- In this video I go fishing for bass and gar in a bayou in Houston, Texas. The fishing was really good and I ended up catching 9 bass and 2 gar. I also saw a bunch of grass carp and tilapia swimming in the bayou. Hope y’all enjoyed it!

I used to live in Houston and as a kid and we would walk up the drainage tunnels. I noticed lots of fish and turtles in the tunnels that were submerged or partially submerged. Look for that with a widening in the bayou where the drainage forms a deeper area in the bayou. Sometime that water is run off from the streets but if you have water running like that without any recent rain that it is most likely from sewage treatment. Houston treats and discharges into the bayou system. It is clean to standard.

Really cool man. Glad I’m not the only one who pulls em out the Houston bayous. I’m in the humble area, so many good spots near lake Houston. There’s some monsters down there, gotta finesse em out the water.
If you go left away from george bush park there is a spot where it gets super deep and theres tons of trophy bass. I think its mason rd? I’m not sure but theres this neighborhood you can park in too

saw a 5-6ft gator back into the concrete drain towards the sewage treatment place..high water first week of November after storm

FYI (not trying to be a keyboard warrior/ know-it-all) but I've learned over the years that when Gar🐊 fishing that an extreme hook set, or multiple hook sets, tend to work best to get the hook set in their boney☠️ mouth. Doesn't hurt them really, just gives a better shot at them not spitting the hook.

Holy shit, so first off I met you while fishing a few years ago, but secondly that’s my favorite spot right there I call it my mini spillway, I caught bass all last summer there and possibly caught that exact same bass when a 4.5 pounder slammed my crickhopper

i go to that exact spot to catch snakes. Theres a LOT of cottonmouths and copperheads right there so watch your step. Great catches btw

I went fishing today also and in greatwood and In North crest is the best fishing around where I live so you should try it sometime

The bass sure do grow a bit bigger in Texas than Wisconsin. Also, I need to catch a gar!

All wastewater treatment facilities around Houston discharge the water into the bayou. May be the clear water you are referring to.
