the years and it just doesn't work. Traditional catch and kill methods are just ineffective on certain species no matter how many fisherman there are on the water. I wish it was. The future of invasive species management is something, some approach that has yet to be tapped into.
@@wildlifefishingshow tilapia will feed on the fry of other fish like crappie that is the only reason I was saying anything and it is the law I suggest if you're going to release invasive species you not record it so that way they don't come back and try to fine you for it because you're making video evidence of it I suggest not filming that part. great video thanks for the response
tell me did you catch the tilapias
Awesome catches man i been wanted to go to that spot but i can find a parking spot near, its a long walk from the parking lot .
Fercho Fishing do you know a good place to catch some bass I’m from Houston

@@brucechapman7932 I would imagine that there are some gar in there, but I've never seen any myself. Buffalo Bayou is a better bet for gar.

I don't know anyone who fishes more than you I live in Rosenberg and I heard that you are here in sugarland where is this location.
Old video, but still fun to watch. Should have taken the tilapia. They are invasive and need to be removed at every chance.

If you don't already subscribe to them, my absolute favorite RUclips channels are TA Fishing and TA Outdoors, run by Graeme and Mike Pullen. They're from your neck of the woods, to use a Southern phrase. Best two channels on RUclips.
